At last! The perfect radio app. I've tried 25. All of them have had something wrong with them. But this one has everything and so far I've not seen a single ad. There is a Pause button on Lockscreen, Sleep Timer, all BBC stations, dark mode, a choice of bit rates, everything.
Great app. Decided for this one instead VRadio, even though that one is much prettier but cost money. However, it was a hard decision. I like a full screen player window which this app doesn't have. When your favorite stations are in list view that player stripe at the bottom almost disappears. That's why I'd like stations in grid view but then only icons remain - no name or info. Some of my stations have no icon which makes grid look stupid! Maybe you could add this and show station names.
Pause doesn't really pause, but stops the stream (it should buffer in the background), causing you to hear the advert in the beginning of the stream again and again every time after playback is taken by another app for a second. Shame, cause at first it seemed like my new radio app! :(Please add this feature! E.g. accompanied with a setting how long you want it to buffer).
Fantastic app! I have been "tolerating" TuneIn for years, but dropped it immediately after finding this app. I setup Radio Droid in 10 minutes with my 10 favorite stations, in dark mode, in tile configuration. So intuitive,so light, so responsive app. It does everything TuneIn but much better, faster and without ads, even has an off-timer. I found all my known and lesser known stations in Europe and Australia. Thanks for this amazing app! Imre, Floridai, USA.
Reliable but ugly. Adding stations is painful due to the horrible mess of the radio-browser website. Hate the cluttered, unintuitive interface & country flags. E.g. I will never want to remove something from my favourites just by one touch - playing the station would be more intuitive, but you have to expand the entry before you get a play button! Search results are not sorted in any useful way either.
The app is great! Sadly, the developer doesn't respond to emails and the app hasn't been updated in nearly a year. Update 11/08/2019 - There has been more active development since I wrote my initial review. More people are working on the app, which was last updated in August 2019. The UI is still funky though and it is impossible to see the artist + song name. This info needs to made scrollable to cover longer names that are too big for the fixed display size. Adding one star now.
Really good app! Stable and good in use. One question: When advertisements appear there is a horrible "music" in the end (plingpling-pling-pling) until the next hop-on on the chosen stream is available. Somestimes it lasts 2 minutes. Where is ist located? How can it be stopped? I sometimes causes me changing the station ...
Amazing app and a lesson to major organisations on how thing should be done (BBC.......). The only thing I wish could be changed would be how it shows the name of the current song. Stations provide what seems to be a full description, but Radiodroid only shows the first twenty characters or so. Other than that, perfect love for Radiodroid. Thank you very much.
You don't know what you're missing! Found all the radio stations I had on tune-in in minutes. The only thing RadioDroid is missing compared to TuneIn is the ads! 👍 Good UI, open source. To the authors, put a donate button up. I'll donate!
It's nice, but would be great with a widget. Hope one gets added soon. Also, it keeps popping up with the metered connection warning. I wish the dev would consider a permanent allow or reject or always ask option.
Good internet radio app but it has too very significant issues. 1) Please make the notification control permanent unless dismissed/swiped by user. 2) The station information for the current song/program/show being air is not fully displayed anywhere as it gets truncated. Please make this infor on the player scroll across so that this info can be fully read. Keep up the good work.
Very good app but could use a static favorites section (starred) as well as the (most recent) section which changes as stations are listened to but is currently starred as favorites. This causes the loss of ones favorite stations while searching for stations a person finds appropriate to their taste.
The app is ads free and the UI is user friendly. It provides stream url which you can copy to paste in Poweramp or other music player should it supports streaming online radio.
4.5 stars but rounding up. Only thing I wish it had was buffering. That way audio would not be interrupted due to temp loss of connectivity, like in an elevator or something. Initial start would be delayed but after that a combination of buffered audio and live stream could make interruptions rare.
6.17 Tends to overheat my Google phone. 4.18 Cuts out when removing ear bud plug. Still enjoying using this. Streams some of my favorite stations reliably. A bit of a memory cache hog. Interface tends to be a little confusing compared to my other music apps.
Absolutely fantastic Internet radio app. The best for talk radio and news. Interface is brilliant. Favourites easy to use. Can even record! (I haven't tried). Good database. It just works! I wish all apps were as good as this. I WANT TO PAY FOR THIS APP!!!
This is by far the BEST music app EVER.. got over 50 favorite stations from all over the world.. some I was able to add myself.. TOTALLY user-friendly.. Wouldn't change a thing about the app.. Keep up the good work Alex..
Far better than even the "Pro" version of TuneIn, which still nags with ads for subscription services. All I want to do is stream SomaFM to Chromecast devices, and this app accomplishes that very nicely. Thank you!
After trying a lot of FM app, I believe this one is the best. Lots of stations and no ads, and totally free. I highly recommend anyone who want a FM app should try this one.
By far the best radio app I ever used. Simple, not demanding on hardware, no adds... Sure there are some minor issues, but other than time out problem, everything else works fine.
Got a loud alert today saying "metered connection detected". My WiFi had not dropped; this message is in error. Happens often. Other than this, it works very well!
If the cell or wifi signal is lost, the app waits 5 seconds and then tries to reconnect for 14 seconds, then it gives up and stops playing, no matter how high you set the timeouts in settings. It's usual that the signal goes out from time to time, and it's very annoying that the player stops. It should keep trying to reconnect without a time limit, until there is signal again.
