Great replacement for the defunct BBC app. The new Sounds app does not have a clock radio option. Hard not to like this app. It does everything well and it's free. Really flexible options. I'm going to pay for the upgraded version as this developer deserves to be paid for his work. Even that cost is insignificant for the feature set. Is it perfect? I do find the interface a little odd. Not very intuative but simple enough once you get used to it. Highly recommended.
This app replaced my ancient clock radio and I love it! It was easy to set up and find my favourite station in Australia. The radio comes on softly then increases in volume so you don't wake up suddenly. I like the simple options to turn it off, a big red cross is easy to see when you are still half asleep. Also if you drifted off listening to the radio for too long, a back up alarm sound replaces the radio connection.
Amazing + reliable! Love the massive choice of radio stations from around the world. The alarm has always worked for me and been reliable. Love waking up to music. It's one of the best apps I've ever installed and I use the radio stations every day while I cook, clean, shower, everything! Really happy with this app. Great work, guy(s)! (I also love how this app works fine in the background when you need to use other apps at the same time 👍👍👍👍😍)
Works fine for what it is, except for one very annoying thing: when I set a one-time alarm, it defaults to the same day. Which means more often than not, it's in the past. This seems like an easy fix - don't allow the user to even try to set an alarm in the past. Just move it forward 24 hours and provide a little text warning, or make the default be the next day. Plus, having a home/landing screen seems redundant. When the app opens, it should open on the alarms screen. Some basic ux stuff
love this app. does what it says and does it well. I had 2 radio stations that were not working. I sent email and in less than 24 hours it was fixed and received immediate response. highly recommend. Update. I've been using this app for a few months now and absolutely love it. I got rid of the alarm clock sitting on my night table. I use this app as a very reliable alarm clock (which supports different alarms at different times and days). Benjamin just added my favorite radio station! love it
So far so good. I'm another one here after the iplayer has been decommissioned. I've only dropped one star as radio volume isn't in the alarm setting screen and was a bit tricky to find in the settings while half asleep this morning! - definitely woke me up though so.... Initially it doesn't look like it's going to be easy to set up etc but it is and it works. Definitely read the t&c page - it's important ;--)
Awesome sauce. This app does exactly what it promises. You pick your stations, and you set the alarm. it has never failed me. This one time, I tried to use my regular Android alarm because I had a flight... honestly I'm not sure why. I think i was just lazy. The point is, I forgot to turn up my phone volume and it didn't wake me. By sheer dumb luck, I had decided just to put this alarm on for good measure. Good thing, too!! It automatically turns up your volume to whatever setting you put. :)
This is the only radio alarm app I've ever used that just works! I live in an area with no street lights and have been unable to find a radio alarm clock that didn't light up my bedroom and also play radio for more than 5 minutes before turning off. I tried apps on my phone but couldn't find an app that just worked. Now I have. On top of that the variety of radio stations available is amazing. Thank you!
This app relies on a certain level of intuition. There's no home button from the alarm screen so you have to use your phone "back" button. On the settings screen, all of the alarms are set to vibrate but whenever the alarm goes off, a popup comes on that says vibrate off. I can't figure out how to get it to vibrate to wake me up. The selection of radio stations is great for me but the display is very basic and in general, kind of frustrating to use.
This app has been great. My old physical alarm clock died so I was looking for a new one. I never really found one I liked, so I stayed using this app. It's worked perfectly and I've never missed an alarm. I did have a problem with my favorite radio station, but the alarm at least still went off and played some pleasant in its place - it did its job. I've emailed the developer and hopefully we can find out why this particular station stopped working.
Features look promising. I haven't had the chance to check out how well it actually works yet. It would be good if settings such as fade in and play duration could be set for individual alarms. Is that possible with the paid app? A data-saver setting would also be good, so that, if you don't have Wi-Fi, the alarm just plays some preset melody or ringtone. Access to the phone's FM tuner might be good. Rather than wake-up, I'm more likely to use the app to ensure that I don't miss certain shows.
I've looked in vain for an alarm that lets you play music to fall asleep to, too. (Unfortunately, you can't just use two apps, as Android's single "Media" volume controls both… Why is an alarm not considered a "Notification"? Someone at Google needs to check a dictionary.) This app mentioned it could play other sounds offline, so I got my hopes up—but apparently it stops just short of that. Too bad. Maybe you'll consider allowing MP3s to be played too. 😔 (4 ⭐'s anyway.)
