**edit I gave up on this app and waited 2 days for a new remote to come from a different source. This app really is not good at all. Since downloading it, my phone has never been more than 6 feet away from the device I'm controlling. Yet every time I open it, it has to reconnect, and more often than not, it does not reconnect. I have had RCN service in my house for a very long time, but this app is probably the worst service I've gotten from them.
RCN needs to go back and start over on this one. App is difficult to install and almost worthless if you get it up and running. I have second home with tv service from a competitor and this other company makes it easy to watch live tv on my system. It can be done when the provider recognizes that this feature will help its business.
Absolute trash. You can't even stream through the app. All you can use it for is as a TV guide. You have to install each networks app and watch the shows on there. This app is nothing but a waste of space on my phone. Deleted within 5 minutes. Also, all the reviews get the same auto generated responses. Makes it seem like RCN just flat out doesn't even care
It did work. Apparently there's a dev bug that broke something. Can understand this situation however it should be a simple rollback server side...keyword should. This means a license or right to share data was eliminated for use in the app. Until the app is fixed I cannot give it the rating it deserves. Edit: new update gives a fresh interface and returns the app to working status. Edit 1: 5/18/2022 App no longer functions, continually loops to saying sign in didn't work but I get no sign in.
Useless! I am a new customer coming from Spectrum and I expected the RCN2go to work as well as the Spectrum app I was totally disappointed. You can't really watch channels that you are subscribed to unless you download another app from the network that you want to watch and many of them require a subscription like CBS. I also use a Roku to watch in a second TV and there is no RCN2go app for the Roku so I had to download separate network apps which is just pointless.
Totally useful app that serves no purpose. Not for streaming. Basically just directs to network sites. I had been using the TIVO app for years to stream both in and out if home. Since I was streaming out of home more than in home, I am basically paying more than double the amount that I should be now. This is 2020. Why would you take away out of home streaming?!!! At least reduce the price to compensate.
Like so many other reviews, this app just does not work fully. I can connect and see what shows are recorded on my RCN supplied TIVO, but when I actually try to watch one I get a "cannot stream to this device" error, even though I am using a brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab S7.
Stopped working. The app was good. Now it will not allow login. Disappointed. Error message states the app is to old to work with current Android software. Worked excellent until approximately 6pm yesterday. Reported to RCN app stopped working. Still haven't heard from them. I miss it. 8/13 update still not working 😕 is there an update. 8/20 update. Thank you appears to be working now.
Still doesn't work, since getting service on June 30th 2020. Latest update made it even worse, app just continues to load and load. Still looks like NO ONE is able to use this app, no matter what device you have. I have a brand new Samsung Galaxy S21, still doesn't work.
Like all of the other reviews say, this app is broken and doesn't work. The rcn2go website also does not work :( EDIT: I reached out to RCN as they suggested, not all of their TV boxes support RCN2GO, which mine does not. This is not well stated, and should be more clear, but this not working isn't their fault.
Not good for streaming in my experience, loading time is terrible and a lot of shows need their own networks app or Amazon, so what's the point of this other than an additional set top box remote?
Awful! All I'm getting is network error. For the amount of money I pay, this should be flawless. This is absolutely BS! Fix the damn problem. They want me to edit my review. You get this nonsense fixed, I'll edit. Otherwise I want a refund of some sort for the time this is unavailable. No revision until it is fixed.
I have to agree with everyone else here. The fact that I have to be directed to another app to watch streaming tv is just a terrible idea. If you want to offer free streaming content with our subscription, then have the content within the RCN app, not on the content providers app. I have no desire to receive a canned response from the RCN support team. It is clear RCN hired terrible developers for this app and has no desire to change it based on responses provided to other reviews.
Like others have said, useless app. I don't want to chat with a rep. When I try to play a show I recorded on Tivo, it asks me to log into Amazon Prime, which I DON'T have. I deleted the app. BTW, RCN randomly raised my bill $20 last month.
Just takes me to a page to pay my bill, no option to watch TV. This is the worst tv app. [edited] And no I amusing the RCN2GO app, there must be something wrong with the apps.
Can't stream or even watch shows already recorded on my watch list. Basically the only benefit I see this app serving is as a TV guide with a list of programming.
I have an Android galaxy S20 and I get an error message that RCN2go is built for an older version of Android and may not work properly....well I can't even get to the sign in page. Just repeating errors
its good to be able to watch your shows on other devices. unfortunately its a terrible designed app. takes hours to download a show to your device
Amazing amount of content available everywhere. So much capability is hard to fully utilize, with so many other apps plying for time to master.
please tell me what is going on with the app? You can't retrieve your voicemail messages. Come on guys how is RCN getting customers excited about coming on board if all other providers are providing great service for your TV as well as ON THE GO? Please fix this issue ASAP. RCN please do better before I find better.
I am very confused about purpose of this app. Why would I want to watch Netflix, Hulu, HBO movies on RCN app? They have their own apps. I was expecting that I would be able to watch some live streams here...well I was wrong.
Can't watch ANY of the shows. Tells you you're not connected to the jome network. What's the use of this app if you can't access the channels you are subscribed to when you're away from home?
This app is useless. You can only watch the shows they want you to watch. I would think if I pay for ondemand I could watch whatever whenever. I would come out better downloading the channel apps to watch my shows.
The ap does not work with Android. Part of the RCN service and package is the use of the mobile app like your competition (xfinity, verizon, cutting the cord) so I am now paying for service that doesn't work...?
This is an edited review. After finding the remote option on the app, this does (at least for now) what I need it to do. It replaces the IR remote so I can mount the new mini behind my TV. I do find the UI a bit clumsy with the guide, and I cannot stream to my phone even if I"m on the same WiFi. I'm guessing I could fix via a restart, but, again, this now does what I need.
