No ability to set notifications for specific needs, eg set recall for specific vehicle I own, or typical food I purchase that has higher risk/probability or demonstrated frequency of recall (example, lunch meat). Basically just an exhausting list across several tabs. In this day and age of technology, the government can and should provide better!
The official Recalls and Safety Alerts app from the Government of Canada works well and contains a lot of high quality, useful, helpful, and important information that I would otherwise have to visit the specific government department's official website to read, which I hardly ever do. The app makes this much easier to remember and this extra little peace of mind is really cool to have! Thank you very much to the app developer and Google Play for making this happen!
Loved this app. Pls make it easy for us by updating the old app instead of complicating it with Facebook etc. I'm not on Facebook, Instagram etc nor are lots of people. Can't stand them..
Very disappointed this app has been discontinued. The mobile website is fine but this was a good reminder on my home screen.
It's best to use more as a directory than an actually useful alert app. Literally as useful as a the webpage - which this app essentially is
It would be better if it gave you an option to receive notifications. I always have to open the app daily to see what's new. Please update.
I'd like to be notified for certain alerts... Please allow this (Notifications are not turned off for this app)
very useful but doesn't have notifications or option to enable any types of latest recalls
Everyone's complaining that they have to open the app to check. That's the whole point. How is the app supposed to know what products you bought? People would complain about how the notification has too many products in it. This is why the users don't design apps.
It would be nice to get daily notifications instead of having to go to the app to check
Excellent and up-to-date reporting - - - and a trusted source
Why cancel something that worked so well. Government, eh? Enforce bad ideas and get rid of something that works just fine.
many features but only one working
not updated at all, useless app
good source of information
Doesn't give us the option to get notification
Downloaded and upon initial opening error message appears 'error loading recall data'..I left it alone for a few days...reopened another day..same error message. This app is garbage.Again our tax paying dollars hard at work I guess. Thanks alot.
This isn't really an app so much as a web view wrapping the website... You can just as easily open the website on your device without needing this app, so I don't really see the point. It always requires a connection (which is fine, generally), but the servers are terribly slow considering how little data is actually being transferred. I hoped for an app that could send me daily push notifications on my phone so I'd see any new recalls. That's just not possible because, like I said, this isn't really an app.
Getting recalls for specific provinces should be available as functionnality of the app. Instead of having to scroll down the list to try to find products sold in a specific province. Also notifications should be added for specific provinces. Useless as it is.
Stop whining about it being a 'wrapper' for the website - having it in app form is a lot more convenient and easy to read on a phone, and it delivers what it promises!
A quick way to view Health Canada's recall notices. Saved searches are a nice way to check for recalls from stores you shop from and brands frequently bought.
The app is less functional since alerts are less shareable compared to the website. Website allows you to share alerts, etc, to Facebook where app requires you to have Facebok mobile app installed. If there's an automatic email alert mail list, I'd subscribe to that instead untill this app is improved. I'm uninstalling this app.
App has completely failed.
Please add notification functionality based on saved searches
Recall data won't load.
Installed the app and tried to load the alerts and nothing happened!
Useful.... When it loads.
This app is working again :-) (Can only assume it stopped working because of former government) EVERY Canadian should have this app just as an easy way of keeping up to date on safety recalls of products they own.
Apr 7/16, ver 1.5 wasn't working on new phone/system. Upgraded and voila it not only works but it appears that the issues with the back button have been fixed as well. Giving 4 stars for now, not sure what it would take for 5, ...
Very handy except not well implemented. It's nice having a list of all recalls available quickly except whenever you go back to the main list it always goes back to the top! This means scrolling down to the bottom again and clicking Load More. So frustrating that I gave up trying to read through the list.
