This app is fantastic and I find it to be irreplaceable for rail travel. I've used it in Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Boston, Providence, D.C. and Chicago and it's worked perfectly everywhere I've used it. The data store gets corrupted every once in a while and shows weird results but I've learned when that happens that you just need to uninstall and reinstall.
I have used this for years on both BB and android and its simply the best. Just download the train/transit schedules you want and then pick start and end points. Hint: in the setings tell it to show unlimited trains and you can plan ahead before you go on a trip.
I wanted to give this app five stars, but it has a flaw for the BART trains in the San Francisco area. The schedules are accurate, but the app cannot accommodate the "timed transfers" at MacArthur & 19th St stations. You will encounter this problem on other systems if you use a transit system that has transfers where a train meets another one. For example: heading from Berkeley to SF in the evening/Sunday, there is no direct train. You take Fremont train to MacArthur, and as you arrive a train from Bay Point is arriving on its way to San Francisco. You just walk across the platform and get on the SF train. No waiting (& BART is almost always on time here). The problem is that RailBandit only allows you to set the transfer time down to 1 minute--but since the schedules have the SAME arrival time, the app directs you to go 3 stations further (to Lake Merrit), then wait there for nine minutes for the next train to SF. I emailed RailBandit's support about this, and they were very helpful with finding the settings, but when we discovered that it still wouldn't show the no-wait connection, they said that they weren't planning on fixing it soon due to no resources.
Used to work great but about 6 months ago it began misbehaving by freezing and needs to be force stopped and restarted after every use. Very annoying. Stopped using it!
I have used this app every few days for two years, and it has proven to be stable and reliable. Try it, and you will never look at a conventional timetable again. Totally worth it.
Everytime I open this app it closes and on the second time it opens. Annoying. Besides that it works
Had it for months a great app. Then it just stop working . Uninstall and reinstall still doesn't work
Every launch causes a force close, then launches fine. Also seems to re download complete schedule every time which is a bit unnecessary
California Metrolink schedule is not downloading. The other schedules work. This app worked great on my iphone so im disappointed it's not working here. I will update my rating as soon as this is fixed.
The schedules are never updated. Example... today is 12/15. The schedule changed on 10/1. Rail bandit has not been updated. They claim they haven't gotten the update. So the app is basically worthless. So glad I paid for it.
Good when it works, but crashes too often. Ridiculous for the price I paid. Fix it!!!!!! GS4
This is the best app ever but in the past month it has been horrible the lirr train schedule will not update so its useless now. Please update asap
Doesn't update to new schedules or give info on late trains
None of my schedules are being accepted anymore, and emails to the developer go unanswered.
Railbandit for Android
Tons of features and includes transfers. Real time status and delay updates. See if you're active train is running late via gps. Been a lifesaver for my commute into Manhattan.
This app expects the user to know the names of the different routes not just start and ending points. The info it expects is not listed on tickets. You need to know more details then are easily found. Pretty useless for the casual rail travelor.
The greatest app of its kind. I use it all the time
Any one who looking for real time travel update and a easy way to travel should try this. Worth the money for sure...
I would really really like to associate an alarm with a train departure. For instance, I know that it takes me 26 minutes to walk to the train, so warn me 36 minutes in advance.
Really great app. The thing that's really nice is it acts like hopstop. It show's all the station's the train passes.
I use this to and from NY to different stations. Accurate and easy to use. A great timesaver and worth the price.
This is the most accurate application I used for this purpose after trying 3 more before! Nice interface, capable of covering most metropolitan areas in the US and ease of use... what do you want more?
Love, love, love this app! It has been a huge lifesaver on so many occasions.
Works awesome, but keeps crashing with certain lirr combinations...not sure what's going on, hopefully next update will resolve this....
Best rail app on the market.
Highlights. Automatic schedule updates. Advance trip planning. Quick Trip Saving. Interactive map with good, shows stops for trip. Allow GPS activity to check if train is on-time. The ABSOLUTE best app EVER. I use this more than facebook.
Filled with errors & incomplete schedules. Otherwise, terrific. You have to treat it as raw data, and work out schedules for yourself.
Gets me there great!
I have used this app for MARC to Metro Red line. Now that my office is moving I find it cannot schedule across 2 Metro lines. Neither MARC - Red - Green nor just Red - Green alone work with my stations. All permutations give errors about no options available. This is basic stuff for DC commuters. You will need to use another app for Metro interline.
