It logs me out after a period of time, doesn't allow for automatic entry of credentials, so I have to manually type them in, without leaving the app to check if they are right because... IT RESETS THEM and I have to start all over again. Nearly unusable. Once I'm logged in, it relatively stable... Though as others have said, the ”audiobook” is really janky, it only plays a portion of the chapter, you have to manually make it go to the next...
No bookmarking feature and it's not easy to highlight or look up terms like most other reading apps for literally the last decade. If I could give it a zero, I would, but that's not possible, so I give it a one. Update: Terrible read aloud feature. Reads the page number in the middle of sentences, can't recognize symbols like μ, β, or α properly (commonly used in science/math), and the window isn't moveable, sometimes blocking the words.
As of 3/1/22: the chapters are not synced correctly between the LS and the textbook. Chpt 18 in LS is sending me to Chpt 9 in the book. I've been using this app for 3 semesters now. Lately it has many many issues with loading correctly and to fix it I have to constantly uninstall and reinstall. I wish I could change the color of the background of the book so easier on the eyes.
The app works amazing when working correctly! However it frequently glitches and kicks you off the app as well as it doesn't load the different Smartbooks unless you uninstall and reinstall the app. In other cases it lets you open the chapter but then refuses to load the actual text. I think it's a great idea for this app it just needs a lot of work to be functional.
When the app works, it is easy to navigate. However, the app frequently crashes and refuses to open the sections you need until you uninstall and then reinstall it which is incredibly frustrating. I don't always have access to a computer so being able to use mobile apps to read and do assignments is great when I have a few minutes but this is honestly just becoming such a hassle.
overall it's a nice app to have, that allows access to content across devices. however it needs some serious upgrades in the note-taking areas. 4 color choices for highlight is insufficient. Even with circles, rectangles and underlining added it still bleeds together. The fact that it actively blocks some tools or companion note apps, just seems greedy.
This needs to handle a lot better the play back controls are super hard and it will play in the background but when ur screen turns off it stops it and sometimes u lose ur place and somtimes u have to restart a topic. The reading needs to be done by a real person not a program. Some of the words are not pronounced correctly.
Honestly, it could be a lot better. I just started using this app, and it already crashed on me while I was creating notes. I also hate the fact that I can't seem to print any of the important pages to keep as reference. l also did not pay 90 dollars just to have this ebook taken away from me after the semester is over. The app is very sensitive to touch and not very good when needing to stay on a page or turn to another.
No built-in dictionary or settings to change full screen configuration. Not a fan of the vertical scrolling, but only because I'm used to horizontally flipping through books. Text renders quick enough, but it could be a better if it felt more "seamless".
Hard to navigate, unintuitive. Frustrating to have to navigate to each section though the table of contents without being able to swipe or tap next for a more seamless experience while reading material.
Download option is pretty much useless. The app will log you out after a few days, so if you mostly use your textbook on your computer, and then have to use your phone (for me it's when I'm traveling) then you're out of luck. Please extend the time that it logs you out to like a month or something. Thanks!👍🏽
How can you get anything done when the app is constantly glitching, shutting down and not allowing you to do anything. I have to uninstall and reinstall the app. The redownload the chapter I'm working on. Then I'll be lucky if it works for more than 10 min.
not fond of the page-turning. if there's a better way I haven't figured it out yet. it would also be nice to have more personalization settings. but it's convenient, and nice to have instead of a real textbook.
Clunky, difficult to use, page layout is awful, flipping through pages is a terrible experience, etc. This app is so bad that I turned to other methods of accessing the textbooks I already paid for just to avoid using it. Stay away from this app if you have any choice at all.
for a short while app is great, I can see everything I need and takes me to correct reading, but then it suddenly I would have to reinstall chapters that I already downloaded and won't let me go from the assignments to the reading. would be helpful if bugs are fixed soon.
So far, re-downloading it for the spring 2022 semester, it's working great for reading and smart book questions. I haven't taken a quiz on it, not do I know if it has that capability. It hasn't crashed yet and I've had it for over a week.
The ease of being able to access my text book from my phone is a great help and comfort. Using this app allows me to have my book pulled up on my phone while I do homework on my computer. I don't have to keep switching between tabs.
I love it. It's convenient and easy to use. I would like to see an option for dark and sepia mode and also maybe an option that allows you to save highlights and make notes. Good work you guys!
I've given up on using the app for SmartBook assignments, I got tired of restarting the same assignment over and over. Textbook works fine, but an option to turn on dark mode would be great.
Not being able to tap to turn pages is weird. You have to scroll to the bottom of each page and then drag like your refreshing the page to go forward. Not conducive to easy reading.
The app was okay, but it's missing the assignments. When I looked online, I was shocked to find that I had assignments today, but, when I checked on my phone it said that I had none. If I didn't checked my computer, I would've had a late assignment. This really needs to be fixed.
Do Not use this app, it keeps crashing, and does not stay on any page as it skips to another on its own, or jumping to the bottom of the page. Til' McGraw hill makes an update that fixes this i will not continue to use it!
I absolutely love McGraw Hill Connect read anywhere app! it's so convenient and easy to use. when I'm out and have time I can get either reading or assignments dine in the go, rather then carry around a tablet or laptop.
Can be a little difficult to navigate sometimes. I would love to be able to copy and paste, even a limited amount of words, just to make my psych class a little easier as I quote and cite. I would also prefer if I could swipe left and right instead of scrolling. I do dislike the way that at the end of certain sections, the page stops scrolling, then jumps to the next page entirely. But, at the end of the day, it's not a bad app and the ability to highlight and cloud sync is nice.
