In general a very good and useful tool. The flexibility in setting the rain alarms is excellent. One suggestion, though - the app can be set to search in a particular direction, but could this be linked to the wind direction? Wind speed would also be a useful defining factor - when it's windy my existing alarms don't go off until it is too late. It would be great to very the alarm area in relation to wind speed.

I used this app at work & really liked it. Most weather apps aren't very accurate in my area due to being in a valley between mountains. This app works in real time & simply does a great job at what it claims it does. I'm happy to find it again. The radar is easy to use & understand. It even has a weather forecast for upcoming days. It has a good bit of options to customize the search distance & intensity of rain that will trigger an alert. I only wish there was better widgets with a forecast.

GREAT app. As a convertible sports car owner in the scattered rain showers of the northeast it's indispensable. It's high accuracy and detailed info have saved me many times. The alarm even gets me up out of meetings to go close the top during what weather reports erroneously said was a rainless day. Info is easy to access in-app and especially with the at-a-glance widget. It works well all the time, does not require too frequent updates, and the ads are not intrusive on the version I have. 💯❤

I have been using rain alarm for approximately a year and the app is very informative when comes to notifications of how close and how much rain you can expect. The radar is one of the best along with excellent customer service during any issues with the app or answering any questions you may have. I just renewed my subscription. Also I use the pro version of the app as there are a lot of additional settings that allow you to Taylor the app to your liking. You can't go wrong using this app!!

I'm in New York City, been using this app for over 10 years on different Android devices. imma make this clear once, this is a very reliable app never had one issue since its conception.. you want to stay dry? then download this app. that's all there is to it.

As an English window cleaner, this app is essential. Being able to tell where the rain is (actually) happening as opposed to supposedly, can improve productivity. The proximity alarm (in miles) with the (%) of precipitation tells me how wet to expect to get, and weather (a deliberate pun 😂) its worth starting the clean of the next house. So many thanks from me and others I've recommended the app to here in the UK. 🇬🇧 Has also worked abroad to avoid unexpected soaking on an sunny day.

I really like this app but I have a suggestion. Would it be possible to have the option for the alarm to only go off when the rain is very close? (e.g. within a mile or two?) In the area where I live there are often storms that only show up briefly across town (7+ miles away), but I am alerted for all of them. Or maybe I'm missing the setting? Still, thank you for this app!

I purchased the display settings wedge in the app, however, the wedget doesn't work. It doesn't show anything except for a greyed out cloud icon. ☹️ Update: Thank you for your respond, it works now. I'll consider to purchase the full version after I try it for a while. 😉

With what dark sky and Apple has done to us, I needed another early warning for the rainfall. After awhile I've settled on this app which has a different approach to weather forecasts. If the alarm sounds, it's probably raining somewhere near. It seems with the correct settings one could technically known where precipitation is probably going to fall anywhere on Earth. I just am not sure what smart interval means, as I would like a nice tight interval to give me near to the minute predictions.

i have had rain alarm basic for 3 years now. useful at times but can be very inaccurate. for example, its been pouring down here for over half an hour with some thunder close by also but ap shows no rain at all for 10 mile radius. I reloaded several times on mobile and pc and the same up to date image (5 mins in arrears). Shows heavy rain 10 miles away but before and after pouring here no suggestion of any . Still thick cloud and light rain after 45 mins.

The app is great, i brought my year subscription. The only problem is the viewing direction. If I am watching south the map will be still facing north. To work correctly I need to find north before opening the app and then will be fine, but it's annoying to do this every time before opening the. In the meantime I disabled the viewing direction option. Edit: SOLVED by calibrating (figure 8 movement) while using the app! Thank you!!!

Radar inaccurate. Images show too late, already raining when images show 20 mins away. Rain alarm is random and annoying. Alarm goes off and says 8/10 but rain is 20km away and moving away from us. Junk. I ran this app beside two others for three weeks. All apps get data from Aus BOM. One app's images displayed long before this one's and this one would not always display all images that were available. As stated above, alarm is flakey i.e. goes off when rain is moving away.

It's gone dark. Looking for a different app now. Tried changing in settings but stayed the same ! Can't believe it. 1 change and u have lost me.tks 4 response and saw same message in another review which is why i did go into the rain aiarm settings and tried all 3 options. Just to make sure, I tried it again just now and using the dam blue/light option (2nd one) it seems to work now. I hope it does not go dark again even at night unless I change the option. Mysterious but good.tx

Anytime you get negative criticism or comparison, you reply implying "You're wrong / our app works better!" 🙄 Dark Sky correctly alerted me about 10 to 15 before the rain began, and predicted that the rain would last about an hour (pretty accurate.) The in-app radar looks good and is easy to use. Rain Alarm alerted me after the rain had already begun & then again like 5 to 7 times randomly, even after the rain stopped. The radar is unattractive and only shows about 3 frames (30 minute window.)

tl;dr Doesn't accurately predict rain, full of bloat and premium features. Very frequent alerts, but never when it's actually going to rain. Even the low sensitivity alarm will ring 4-5 times a day (in Ireland, so it rains a lot here). It hasn't been right once for me, but it flooded me with alerts. I guess there's probably a way to tweak the alarm controls for this thing to be useable, but you have to pay for that.

I have been using rain alarm for years, it is easily the best weather app available. Using almost real time weather data is far better than relying on forecasts although the onus is on the user to try to determine where the rain will be next. People who doubt the accuracy are in my opinion making fundamental errors because they lack understanding of weather in general, so much so that i could write an essay explaining these errors.

Beautiful app the direction fan is awesome because after calibrating it uses the top of the phone as a pointer showing where a storm cell is coming from with coordination with north pole. Your phone has to have a magnetic sensor for this to work. You put a lot of work behind this app also with the widgets I appreciate being warned of upcoming percipetation due to the fact that I work for a lawn care company. A co worker noticed your app on my phone and immediately downloaded it. Thumbs up 👍

Update...decided to come back and try this app again. Everything seems to be working fine. Maybe problems due to earlier version of Android???? "No automatic notifications.... Must run app each time for any notifications. What good is a alarm that doesn't alarm??"

Way. F. Jun 12, 2021

Maybe I'm not clear on how this app works but the radar display runs consistently behind the actual time. For example my clock says 5:00pm but the farthest the radar window in the app looks forward in time is 4:50pm. How is this helpful? By the time the radar in the app shows rain approaching, I'll already be soaked! I paid for a year subscription to get rid of the ads but may ask for a refund before the 10 day trial expires unless someone can explain this time discrepancy to me.

Decided to give this 4 stars again, was originally 4 down to 2 because this app can't predict weather that develops locally however it is a good app for predicting rain that passes through as a weather system as I found out today, recieved a warning of nearby rain and 10 mins later it started to rain so it is a decent app, this is 2 out of 4 now but as I live in a mountainous area with its own micro climate which it can't predict and that's understandable. Would recommend this app.
