It's very clunky. Episodes I've downloaded and listened to, cannot be deleted. I keep trying and they are still there. So it eats up a lot of storage with no ability to remove episodes unless you choose the 'auto download' method. Which i dont want. So essentially there's no way to control the content I want or no longer want.
This most recent update actually improved a lot of things, except for the one function that is, in my mind, absolutely crucial for an audio player: Being able to play/pause episodes without navigating into the app. This has been broken for quite some time, and I will be using Spotify until it is fixed. RadioPublic is STILL better than all of the other free podcasting apps put there, but this is a pretty big problem.
I've been using RadioPublic for years. The customer service team has always been very helpful. Unfortunately with the most recent update (as many others have said) the app keeps crashing and freezing up. It's especially frustrating when I'm commuting to and from work and can't really mess with my phone because I'm driving. Begrudgingly I've switched over to Spotify until this issue is resolved.
App keeps stopping my playback every 15 min. I've tried adjusting the notifications (as my first inclination) but to no avail. Even with all notifications off, it still stops. So I thought, maybe it was my network? The first 2 days it happened, I was in a bad network area. Been trying ever since. Good or bad, nothing works, so I'm chalking it up to a bug in the app. I don't get this with any other podcast app. Review may alter if issue gets fixed, but as of now, it's very unusable for me
I usually don't write reviews since if things aren't working, I just drop the app the find a different one. But I want to know if anyone else is having this problem since my sibling is using this app and doesn't. I could play episodes just fine for a few weeks, then things began getting buggy. I couldn't play downloaded episodes on data or WiFi, even ones I had listened to before. When I did try to play them, they would give me this screen where I couldn't do anything; the pause and play button was out of commission, and the skip/rewind buttons were of no help. There seems to be a way to fix it by fiddling with some of the buttons, but I stumbled upon it once by chance and don't know what I did. Is anyone else having this issue?
Podcast Addict won't install on my new tablet, so I'm trying RadioPublic. I can't find any way to direct it to store downloads on my SD card, or a setting to delete downloaded podcasts once they've been heard. (I have limited data so managing downloads is very important.) I can only delete all downloads at once. Also, I rebooted my tablet this morning and now it doesn't see the shows I just downloaded, which are still visible in File Explorer - but the filenames are obfuscated, so I can't choose a specific show to play in another app. Just updated RadioPublic after this happened but it still doesn't see the shows.
On the plus side it's easy to download podcasts. However as others have said, the UI is awful and illogical. Downloaded episodes of all Shows appear in date order, not in Show order meaning you pick through a morass of different titles to find the Show you're after, then guess/try to remember which episode you're up to as there is no way of telling from the home page. You'd think that clicking 'Show' would help and it does to some extent, but then instead of showing the downloaded episodes, it shows you all of the Show's episodes including online. Don't like a show after a while and want to delete the downloads so that some semblance of order can be achieved for the above reasons? Nope, the only option is to delete all of your downloads. Want to listened to a particular part of an episode 2hours in? No problem, just press the 30second advance button 240 times to get there! Why no scroll bar? None of the above is rocket science and it would drastically improve the app.
Failed the first test. I have some podcasts that I have been listening to for ages, with just a few unheard episodes, and some that I have just discovered, where the back catalogue might be huge. When I try a new podcatcher ap and import my feed I want to be able to easily manage where I'm up to, without having to manually mark dozens of episodes as played / unplayed. My current app has a feature where you can choose an episode and mark all older episodes as played. This doesn't. So I'll be sticking with Player.fm, sorry
This is an easy to use app and allows you to add private RSS feeds which is teriffic. It allows you to use your headphone controls for playback which is also a nice feature. The only issue is when listening to a podcast, the length of the episode doesnt always load, and the time remaining is actually incorrect displaying 0 minutes remaining or displays the current position in the podcast. Still terrific however. Highly recommend it.
Good podcasting app overall, however there is no username and password system in the profile tab. So if I delete the app to reinstall it on a new device, I have to re-download and refollow all the podcasts I had on the previous device. It also doesn't sync across multiple devices either. I'd recommend fixing this if you want to compete better with other similar apps like Google Podcasts, Stitcher, or SoundCloud that don't have this issue.
Been enjoying the app for a while now, but it seems the last update or two has broken it for me. App frequently doesnt appear in the notification bar so options like pausing or skipping can only be done by unlocking the phone and going to the app. Also, podcasts will randomly cut out on audio after about half an hour of use. The podcast will keep playing but you only hear silence and have to force close and restart. Happens when using either corded or Bluetooth connection.
It is the only podcast app with a bookmark feature on the lock screen controls. I would rate only four stars, but I feel compelled to balance out all the people rating 1 star. There is a legitimate criticism: devs NEED to add a "rewind X seconds" button to the lock screen controls. There is more than enough room. Additionally, the search feature is unstable, with paradoxical effects when pasting valid RSS links and randomly returning the the Discover page home when you back out of a podcast.
It's rare for me to find an app I have learned to so thoroughly dislike so quickly. The only thing redeemable about it is that it does, in fact, play podcasts. Yet even then, it does not play a podcast continuously. Starting from ep.1? Nope, you have to hit play after every episode. Hit the start listening button and not only does it start from the latest episode, it still won't play continuously, and instead, will just decide to play a random different podcast you're following instead. Awful
i really like the smart folder feature; i like being able to catch up on podcasts in the order that eps came out. however, im having a very frustrating issue dowloading episodes. sometimes random episodes just wont download; i click the button to download, my device says its downloading, but then it just stops and that episode can never be downloaded. this is super frustrating and ill likely switch to another app soon if it is not resolved.
It's a pretty good podcasting app, but several issues hamper is use. · It does not limit how much storage it will use, and will download until your device starts malfunctioning. · The queue has a hard limit, and it won't remember to queue new episodes once there's free slots. · The download section cannot be sorted by show for easy queuing and cleanup. · It skips the episode you're listening to if you start listening to a different one, rather than re-queueing it.
I'm so excited about this app, it's 150% better than spotify and they actually care. I love the smart folder feature. The only issue is I wish you could use headphone buttons to seek forward in the timeline, since it seems to skip the whole episode instead of 30 seconds.
