Another Update: paid for the upgrade for this which was a mistake. Currently showing drizzle but its clear as a bell outside. No other radar showing rain in bone dry Texas. I've been doing weather for 40 years (forecast for a private group of hundreds). This app is repeatedly wrong with current conditions and it's radar "picture". Amazingly poor example of a "pro" upgraded app. How it can be wrong in a major population center is mind boggling. Avoid!
I was in love with this app... BEFORE full screen and FULL volume (sic!) adds popping every few seconds. Some adds in exchange for free edition is fair game BUT this is THE ONLY free App within my phone which plays adds videos WITH SOUND as DEFAULT Turned On! This is ridiculous attempt to FORCE users to pay Premium. I would say that "motivating to pay premium" with some nice added features or removing adds is one (typical and acceptable) approach BUT playing adds video on full volume when you just poked at rain status being in public place, bus, office, shop... and being embarrassed... This approach is leaving nothing more than disappointment and stone written memories of WHO MADE YOU so embarrassed - RainViewer !!!!!!!! I would (and used to) give 5 stars to this great app but recent add policy change barely keep 2 stars (only because the app is indeed GREAT).
Complaints from a paying subscriber: Widgets seems to have gotten worse in the 2.16 update that was supposedly dedicated to the Material You widgets. The padding on the left and right sides of the widgets is way too much. There's even unnecessary padding on the top and bottom of the widgets. Just take a look at some of the widgets for Google's apps. They don't include padding within the widget. These new widgets look so off-putting on my home screen because of the ginormous padding around them.
It's a great app first and foremost. Infos are clear, everything works as advertised. And I don't mind having ads banner in the app. It makes sense, dev wants to survive and user wants the functionality for free. So, ads is a good thing. But, when full screen ads pop-up every few loops of radar playback that has become a bad thing. Open it once before we start to do anything is fine, not in the middle of something.
I love the app, but ads popping every few seconds are infuriating and make app unusable. I will use websites to avoid this now. Remove these full page ads and will return. Happy to use it with ad banners but never this pop up stuff.
I have map layer Radar and Satellite selected. I have minimal precipitation intensity set to overcast yet it's been overcast in my part of England for 3 days now and the map is still showing as clear as a bell! That even applies to today, where there has been light drizzle all day. Heavier rain indication is accurate though. BTW in English, we only use "with deepest sympathy" to somebody who has been bereaved!
Good app but doesn't show radars from all the countries . In Egypt it is claimed that there is 3 radars, however, this app shows nothing which makes it useless for me !
I paid for the premium app and now you have locked some features under a subscription plan? Shame on you. Uninstalling your app. Reply to the Dev: When I bought this app, there was no prem 1 and prem 2. I bought the full version. Now, to put a second or third fav city, I need to buy a subscription plan??? I will report you to google and request a refund.
Slow to download the weather data, really fast to show adds (video adds), also not accurate, it says "heavy rain" and is barely raining
When I paid for this application to go for premium activate one of the options 24 hours and 48 hours in rain radar but just the application showing 90 minutes Why all other applications they had more than 48 hours please solve this issue or I cannot renewal my subscription.
Use to be better. Far to many Adverts, and slow to load. Dev clearly doing a money grab. But £15 per year is ridiculous price.
Fix the position of radar data of jessore radar of Bangladesh. I have sent many emails showing that jessore radar data is misplaced. I have sent screenshot the radar data from Bangladesh Air force website compairing the app data which matches but there is a difference of 300km in the data causing false notification and stuff. The data once was totally fine but now is screwed up. So fox this issue
Loads only 10% of the time. And sometimes incorrectly shows past 1-2 hours as the present time. When it loads, it does so extremely slowly with the spinner animation every second or so.
This app is out of date with technology it only can show you the past can't show you the future too many ads horrible design don't download this app
Looks like the app only ever says 17% chance of rain on everyday. Looks like a bug to me.
As a hobby meteorologist, this is a great app, especially considering that it is free. If it weren't a subscription model but a one time purchase, I'd even consider buying the full version. It's a shame that's the only option.
I would have given it 5 stars. But I paid for a 1 year subscription on my previous phone and changed to a new one last week, keeping my phone number and Google store account. However, the subscription disappeared and the app asks me to pay again. Seriously?
Very usefull weather App. It can show how the rain clould flow. Send notification before raining.
I like what this app is trying to do, but it's not accurate enough at the moment (in the Netherlands at least). It was drizzling/raining but the widget/radar showed nothing, while my other weather app did indicate rain (weather provider Foreca). Also, would be nice if the widget background could be made transparent. And it should refresh whenever it comes in view if possible somehow, saves pressing the refresh button all the time.
Update: accuracy has gone to the dogs. Completely unreliable at forecasting precipitation of any kind. Only one nearby radar and apparently it's offline? When it works, it's great. but the design is only so-so -- it looks like a badly ported iPhone app. As a replacement for Dark Sky, this is the best I've found - but it has a long way to go. here's to hoping the developers keep investing, because there's a huge Dark Sky-shaped hole that still hasn't been filled. The widget is great.
After the last major update, this app became the only one I use on a daily basis. It is a DarkSky's successor. With satellite and radar animation I quickly understand what to expect in a next half of day, and with the regular forecast I know more about the weather over the next week. Notifications are good, but typically they are lost in tons of another notifications. Widgets helps here: it allows to quick-look at the current conditions. Love this app!
This app is rare one that has huge list of colors to choose for the radar. As someone who's red/green vision deficient I appreciate this very much. The thing that is really bad is coding for the loading cycles. Images are too large and they consume soo much ram memory that the app blocks my entire phone and it crashes eventually. 60 minutes forecast is excellent but the hourly forecast is innacurate. Overall there's a lot of room for improvement for this app, but it has potential to be great.
Came back to this app after a break, and the design has improved a lot since I last looked, selection of informative widgets is excellet, so far it seems to have been very accurate, and the layout and design is excellent. Personally I would prefer a one off payment rather than a subscription, but pricing is certainly better than before. A reponsive developer is excellent, especially when many don't bother to answer genuing questions! Will happily give this app 4 stars, but will happily increase it to 5 star with competitive pricing.
I was literally going to purchase this today, but it just updated and is now subscription based so I changed my mind. It works well but aside from the notifications, it does not really do much more than a good weather app does in terms of radar. Being subscription based means that, over time, it will be a lot more expensive than it was. Pity.
Widget currently not displaying rainfall information, but app is. The rainfall info came back after I opened and closed settings, without making any changes.
Update: May/22. Radar widget in recent update does not function correctly. I have notified service team twice. No results. Disappointing. This app has undergone a major upgrade during the past month. During that period support has worked very diligently to rectify problems associated with the upgrade. As of today, the app is functioning exceptionally well and the support team continues to fine tune and improve features. My previous subscription has been honoured during this transition and nothing has been lost. The new additional optional add on features are now available by yearly subscription and the developer has been fair in offering a 50% discount for the first year. The app continues to evolve with improvements on a regular bases. I highly recommend this app and look forward to the continuing improvements. Thank you for a fine app and your continued diligence.
