Radio 3AW

Rubbish app for a premium radio station - always has been hopeless and would have thought 3AW would have sorted it by now. Froze again today on both my wife's and my phones, had to uninstall and reinstall.

Latest update has a serious problem. If I switch from 3AW to another radio app, when I go back to 3AW it is frozen. Have to force close in settings to get going again.

Was a great app, but now the addition of digital ads on opening and audio ads before the live stream starts makes for a clunky experience. In between all the other radio ads it's to much ad content. Can be very frustrating when you're listening to an interview and it drops out, then restarts and an audio ad plays so you miss parts of the interview.

Worse than the old app. Keeps stopping after Android update April 2021. Big issue! Also too long to load. Have to open it twice as it freezes with a blank screen, and have to click on an ad before it works. The Sportsday photo of Gerard Healy has his head chopped off. Too many ads on it. One good thing is that when you take out head phones it doesn't continue to stream (vs the old app). It asked me to rate it and sent me to the Apple Store, which is useless given I am on Android.

Can't login after being locked out of the app, the email is not being sent to my email and if I try email and password login it says it's invalid even though it works perfectly with nine now, surely the devs can get this sorted

Stick to radio. Agree with most other reviewers, the app misbehaves but does actually work on my Note 20. However what it does do that is annoying is delay broadcast at least a minute after the real broadcast and adds more ads on top of what the radio produces. The ads are poorly timed and are even played to cut into the news broadcast for example - so, if you put the radio on to listen to news, an ad plays over the top first to the extent that you may even miss the first stories altogether.

I have used an app to listen to 3aw for years. I find this app most frustrating. It keeps dropping out.

Slow to open. To many ads on opening. KEEPS dropping out

The new update is terrible. It looks tacky, full of spammy advertisments and much too busy where the old design was simple and easy to use. The ads you have to suffer before you can use the app take forever to load, I end up getting frustrated and closing down before I can access the audio.

Used this app constantly for the last 4 years, was a great app worked well but recent updates have brought advertising in on start up and everytime the app looses signal. Living in rural Victoria I loose signal regularly so app is almost unusable now. I can be listening then the app will stop for a couple of seconds then I will be forced to listen to a 30 second add as the app restarts. Doesn't sound like much but happens constantly and loose all context of conversation or news report. Deleted

Previous app was awful with frequent crashing. This one is far more stable but the greed of the company is hard to believe. The ads that you must click through before getting content are frustrating but once you click through the cream of annoyance is the 30 secs of ads before you can hear the program!! You want people to use the app but you are driving us away with the greedy ads. I don't think I'll continue with 3aw and I might just use the ABC app. No stupid Blind Factory ads there at least.

***Update 17/1/22*** Thought I'd try again but app still won't open and still asking for an email? Used to be great. Now keeps playing adds when the app opens. ABC app has no adds, highly recommend. Update 1/9/21. Don't bother... App won't even work now. They are asking for email log in, personal details etc to make an account? Shame I really like 3aw and will miss listening to it

Nothing but annoying ads that you have to wade through before you can listen, drops out continuously, can't listen to local AFL games, if you stop the hourly news the app resumes from that old one and has to finish before you can get the current one and with the one sided written articles there is nowhere to comment or links to social media sites.

Works well. Apart from when you go to play the news the next time, and it starts from where you paused it the day before. I normally stop it when the sports starts. Would be good if the News play button started from the beginning. Particulaly if you are opening the all for the first time in hours/days.

This is the best radio station on air but they have the worst App. I live in regional Vicoria so must use the app to listen. For a very long time you broadcast on the TuneIn App flawlessly. For some strange or $$$ based reason you withdrew that licence and ended my ability to listen on TuneIn. That renders the $$$$ Bose Internet Radio useless, so back to the App. The App a) starts with the mandatory 20 seconds of advertisments, b) is at best 15 secs behind and c) drops out every 90 seconds.

Not great. I get to hear my favourite station however, tends to fail a lot requiring restart. To force you see more advertising you have to click the lockscreen label and THEN unlock phone to pause it allowing them to show you another ad and not even earpiece pause button works WHICH SHOULD BE REQUIRED PROGRAMMING. And now a damn google play ad pop-up EVERY time you start? Stop with the greedy ad pushing guys. You also now have ads Inside the news. Terrible!

This App will kill your phones battery. It chews through power at 4 times the rate of either Spotify or YouTube. The App - Radio App - will get you 3AW at a 1/4 of the battery power consumption plus all the other AM/FM & DAB+ radio stations you want to preset-one button access 3AW never bothered to react to or redress the power consumption issue raised so bye bye direct access to your listeners (App listeners aren't rusted on) 👍

Buggy app. Doesn't link with sound levels on phone. Needs restarting to get play button to work

This app doesn't work at all. On launch there is a message saying that watching Channel 9 television is geoblocked from America where I'm located, even though this is the 3AW radio app, and not a Channel 9 television app. Uninstalled, so now I will just have to listen to other Australian radio stations who actually allow me to listen from America.

Terrible app. Prob the worst radio app I've ever used. Has a really slow ad that loads up when you start it and you must click to get to the station. That it is downloaded so much is due to the popularity of the station not the quality of the app

So far so good, I don't know what people are complaining about with the add when you open the app either, it takes 2 seconds to click it off and apps aren't free to make and run people! I'm just happy it's free and I don't need the multiple adds on all of Australian radio stations apps I've got and tried.

Fairly good app! Although it only allows portrait mode on my tablet even when set landscape mode in settings and tried installing various screen rotation apps (which work for other app). You do reaslise that there are other devices in existence other than phones?? Such as tablets??? And with tablets, people buy and use tablet stands that are designed to stand the tablet in horizontal position only??? Why would you design an app to only allow portrait mode and 'force' portrait mode only???🤔🤔🤔

Ever since I've had to sign in to 3AW using 9now, this app continually drops out and is effectively useless. Unfortunately, 3AW is forcing me to listen to competitor stations, not a good business model for a commercial radio station.

Initially, it was fantastic sound. The last two days, it kept dropping out every few minutes. So frustrating! I have uninstalled and installed again. Will try out later.

Too slow to open and ad plays every time app is open so i usually dont bother using anymore. If you have old version of app dont update. Now app is asking for personal details to create a login.... I only want to listen to the radio. Decided to delete instead

Really dislike the amount of invasive advertising in the later versions and it seems I'm not alone. Are station management and the app developers taking notice? Try "Radio App", you can get 3AW on it without having ads forced on you.

They have recently introduced Forced ads that cut in over your normal programming and it doesn't pass the pub test. So many extra adds and it is ruining the app. Makes me want to switch off to another station. 😡😡😡

This app works for me now but there are so many ads on opening it. I find i no longer auto turn on 3aw.. in fact i want to listen in and then remember the extensive ad experience and tune in elsewhere.. the ads are just overkill

Terrible app - drops out every few minutes. Used to get 3AW on Tuned In, but they took it off. If you want to save some money by not paying a commission to outsourcers, then get your internal app right!

Absolutely unstable, unreliable & unusable. A disgrace to a station that prides itself on being number one. Their website has always been hokey and poorly designed, but the app is a new low
