So much promise. I bought a voice for this and like the idea. When it works, it is great. But the UI is rubbish, unresponsive, incomprehensible and unusable. Desperately needs someone capable of taking this in hand. When that's done, it will be five stars all the way.
Does the job. Unlike other wiki readers it allows you to decide where to start reading. It sometimes reads image descriptions in the middle of the main text and without warning. That's annoying and confusing.
Would be great if it really worked completely. I can hardly get search to display something. Only worked until now with 2 letters. I tested what hits did show and its quite nice. But doesn't satisfy in it's current state. Shame, Unistalled.
When first install the blank screen is dumbfounded. But typing any subject in the search area brings up the topic. There multiple voices from Google speech engine to select as well as pitch and speed. Overall very good reader.
Nice app, simple and useful. If only it could change article language on the fly, without me having to go back, switch the language and search for the same thing all over again. Still, very useful!
Weird UI opening to a blank page with a swipe menu. Couldnt get it work.
Can't understand a single word.
Bad interface. It shows blank initially. Also, the default language is set to Bangladesh. It requires purchase to control speed.
Just reduced my rating because unless you do a forced stop it continues to run in the background using a small amount of battery. How does a new voice fix my running in background problem.
A little playing around, amazing app so far. Having the article as the top level of the navigation hierarchy is quite confusing.
Good, and works in many languages. I downloaded a local speech engine that I use with this on my other phone.
Needs ability to delete items from queue and add item to queue from actual wikiledia page once you open from search, two small improvements that would improve app vastly, other than this, works fine.
Crashes immediately on start up. Works for others apparently. Hopefully it will be fixed eventually.
Saw this on Hack5. Works as advertised.
The application is great! It is only as good as the TTS engine you use though. I found a bunch by CereProc here on Google play. At only $0.99 it really beats Google s TTS. I have not run into any bugs with the software. Only the typical issues you have with an TTS, words are not spoken correctly etc. Being able to change speed and pitch in the app is brilliant.
I originally thought it wasnt working, but there was a grounding error between my phone and the floor, it has since been fixed. I saw this app on an episode of Hak5 and they seemed to like it so I decided to check it out. I'm excited to use this app while commuting to work.
It's amazingly good at reading. There are juste a few text areas that are sometimes a little annoying like the disambiguation paragraph. I wich it could avoid those.
This is the app of my dreams. I've been struggling with a diy solution for a while now, but today I randomly decided to watch an episode of a tech show I almost forgot existed titled; "The Best Wikipedia Reader EVER! - Hak5 2123" I checked it out and scrambled to my phone as soon as they mentioned the name only to be a bit confused. I searched for the name exactly word for word and wasn't able to find this app at all, turns out your app is waayyy down the bottom of the list even for people searching for it by name unfortunately As for the app, it might as well be perfect because the only things I can find wrong with it are petty or just preference.
Great app, would love to be able to have other Wikipedia languages, so that I can have articles in my native language.
It's a fine app. But I'm missing the feature to change the actual wiki language. I don't always wanna change my phones language. Also a optional scroll while reading function would be nice and a tap to read from here or highlight to read a section would be awesome. Nevertheless good job so far. Keep up the good work :)
This is a great app that has great support! The developer is very attentive & responsive to questions. The app has all the features I was looking for. Remember press the menu in upper left hand corner and search for your first article.
Keeps crashing on HTC 10 Android 7.0. Other than that, it will be a great app.
add possibility of changing text language. because I had to change system language from my native language to eng, it's not that big of a deal, but some might have some troubles with this feature. And make menu button relative, so if I scroll the page I wouldn't have to scroll it back for menu, or just make access to it by sweep
Great app! Working very well so far, the only thing missing is the possibility to backup saved articles.
Great app. Needs a few additional features like a sticky main menu button but overall it is a great tool.
Love it, been waiting for something like this. So easy to use
Please add wikipedia's other language pages in the search as an option.
It's not working on my S7.
All I see is a blank screen, doesn't work for me. Hope this is fixed, others seem to like it.
The blank load up page can be a little confusing, but after clicking around its quite easy, I just clicked on the search function amd started typing. I'm notnusing this for academics etc. I justbhave a very long commute to work 3 or 4 days a week, 100 miles round trip. This is nice to have when I want to look something up in more detail but want to stay handsfree or relatively hands free and don't want to wait half an hour toblook it up.
