RealBudget - Envelope Budgeting

This is the best app ever! You put your money in an envelope, you get to label your envelope without having to pay money to the app, and every time you enter a transaction it shows you a picture of the money you spent. And the whole thing is free with no annoying ads! It really brings back the feeling of paying cash in an age of wire transfers. The only tweak I would make is that I wish the app would let me see the money still in my envelope in cash.

It was great..for the first month. It said I was out of envelopes so I deleted everything from the current month to create new ones in the coming. Only for it to STILL say I was out of envelopes. It never told me that I only get to "use" them once. I assumed it meant 10 active envelopes, not 10 EVER made. Felt like it was not a free app but a one month free trial

This app was exactly what I wanted in every way, except one thing that means I won't be using it sadly. It doesn't seem to let me change the "segment" dates. I want the segment to start on my pay day (I get paid every other Friday, biweekly) but there are just preset intervals. Otherwise, great app.

Simple and exactly what I needed! I would like to be able to customize the font on the envelope or make it slightly bigger. Also when I click on my grocery envelope for example I would love to be able to see the amount displayed in dollar bills there as well (above the transactions)

I was looking for a simple, no frills, minimalistic budget app after I had switched to Android. After few fruitless attempts, I have found exactly what I was looking for. This app is easy to use, make your life easier, not the other way around which is sometimes the case with apps, showing your budget at a glance with realistic visuals and nice penmanship. This app is what I was looking for when I thought of the traditional and true envelope budgeting. No complications, its simple and easy to use - envelope, budget, amount spent, amount remaining - that's what I needed, without all the fancy. I would have given 5 stars if it showed a sum total of the budget, spent and remaining (as is done for the envelopes).

This is exactly what I was looking for. I am a fan of the "envelope system" but using actual cash is a pain. Tried other apps, but linking bank accounts and cards is problematic: One Amazon purchase is for me, another for a DIY home project, so tags never work. And most major expenses don't change (mortgage, retirement). Plus, my bank offers tracking on its webpage. I just want to track personal spending, eating out, groceries... things I can limit and change. This is that. My wife and I set limits and we track. It allows us to pump the brakes (or not), but the data is like using a food app (i.e., Carb Manager). Not a fan of subscriptions (even 99 cents a month) but it allows my wife and I to coordinate. We used to crib notes on spending, only to be surprised later; we appreciate the real time aspect. Basic, but that's okay.

As a former Simple customer, I have been struggling to find an app that works the way Simple did. This app provides the essential part that I really enjoyed with Simple, and that is envelope budgeting. It doesn't connect to your bank account so you have to remember to enter the transactions yourself. The app is very easy to use. I'm glad that transactions can be edited or deleted. The interface is clear and easy to read. Overall, I am more pleased with this app than any other I have tried.

Easy to set up and use. No pop up ads. Would like ability to have a screen to record multi envelope withdrawals and the particular amount for whatever envelope instead of having to record each withdrawal separately in each particular envelope screen. And also... be able to choose which envelope(s) to "carry over" instead of all of them.

If you want a real easy way to develop and track your budget as you go thru the month...This is It! Forget those spreadsheets, collecting reciepts, linking credit cards and bank accounts...do it real time as you pay by credit card, check or cash. Know right away where you are on your monthly budget.

Just what I was looking for. Simple. Easy to use. Basic system. Just like having real envelopes. $1.00 for unlimited envelopes. I like that I can write a lot on the envelopes. EDIT: after reading reviews, I didn't know about the "carry over" option. Changing my 3 stars to 4 stars!

Perfect simple envelope budgeting! Exactly what I wanted. I'm already a planner got my monthly and yearly excel sheets. Most budget app are fancy analyser connected to your bank account. I DID NOT NEED ALL THAT! This is a virtual wallet with envelopes to manage my transactional account. Thank to their great client support... even when the user is what's wrong! 😅

I just downloaded it, so I won't give 5 stars yet. BUT I give it 4 stars just for being easy to set up... exactly like grabbing a stack of envelopes, labeling each, and then adding money. So far my only complaint is that you cannot customize the dates. I get paid every other Thursday and it would be nice to be able to set up a biweekly budget starting on pay day.

