First, the Remember Me function for login does not work. Second, the app is not intuitive, I still dont know how to manually water for more than 60 seconds at a time. Thirdly, when the connection from controller to valves is offline, there is no indication as to why or what to do. There seems to be goid flexibility as to programming water cycles, decent feedback as to what has happened, and the weather link is nice. In short, if only it worked, there might be a decent amount of functionality. Sigh....
The whole RainCloud brand is not good. The app is a web wrapper, just shows the mobile website. The device itself is ridiculous. If the power goes out or the internet is reset for any reason, you have to physically go and push the reset button. They sell it knowing this... In fact there's a built in "paper clip" device that slides out of the device so you don't have to hunt down a real paper clip. How about making the software work instead of including a handy dandy reset tool.
When the app is working, it's the best thing ever. However, it hardly works. I've had it show online and the product was unplugged for several hours. It often goes offline for now reason. I've had a time when it would water my grass 3 hrs after scheduled. Other times when it watered for much less and more time then scheduled. This app and product is the write idea. It's great for tech people like myself, however Melnor does not have it yet.
It works beautifully for a few months then doesn't work at all. Seems like whenever they update it, it ruins it. I love being able to water my plants when I'm away or even laying in bed after I read the weather report and see that we're not getting rain. Extraordinary concept. Just has a few flaws that need to be tweaked out.
Absolutely love the app (& the equipment it's controlling)! Read enough negative reviews that had me doubtful of it's abilities but after the initial software update everything is functioning properly. Actually better than I expected!!! The app is very user friendly, once you know what you're supposed to do with it! Occasionally review it for battery life and double check that it stays connected to the internet. LOVE 💘 my Raincloud!! P.S. So do my plants & trees!
It's not really an app. It's a screen carve off the website... which, their website is often down. They never upgrade software or hardware, nor do they do anything to improve upon their downtime during heavy traffic times.
I can't even register the device, I try to put the serial number and postal code in and I get an "error occurred during registration" message, I've never had a smart product need a serial number to make the app work, if it's SMART, the app should find it on the network automatically just like any other smart device would do.
Servers have been down for almost a month. Customer support is very responsive but as of right now all WiFi units are non functional I have been told a fix is in the works. ------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: Melnor has since updated their app along with the firmware in my device. Connectivity is not only working, but its even working better than it has in the past. In the past my units were offline most of the day and NOW, they only are online most of the day. GOOD JOB MELNOR. I am completely satisfied with your product now. And as always the customer service is beyond exceptional. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Changed to 5 starts
Great product, does exactly what I need. We use it in our mountain cabin to water when we cant be there. Reliable, with many options, and it's easy to control from anywhere! I liked it so much I bought a second one 😀 !!
Your webserver is offline so I can't water my lawn.... ridiculous!! You have a great idea here that's got a critical flaw in it!! If your website is down my unit no longer works!! I can't interact with it, or change schedules, so I don't know if my grass and garden are frying in the sun!! Release an app that's self contained and does not depend on the internet or your webserver being online. Having the cloud stuff is great but I want something reliable!!!!
ok, wanting to water my grass on Sun afternoon and raincloud site is down. Is this a joke? Maint periods are like midnight to 5am, not Sun afternoon. Besides, it should have been designed for high avail and maint that can be done to one side at a time so customers can use the product.... Works great and let me adjust watering schedules for up to 4 hose sprinklers. Hope for long troublefree service! App screens look more like web pages with buttons close to each other but does exactly what I need!
Still can't connect to the @#$% thing! Come on, it's 2021! Trying to get this thing onto Wifi reminds me of setting dip switches trying to get a modem card to work in my 286 motherboard. Sheesh!
Not reliable web server. Cloud web server is constantly down therefore my raincloud is offline and not able to water my garden. I'm struggling to find a replacement with more reliable network such as home network or locally operating system and not rely on unreliable cloud server.
I have had this for about 4 or 5 years and it worked like a charm until now. Control unit is constantly offline. Of course this happens right after I invested in a second valve unit. Ugh
The app worked ok for the first 2 seasons I used it. Unfortunately the app doesnt even open for me anymore making the spigot unit useless forcing me to throw away and replace it.
It's just a clunky slow and fiddly website inside an app. The very example of how not to make an app.
Could not get it toconnect, constantly “offline", it's too expensive to be a manual switch.
Works ok usually sundays doesnt work it's really not an app it works off there website so if there site is down most likely it's not going to work if you have auto on
Awful UI. Terrible connection issues. Belongs in 2001. Melnor, step up your game...
Amazing company with unparalleled support. Any problem I've ever had they immediately address.
literally the worst app I've ever used in my life!!! So many things to fix!! Just fire everyone involved and restart!!! Cant even water my lawn!
The app won't even open now due to server issues. When will it work again?
great app saves me time from watering the garden manually.
Yes. Yes it hs collaborative editing. No file sharing.
Has worked for 2 months, blank screen now
So far the app seems pretty good. I've used BHyve, but found it frustrating to jump between so many screens to manage multiple timers. This app definitely does a better job of that. The reason I knocked a star off is the lack of any kind of history. It would help to be able to see the last time it ran, how long it ran, etc. Preferably the last 10 runs would be good, but I'd settle for one.