Looks a bit primitive but does everything I want it to. I just wanted an old fashioned clock radio with the ability to start a radio station at a volume i can set and with the ability to have an alarm tone or not. Can set different wake up times for different days, toggle them on and off. Scads of radio stations to choose from. Outstanding.
Simple to use, easy to find stations and add favourites. And a radio alarm, so wherever you are in the world, as long as you have a data connection you can wake up to your favourite radio station (subject to that station's policy about listening overseas). Great replacement for the defunct BBC iPlayer radio app, and not limited to BBC stations. If I'm still using this in a year, I've half a mind to upgrade to the paid version even though I don't need the added functions; just to reward the dev.
It's a really good radio app. Pity that not all channels are supported in Malaysia, but the creator is really helpful and enthusiastic with providing as much support as possible. I highly recommend this for everyone, since most of the major stations are available. Btw you can use it as a sleep timer, alarm clock, or just to stream it on a whim so it's pretty versatile for a simple app.
Much better than the discontinued bbc iplayer app. Can switch radio on and off without going through lots of screens first. Stays on when I'm using my phone to do other things. Alarm works reliably. Wish I'd found it sooner. Only criticism - the help text isn't very clear and almost put me off trying it. Update: I now keep getting messages from bbc sounds whenever it comes on telling me to use their app instead when they were the ones who scrapped their alarm function in the first place!
I really like this app. Some of the other complaints just seem rediculous for a free app. With a bit of troubleshooting it took an hour, a whole hour guys /s to figure out how to change my default radio station. I seem to be able to set unlimited/enough for me alarms. One offs and repeats. I can use it solely as a radio without waiting on unskippable ads unlike the promoted global player favoured by mainstream stations. Which from my knowledge doesn't have an alarm clock function. Also snooze!
1/2 Easy to use BUT I wake easily so a I don't need a loud alarm, this app increases the volume to loud even if I have it set at the level I want. So I will keep looking. 2/2 Thanks for volume info, it worked perfectly. Easy radio selection, easy time/alarm set up. Obviously not as visually prompting as I am use to but once I read instruction properly..... Overall great app, I will keep using it.
Does what it is intended to do. I use the sleep timer and wake up each morning to my favorite radio station. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I find in-app navigation to be a bit unintuitive. Impressive list of radio stations. Rock solid...hadn't crashed or caused any issues in the 3 months I've been using it.
A fantastic app! I sent an e-mail to him to add RTÉ 2XM to the app & it was available when I went to bed (the only mistake was he misspelled it as RTÉ 2 XM). It has excellent functionality, e.g. it can play any station without setting an alarm, which saves space on my phone. An app that seems to have been created with passion. Also, usually apps which have a paid version try to sell you with ads, low functionality & other nonsense. SoI'mgoingtopayforthe++ version(providedtheappdoesn'tfailsoon).
worked perfectly on my Samsung S6. But on my Huawei P20 Mate it only seems to work if you open the program and let it sit in the status bar. If you clear your ram/memory it doesn't adhere to the times set unless you open up and then close the program again. Worked perfectly previously so i don't know what's happened. Running on Android Pie. I was using the built in app clearer. I will set the alarm, then swipe it away from the status bar (don't want it to sit up there permanently) and test again
Really like the configurability of this app, even if the terminology/descriptions are a little confusing, a simple alarm test helps to understand/set-up how you wish. Particularly like how far apart the snooze and stop alarm buttons are on the screen that greets you in the morning. App plays well with other phone functions like pre-set night-time mode etc. Only critic is seeing the 'no meta data' box on the screen. Thanks for the clarification on the purpose of meta data, Benjamin 👍
I've tried quite a few of the other top rated radio alarm apps and this is the only one that actually works, ie. reliably comes on everyday and doesn't lose the radio stream. The auto off however doesn't switch it off most days and has a limited selection of off times but apart from that it's good, and no ad's.
Works as advertise, and easy to set up. However, when testing the alarm out, I encountered one issue that had no obvious solution when I browsed through the settings: The alarm was routing through my Bluetooth headphones I had on when testing, rather than routing to the phone speakers themselves the way the standard android base clock app does for its alarm. I typically go to sleep with earbuds in, but don't necessarily want the alarm to go off in those. Is there a fix? Love the app otherwise!
