Really good security options but as a functioning email client it is terrible. Even when you press on the 'download remote content' it doesn't format properly for some emails and for others you don't even get the option in the first place. Navigation is also limited, e.g. no obvious way to go straight to the previous email etc (you have to back out to the message list), and it's very slow at fetching email bodies. Also it hasn't been updated in ages so it's probably abandoned.
Seems to work fairly well. integrates encryption well. It does seem to have a problem with notifications though, it doesn't always send a notification even if there is mail. It also, sometimes, marks new mail as read. A combined spam & trash option would be nice too.
Been using R2Mail2 for a few days now. So far so good. I really like the interface, but it really needs a SELECT ALL button so you can select an entire folder full of messages at a time without having to tap each and every one.
Long time no updates but now after the recent two I cannot open any mails anymore. When I try to open one it loads it forever. I deleted all local mails and reorganized the mail store. After (re-)fetching the mails from the IMAP server i can open them but later it's again impossible.
I've been using r2mail2 for many many years. my requirement was pgp/gpg. Previously used c@tmail, pep mail, and k9 for multiple years then discovered this one. This one works best, seems to be the most secure, and everything just works. I forgot that I had to pay for it, whatever that amount was, it's certainly worth it. If you want a private email client that does everything an email program should do, go with this one.
Been using it for some time checking several mail accounts. Best mail app for Android, also supporting encryption. Most recent crashes appear to be fixed with 2.53.303 as well now. Thanks.
This is my overall favorite Android mail app, and I have tried a lot of them. When I say a lot, I mean hundreds of email APKs, i have used, de-compiled, reverse engineered with Kali's android MASVS tools. This app has strong overall encryption functionality, including storage of emails locally as well as ability to use email encryption within the app, so long as you have your key. Good stuff.
Good email client, but with old crypto. One can sign email only by using RSA-based certificate. No ECC support yet, which is sad. It is 2019... OAuth2 cannot request token on Android 10. You cannot setup GMail account at all. I think this email client is abandoned.
Great app with simple and minimalist design, but powerful functionality is there. Thanks to developer for bringing updates since a while.
let's encrypt certificates not working? "certificate chain not valid - cannot find trusted root" No problems with Thunderbird, K-9 Mail and Fairmail.
Best for multiple encryption options, both GPG & Smime. Master password protects all from access.
Requiring contacts for functionality is unnecessary. Doesn't matter what you claim, only what you prove matters. Internet, & forced contact permission is a privacy invasion. I gave it another try, & my one star remains. You clearly don't understand privacy.
Are there any plans to make R2Mail2 available for Chromebooks as an Android app? Right now, Android Play says "This item isn't compatible with your device" (Pixelbook)
Need root???????? How to setup gmail?????root access mandatory?????not working!!!!!
I am not getting notifications of new emails
Sign/encrypt/decrypt operations all work flawlessly. Security features are great. POP3 and IMAP support are seamless.
FINALLY! An S/MIME email solution that works. Thank you.
while it has a ton of general settings, being more flexible than other android apps, it is NOT my email client of choice. It has two major flaws: IMAP folders are not refreshed automatically and the app does notify you when you recieve a new message. Is this hard to get a good email app these days.
I have found this to be an excellent email program since installing it back in 2014. No app is perfect and there are one or two niggles, but it covers smime encryption well, handles multiple email accounts in both POP and IMAP form. Well worth it. Edit: 2 Dec 17: After android 8 update on Nokia 8 checking emails on Google's Gmail fails 'couldn't connect to host', then something about crypto... Other IMAP mailboxes ok.
Only I missing GCM and CHACHA20 algorithm. I always have to type full name when I add a new account (missing default value). And I missing to set delete mail behavior, I prefer to move to the next message (now exit to mail list). Google mail works only with application password (I have two factor authentication).
Pretty decent application. There are a few issues with it that I'm hoping will be fixed. At the moment, despite the setting being off, it still encrypts the subject. Also, certain encrypted attachments cannot be decrypted.
Don't spend any money in this piece of trash. It is not possible to send a normal email without getting an error. If u hand some patience u can send an email after some attempts.
Simply the best. (some troubele shooting may be necessary for iMap and SMTP settings when using complex loginb with 2FA.) The only way to make this better is if you guys created a switch to turn off the stock Gmail app in Android. A simple built in app locker for mail apps that can not be uninstalled say in Nexus devices.
Doesn't support html. While it can view html, it can't compose html. What's really bad is the CSS stylesheet codes are visible in the quoted email and making everything look like junk.
Best email client that I've found for PGP encryption (which everyone should use for certain things, and which more sites need to implement).
I can't add account with all type, server and host can't connected
I'm starting to get to like this app. But, it requires a learning curve to use.
It used to be good at the time and age where there was no real alternative which also supported mail encryption. Now it's just a clumsy abandoned app, slow at performing its tasks with confusing settings, many errors when fetching mails and a very bad behaviour when it comes to searching for messages. Do yourself a favor and use much greater open source alternatives like fairemail. I bet, the developer himself does so.
