The functionality is fine. The transcription feature is great. But it's practically unusable unless you're using the phone mic. I'm using the newest Pixel Buds and the app will not use the Bluetooth microphone. Unfortunately not everybody can have the phone less than an arm's length from their mouth when talking. Moreover, it's supposed to work with Bluetooth mics since the end of '20. I see this issue in tons of message boards and there still is no fix.
This is a fantastic tool, but it's simplicity means limited uses. I believe it would be a great benefit for users to include a pitch pipe. Having to download another application when this software is present and potentially capable is unfortunate.
This is good but has limited features for anything other than translate and transcript. I would love to see background suppression like the camera app has. It would be good to then edit the sound after to adjust peaks.
It's nice the this app is free. strives to offer something similar to Otter, although it's not remotely there yet. As others point out, the main issue is audio reception of the phone mic and the inability to use Bluetooth mics
I just recorded a whole 13 minutes assuming in 2022 that a Pxel 6 connected to Pixel Buds using the Google Voice recorder would default to the earbuds as audio in. Damn. And there is no way to select audio input. Tried Voice Recorder Pro ($3.99 US) and it too does not select the ear buds for audio.
I love the auto sync with Google Drive, however this app offers no way to modify the gain of the microphone, which makes it useless for my needs as my external microphone clips a ton.
The audio is uneven. Some parts are too loud and then too quite. It fluctuates annoying too quick and much. Doesn't have a good equilizer.
About as basic as basic gets. No features at all really. I'm secretary for a board and would like to use it to record meetings so I can compile minutes. The ability to speed up and slow down playback seems like a basic function this should have but doesn't.
Cannot find the recorded files on my phone, if I want to get the file I have to share it to my email to get it. Extremely inconvenient. Trying another app now.
No bluetooth mic I've tried works, it only uses the internal one... It's supposed to be auto-switching and it doesn't... No option to select manually which mic to use... I wonder if it works on other phones but a native Google app doesn't work on their latest flagship (Pixel 6 Pro), pretty disappointing...
Update has stalled and is preventing all my other apps from updating for days now. Can't uninstall it so don't know how I will get my apps updated.
Been using this for years on my Pixel 3 for class lectures. The transcription is pretty accurate and has been working fine. The problem now is with the new update and the new interface. The giant buttons block literally half the screen, I'm not a 3 year old that can't see, the transcript tab is the most useful and is now a lot smaller, I just want to be able to see the text without having to export it to docs.
It would be nice to be able to swap between similar transcription results, to find what was really the right word. It would also be nice if there was a button in the phone app to record calls. Otherwise it works really well. At least for English. I Wish I could use it in French, this would be my best app.