So far, this is the only mobile app that suit my needs. It allows me to set up a budget for the following month. Instead of using cash/debit, I use credit cards. I assign each credit card to a particular use such as food purchases, shopping and copays, car services and gas, etc. Since credit cards have different billing cycles, the app's functionality to allow future month budgetting had helped me track how much I spend on each envelope. If possible, can you make the envelope smaller width?

So far is in my opinion the best app as far as keeping you envelopes organized, the only problem I have is when moving the envelopes to an other month it should give you the option to move just the balance itself, most of my envelopes are savings acounts and i dont add the same amount of money every day. But when you move the envelopes woth remaining balace it will add your starting budget with it. But overall is a good app.

I was really loving this app at first and even got my teenage son to start using it so he could start learning budgeting on the right foot. However, month two rolls around &. it wants me to create all new envelopes for this month. Can I roll my envelopes from last month (with their balances & etc) over? Sure! BUT ... golly, you don't have enough spare envelopes now to do that. But hey, you can buy more! What What's the point of this if I have to start fresh each month?!?

I really love the graphics and design, it looks so real! I did however uninstall the app because I'm looking for something where I can add and subtract money from an account/folder. I'd like to keep all my incomes and expenses on the same app. This app is for someone looking for something simple to keep track of how much money they currently have. I'll be on the lookout for further updates!

This is the best virtual envelope system I have used. It acts just like the envelope system I kept when I used cash. With Covid I wanted to maintain my envelopes system digitally. I am so glad this app was created. I like that there are not too many bells and whistles yet offers ability to enter deposit and withdrawal and Write vendor for the purchase. This helps me stay very organized. Thank you for making this so user friendly and covers EXACTLY what I needed. Very user friendly!!!!

I had 8 envelopes and when I tried to carry then over to the next month, the app stated I didn't have enough free envelopes. Deleting and recreating the envelopes didn't work-- it's 10 free envelopes from the beginning, not existing. Good app but not what I'm looking for.

Great simple envelope app. I love that it doesn' synch to a bank account. I do wish there was an option to add more money to envelope during the month. I'd give it 5 stars then, for sure.

This app is simple and easy to use which makes it perfect for tracking your spending from your envelopes. I update my envelopes every month then whenever I spend money I just quickly enter into the appropriate category.

Would say this is a great cash envelope system app except that currency options are very limited. I wish there was option to choose currency for Nigeria, then I would definitely stick to using it because I practice the cash envelope system, but cannot use a currency different from my transacting country. Reason for 3 stars.

They have a certain amount of envelopes you can use that are free until you have to purchase envelopes to use. Which in my opinion is ridiculous because I am using a FREE app to help me budget my money not spend on something as unnecessary as a virtual envelope.

The app is simple and good. To lmprove it: Put reports on PDF and excel for backup in email Put font control to avoid big figures overlapping Put total of when displaying all individual envelopes

So far I like the app, it is easy to use. I wish there was a vendor name section in addition to notes; whether I keep it or not would be decided on if the envelope money transfers over month to month which is a reason I got rid of last app

I don't understand why it doesn't pull over remaining money to the next month. The only options I saw were to pull the exact starting budget or to double your envelope budget. At the end if the month if I have remaining money I don't want to manually pull over. Also if I have less money than budget I don't want to manually enter. What is the point of an app if you have to do everything manually? Edit after response That pulls budget and balance. I want to be able to pull over just the balance.

Very simple but effective. You can carry over the envelopes into next month with the balance. You can also view your money spent, remaining and all these in monthly overview.

I never write reviews but this app is exactly what I was.looking for! I used many other budgeting apps but they were more than what I needed.This app is simple and easy to use and I love that you can actually see envelopes.Thank yoi developers for.keeping it simple.

Its simple and easy to use. I would like if there was a way to turn off the money display after entering a transaction though as it just wastes time for me.

This app is amazing! I love how simple and basic it is. I'm also happy that I do not have to link my bank account to it. I paid the .99 cents to be able to share the app with my spouse.
