Rain Bird

Nothing at all intuitive or easy about this app. It is frustrating to try to connect to a network and do anything at all with this app. I have another property with a Rain Bird system that doesn't have wifi. Much better experience. As an application specialist, this SHOULD have been a piece of cake to set up... it is still not working!

My WiFi is literally on the other side of the wall from my rainbird controller yet everytime I try to connect to the rainbird WiFi it will never connect. This makes the app useless. The FAQ says if you get a message that says "connected without internet" you can still use the app. No you can't. And don't bother trying to call help support. They're only open Mon-Fri when most people work. I'm not taking time off from work to call about an app.

This app is incredibly difficult to use. Nothing is laid out intuitively, just navigating to basic functionality is a confusing mess. The app has some bugs related to WiFi setup. The password thing is insanely annoying - you can't make any changes without needing to enter a password every time. Most importantly, the usability is weak. You can only name zones. In a yard with 13 zones, it's not at all helpful to try remembering them but name. What, do I keep a paper map handy to cross reference?

The app works fine once it's setup. But the setup process never recognized the controller. I had to setup the system on my iPad, then I was able to "invite myself permanently." I would give it 5 stars if it could actually be used for setting the controller up. If I didn't have an iPad, I probably would have had to send the controller back, since I'd have no way to get it to connect to my WiFi.

Been fighting with this app for years now hoping that it would work. Constantly fighting to connect to the controller with it, change settings, and some things only work on the controller. Spent an hour and a half tonight trying to reset my password and it still won't work... and I have a computer science degree so hopefully I should know what I'm doing. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

App works fine with android. Fairly easy to setup and no connectivity problems. My only issue is setting up notifications (ie when watering cycle is completed etc.). Following Rainbird help instructions I need to open Global Notifications under Mobile App Settings. However, when accessing the Mobile App page, no Global Settings option exists. I appear to have latest software version (2 16.7).

I would give it 5 stars except Rainbird has dragged it's feet on implementing one of the most useful and necessary features - the ability to save and restore your settings. I have asked for this capability for 3+ years now and they still haven't implemented it. Talking with Rainbird resellers and installers, they all agree - why has this obvious capability not been implemented by Rainbird?

Pixel 6 -- this application doesn't function properly on pixel 6. Wouldn't connect to wifi during initial setup phase. So I set it up on an iPhone and shared the access via email. But when I download the file and import the clock I get a password incorrect error message. Checked doubled checked, changed password and tried again. It must be an issue with pixel 6.

Echoing other reviews. UX is terrible. Looks like a school project, not a professional app. Manual run does mot show active zone. Zone run time has a totally unusable spinner control. Many expected features amd functions missing. Rainbird needs to open source the protocols so the community can build a better app.

I have been "using" this app for a few years now and keep expecting the experience to be improved somehow. For a company as well known as Rain Bird and what a high quality product their sprinklers are, they should be truly embarrassed by the lack of functionality and intuitiveness in this app. The quality of this app was unacceptable 3 years ago and it is just ridiculous now. The setup is absolutely terrible and if you manage to get it setup, it's almost unbearable to use by today's standards.

It won't connect with the ME3 CONTROLLER. Says I've connected to the rainbird network with no internet and then won't proceed with setting up the controller it works perfectly fine with iPhone so what's going on with the Android version???

Really lacking a global on/off watering options such as the one on the controller panel. The app behavior is pretty painful and not user friendly. Network responsiveness is very slow.

Have had the controller and app for years, and like others have said, I very much prefer interfacing with the controller by the app vs directly keying the controller. I live on acreage and have thousands of feet of drip line. Having remote access to the controller is great when I'm doing line repairs.

Last update is broken. When attempting to connect to my Bluetooth controller it gives an error saying that the device "has expired" (whatever that means) and removes it without any chance to do anything else.

The Rainbird App is easy to use and so helpful. It really helps when you are doing repairs and want to turn the system on or off (saves a lot of steps to the controller box).

As a contractor for RainBird, this is most embarrassing app/product I have seen in the industry. How am I supposed to sell a product for someone when I try and show the features of the app, it says MY OWN CONTROLLER is disconnected from the internet. The router is literally ten feet from the controller, the device says its connected. I know it's software side, because I used to be able click on another customer and it would solve the problem. Important note! Install via iOS first! After that, you can easily install on Android device. Once installed, it works flawlessly. A lot easier than turning knobs and pushing keys on main control.

Worse App. Always pop up saying an error for communication. No Matter what I do, back out from app, or by phone. Same results. Have to wait anywhere from 2 min to 3min to get back in.

Brought new, installed within a month and have never been able to connect to WiFi even when I put a booster next to it :( Have uninstalled a few times, removed wifi n recomnected, turned of Data share on Android. Very very disappointed

Needed customer support to get it to connect with my LNK2. However, it was a short wait for support and the support person was able to walk me through the process successfully without any unnecesary steps. The documentation for installation via Android needs to be much more detailed.

I don't know who they hired to design this terrible app, but I hope they didn't pay much. Constantly crashing. Most of the time I cannot even connect. When it does work, it's the most obtuse, arcane interface.

Was working fine. Now the app doesn't advance dates and times. It just gets stuck on the same day and my sprinklers don't come on. Today is the 17th but my app seems to think it's the 12th. Date and time on the controller appears to be correct.

I don't even know why the still have this app. There's no log in, just set up as new controller. if there is, these guys don't make it easy to find. I regret paying extra for stupid wifi module. I also regret going with rainbird system, I should have gone rachio. I regret this app. Everyone else has a log in section, why does rainbird NOT have one??

Do not buy. Doesn't open on a Pixel 6. I can't believe I paid $100 for this integration. Was pretty poor on a Pixel 3, but now is useless. Rain Bird, up your game, or buy my WiFi connection back. Can't think of anything that I have bought that works so poorly.
