I read a few reviews on this app and they are very mixed, I don't know why, I think this app is brilliant, I used to work out the sizes a long way round, but this app really is simple, accurate.... I love it
Great job! Just started using it and everything works out perfectly, saves loads of time! Thanks 😬
It looks great but I can't use it because I used inches and feet so can you give that option thanks
In meters. Not intuitive, but a good start.
All Lumber in my area is measured in inches and feet... This calculator measures in millimeters and inches making it useless to me
rubbish, measurements off, can't rely on it. a lot of wasted timber
Worked great for me, an awsome tool to have when i'm second guessing myself, Thanks much appreciated.
Carpenter Easy to use and most importantly it works.
Feet and inches not metric horrible experience
need to beable to use Ft not mm
Works out hip rafter as well. Cool.
There's nothing to change to imperial
No inches. Waste of time
Work perfectly to me, I'm not roofer, today I was built first roof, I cut all angles follow app and was perfect. I use 50x200 timber where tiny angle mist meen big gap, between Ridge and rafter, but was perfect. Just be great some improvements I have no idea how is calling all roof part, if be more pictures with explanations what is hip, valley pich and other will great to know when I cut how is calling. Thank you very much.
This app is good, however, after using it today it was obvious that the app does not remove the Ridge beam thickness when calculating rafter length. However once I had worked this out the rafters sat perfectly where they should have. I will use it again, but will need to remember this detail in future.
I've written similar programs myself over the years using excel. Love what you've done. Always wanted to write something more phone friendly but never got around to it. Now there is no need. You might consider adding shortening for rafters going down a hip or valley. You would need to offer options for rafter centers. Most common would 450, 600, 900 & 1200 in metric but you could write to suit user entry.
App info doesn't fit on the screen properly (tablet running 4.0.1). Unable to properly see input boxes or info. Could to with some help tutorial for none trade people (DIYers). For those of you moaning about lack of feet / inches - join the rest of the engineering world.
Needs and option for imperial and an option to enter roof slope not just angle in degrees its annoying having to leave the app for conversions.
Great app for speed, it complements existing roof knowledge perfectly, saving time on setting out. Good stuff!
Only problem I found is works with meters and mm I use inches, could not find how to change it from metric to inches. Some one know how?
Works ok. Weve worked out plenty of roofs with it now. Only thing is the calculations give u measurement from birds mouth to ridge peak, and you still have to take out half the thickness of the ridge off the rafter length. I thought thats why it asks for ridge thickness??
App Inventor FTW! Thanks so much for publishing this for free 😀
The app doesn't give you the option for inches or feets
Simple and straight to the point. Even an amateur should be able to pick this up
Really like the way the app is laid out but needs to be in both metric and inches.
Fantastic app takes the hard work out of roofing
Surely the rise (r) is measured from top of wallplate to the top of the ridge ?(r) seems to be measured on a 2 3rds marking line that dosent give you total rise?
Would be nice to know it's metric and apparently can't be changed
Great app for quick and precise roofing measurements. Great job
Seems accurate, just downloaded and compared to a roof I'm on now. Real world and perfect maths rarely agree. Most negative reviews seem to come from people's inability to use the more accurate metric system. Their choice.
