Rav-Kav Online - Rav-Kav Loading

Rav-Kav Online is an innovative way to purchase and top-up contracts to your Rav-Kav, the Israeli public transport smart card, from anywhere, anytime, using your credit card.

Do you travel by public transport? Do you use public buses, train, light rail or the Metronit? Are you interested in simply using your mobile device to purchase your tickets?

Join thousands of passengers who are already freely and remotely loading their Rav-Kav cards!

The Rav-Kav Online app offers all of the information you need to quickly and securely choose the best ticket for you.

Purchasing contracts via the app works just the same as purchasing them directly from the public transport operators. All contracts purchased via the app are accepted by all public transport operators as if they were contracts purchased from drivers on-board a vehicle.

This didn't scan my card. I tried removing the cover, clicking on restore NFC functionality and restarting.

App is easy to use, even in English. I am able to load money, check balance or previous trips made, etc. with no issues.

Well, it works. But the flows are confusing and partial. 1. Making a purchase with an expired card just rejects the transaction and forces you to start again, with no way to enter new credit card information or any hint as to what to do next. 2. There is no way to update credit card information. You have to delete the credit card and then make the purchase again and check to save the card information when you enter it. 3. My phone's NFC reader got confused so I had to restart the transaction (a pretty common scenario in my experience). There's no easy way to find the last attempted purchase, so I had to manually scan the list of contracts again to find the one I wanted. But I was able to buy a day pass without dealing with cash or arguing with bus drivers, so yay progress.

You can tell that someone did excellent UX/UI work on this app. It's very clear and intuitive. A minor glitch - when you are browsing contracts and click into one to see details, when you click "back" you're taken back to the contracts home page, instead of to the specific list of contracts you were viewing (ie the list of Daily contracts). It's also tricky to get my phone to connect to the app via NFC, but I don't believe that's the app's fault. Overall, EXCELLENT, such a time saver!

Can't read card status and contents without online connection. (Luckily there's a different app that does allow doing this offline: HopOn's RavKav).

Convenient use as long as you have NFC, no need to go to charging stations. App is pretty easy to understand and works. My only issue with it is that you can't charge daily passes for example, with money you already have loaded on the card. You need to purchase it separately with a credit card. A plus is that the app accepts the post office credit cards, in case you don't wanna use your main one, which I didn't.

Bad bad bad! Tried it for first time and accidentally double purchased the same contract. Why? Because their is no indication that your transaction went through. Zero, none! And even after you discover that you paid twice, it's not clear if the contract is loaded. Had to take a bus to find out it ACTUALLY DIDN'T LOAD ANYTHING. So no I'm 500nis short with 0 contracts on card. Absolute trash!

Review upgraded from 2 stars to 4 stars! Just charged my card easily and painlessly. It is clear that the developers have improved the app greatly. One thing is still missing. The app should explain that you need to remove the card between reading it the first time and charging it. They had told me by email that this was a restriction of the technology. If you don't realize this, you might wait forever for your purchase to complete. Great improvement, devs !

SOLVED: app not loading money Like many here I have struggled with loading contracts on the card. The app reads the card OK and fast, but then when I try to load anything on it it takes forever and then times out. The card stayed where it was under the phone the whole time. Eventually, I figured out that locking my phone after about a minute and then unlocking it, interrupts the endless wait process, and the application recovers and completes the transaction, visible on reading the card. S8+

4 times charged instead one! (got 4 recepts with successfully charge from bank). Crazy payment processor.

Very easy to load contract. Very convenient to use.

This app spares you the inconvenience of finding a Rav Kav ATM and is a life-saver when you board a bus with an empty card. The interface is fairly intuitive in both Hebrew and English. Perhaps the 'contact loading' page can be improved somewhat, though. On that page, it is unclear what the conditions for continuation rides are, and what the 'card operator' is.

For some reasons it doesn't accept debit cards. I contacted the customer support they were arrogant and blamed the credit card company when the card functions well at all other shops or online shopping. This is a bummer to me, as I don't like paying with credit. Otherwise the app is great.

