Rail Crossing Locator
The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Rail Crossing Locator helps you locate highway-rail grade crossings and explore detailed information from the USDOT's grade crossing database(s). Users can: locate crossings by USDOT Crossing ID, address or exploring the map; access inventory records submitted by states and railroads; and view accident history. Users can also select from multiple base maps and identify railroad crossings by characteristics. This app empowers the public (including transportation, emergency response, and community and safety organizations) to join the FRA's efforts to further improve grade crossing safety. States and Railroads are responsible for the accuracy of the grade crossing physical and operating characteristics within inventory records.

The map is ok. My biggest issue is that grade crossings take forever to show, and sometimes not at all. the zoom feature sometimes mess up the crossings or the map. map images take forever to load. this app has a poor interface. When it works, I love it.
The app is good. The biggest issue is that if you use an android device you don't have the option to go to a map cut turn by turn directions. I've contacted the developers of this app and received no response. Same thing when I contacted the. FRA via their website.
I work for the railroad and your app is very helpful. my only issue with the app is when I now select a crossing, I can no access its inventory record. it's very frustrating, because there was a lot of useful information in there I could for my job. I'm hopeful that issue will be fixed.
It is not working last two days..WHY NOT!!!!!! You people remade and updated it to work extremely fast. Android or iPhone works great. I use this app easily 5 times a day. VERY PLEASED NOW. Most of the time, it seems to be down. just graph. when it does work, it's very accurate and informative. Since I work on RR in SoCal, I circumvent this problem by pin drops on my Google Maps. Essentially, what I am saying, is not to depend on this app.
This app fails more than ever. I've used it on IOS and Android and both screw up. The map shows but the crossings don't populate for information. The app keeps asking for permission and even though you accept it, it still won't work properly.
The app used to work well months ago, but does not load any of the data on the map anymore. The app works on my iPhone, but not on my Note 8. This app is wonderful when it works properly. Please fix this!
When the app worked it was amazing. I do vegetation management for Union Pacific and this helped amazingly. But unfortunately it does not work any more. It would be a 5 stars if the crossing popped up again.
When it works it's fine, but lately the Inventory Record no longer loads for the crossings. When I hit 'view' nothing happens. I uninstalled/reinstalled app and the same issue is still presenting.
Could be a great app. I like the idea and the interface is good but the app is almost non-functional. Extremely slow responses and missing grade crossings.
Takes a long time to load data. More than 15 minutes. And the data is wrong for the one crossing I looked at. Gave info.for a crossing 10 miles away.
This app is excellent for me. I work for a railroad contractor, and this app really helps me find places I need to go.
App does not work. Constantly crashes. Crossings do not appear on the map. Running on newest updated Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
Good overall. Trustworthy. I wish it would have a satellite view included, with actual roads and landscape.
great app a few mo ths ago but now doesnt seem to work. shows map but no crossings come up. Hopefully a glitch because it is a great tool.
2020-09-28 this app crashes every time I try to search a DOT #. I am on an Android Note S20 Ultra. Please fix it! It is a valuable tool when it works this app has stopped working. please fox it!! no update since 2016!!
This app used to work well and be helpful. Now it refuses to show crossing info on my galaxy s9 phone. What's the deal? Waste of time until it's fixed.
App keeps crashing. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times and it never openes, just crashing. Is this a scam?
Rarely works. And when the crossing indicator icons pop up, you cannot click on them to see information.
The Crossing locator keeps crashing everytime I search for it if I could give it to zero Stars until it fixed i would but since I can't I'm only giving it one star and I'm uninstalling it off my device until it's fixed
Contracted by Union Pacific this app comes in handy finding crossings. It would be appreciated if there was a way to pinpoint a spot and use it for directions. Great app.
Total garbage. Lists absolutely no crossing in South Florida. I work for the railroad down here and can say for sure it's useless. Samsung Galaxy
I use this app to locate railroad crossing for train crew pick ups. This app is quite simple and I'd like to see some feature additions, however THIS APP DOES EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS IT WILL DO. No fuss, no muss! In my experience as a professional driver who has to rely on applications like Rail Crossing Locator, I would rate it a 10/10. That's correct, it rates a perfect score, IMHO.