App used to work just fine until last month, but today when I tried to recharge my monthly contracts it just wouldn't detect my card! The antenna should work fine, the phone makes the sound it always did when it detects something with the NFC, but the app doesn't start the "scanning" animation or progresses any further... Why can't it support entering the card number manually, I know it's possible because I once did it on the railway's site for train tickets.

terrible app. it looks great at first but whenever i try to pay for a monthly pass it takes forever and PLENTY of failed attempts for zero reason until one time it finally works. it goes : i pick paying for monthly pass, put my entire credit card info, accepts charge, then it asks me to place my rav kav under my phone again, and then IT NEVER READS IT, so i try it over and over and over and its the most frustratinf thing imagineable

when it works, it's a good app. most of the time though it does not work. it tells me i moved my card to fast... when both card and phone are not moving at all. incredibly frustrating, especially since this app is one of the only ways for us to use the buses.

Need the physical card to use (if I wanted the inconvenience and hassle of finding a charging station what do I need an app for?!). NO parental controls for minors. It's like a flashback to pre-internet times, outdated and old-fashioned methods. The response does not address the issues raised.

horrible. they took my payment but i still have to drive five miles away to run the card through a scanner to activate it. the whole point of installing the app was so i could pay by credit card and avoid the drive into town. this is a useless app which just takes up phone space

Application just stopped working. Trying to read rav-cav with no success. Tried it on 3 different phones galaxy s7, note 4, note 9 with different cards - same result. When I first installed it, it worked fine, but than, after update it just doesn't work!

Vla. B. Jan 10, 2019

*Update* 10.1.19 Old card issue - fixed! Seems like the problem was in my card, which was worn out, just as the support team suggested. Made a new card today and it works like magic! Five stars! Great app, thanks! *OLD* Review: The functions of the app are fine, but trying to read the card is a whole new level of pain in like 98% of the attempts!

Ari. S. Nov 11, 2020

Good but can be improved by making it easier to find monthly/weekly passes for correct regions of the country by adding maps or search by city. PS. Your response helps, but this should be within the app itself plus search by city name too.

I recharged my card with 100 shek, but it seems it credited me 125 shek. A seamless recharge once I got it set up and set up an account. Definitely will be using again. You might want to add in an English (and other language) interface. It's a great app.

joining the rest of the people who just could not get it to work. I have a brand new phone and a card in good condition and it takes forever to scan it. I was able to read it, but then i paid and tried to charge it and that part failed. I hope it didn't charge my credit card. I think using NFC cards for this was a bad idea.

Kos. M. Dec 27, 2018

Just stopped working after update. Used it before and loved it, but after some update, it cant read rav cav any more. Tried it with 3 different phones- galaxy s7, note 4, note 9. On note 4, though it was the battery problem, bought new one. Than tried on note 9 and s7. Same results. Trying to read the rav cav card with no success. After installing last update no change for note9, it still can't read the card, when other app's do it with no problem. 27.12.18 אחרי עדכון חזר לעבוד בנוט9

Exceptionally Useful! It is very efficient at easing up the need to go specifically to Rav-Kav machines or chraging it in the ridiculously slow tram station posts. Yet, if i had one complaint about it is that it is a bit complicated in the sense that theres too many options for the same type of ride-pass. Why not make it more unanimous?

Ted. G. Jul 31, 2019

Absolutely Horrible Took the Credit card details then refused to load the contract and said I will not be charged. I go on line and see 2 charges!! No contract and now am out for 2 monthly contracts. There is only an email address did not get a reply. CC company says Rav Kav online has to cancel it. No reply. No one to talk to. Horrible app horrible service. And the charges still appear. Absolutely horrendous. No answer to the email I sent either.

Kir. L. Apr 20, 2021

Amazing application. No need to go to the ticket office for any reason any more. All the information about contracts is here, ability to buy, notification about expired contract. Everything I need:)

Mic. D. Jan 10, 2021

Outstanding app. As long as the NFC sensor is good, you can read card, purchase contract, and load onto card during the time it takes to walk from the back door of a bus to the driver! If you live in Israel, it's worth buying an NFC phone just to use this app.

Worked perfectly every time I have used it. Just be careful to get the right date when you book in advance (cost me 35 ש"ה the first time I used the card). Some arcane fare combinations but if you persevere you'll find the fare you want. Public transport in Israel is very accessible and, using an app like Moovit I can day trip to most places, from Mitzpe Ramon in the south to the Saar Waterfall in the North. (I live in the Sharon.)
