Recreated ZX Spectrum
The Recreated ZX Spectrum - is the only authorised, full-size recreation of the 1980s personal computer... the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
This is the official companion app for the Recreated ZX Spectrum ... for selected Android devices ... including phones, tablets and connected TVs. This app includes Chuck Egg, Sinclair BASIC and a huge game bundle. New games and applications will be available with each update of this app.
Before using your Recreated ZX Spectrum, we recommend you view the Operating Guide (Video). To do so tap on the button in this app. The video is approximately 18 minutes long. Each of its 12 chapters can be viewed individually using the index at the end of the video. (Internet connection required.)

About the Recreated ZX Spectrum Android app (available Thu 15th Oct, ’15):
The three most significant ZX Spectrum games of all, ‘Chuckie Egg’, Jet Set Willy’ and ‘Manic Miner’ ... are exclusive to the Recreated ZX Spectrum.
Yet more games and applications will be available from 3rd-party vendors. A list of games and applications for the recreated device can be found at RecreatedZXSpectrum.com The list will be kept under review and will continue to be revised, as new games and applications become available, well in to the future. Games and applications from 3rd-party vendors can also be found by searching the Google Play Store, using the search terms "Recreated ZX Spectrum".
The Recreated ZX Spectrum Android app can also be used without the Recreated ZX Spectrum ... using touch screen controls, (when doing so be sure to change 'original game controls' to 'iDaptive game controls' within the app) ... and includes information about the recreated device, including details of from where it may be purchased.
About the Recreated ZX Spectrum online web app (when used with Android devices):
The Recreated ZX Spectrum online web app can be found at RecreatedZXSpectrum.com under the heading Games & Apps. It may be used with but is not optimised for use with any Android devices - consequently the games and applications contained in the online web app may run slowly when used with Android devices. It too contains Chuckie Egg, Sinclair BASIC and a huge game bundle. When using the Recreated ZX Spectrum with the online web app (for Macs and PCs) ALL OF THE INCLUDED GAMES AND APPLICATIONS ARE FREE OF CHARGE. This because the Recreated ZX Spectrum online web app can only be used with the recreated device.

KNOWN ISSUES: there are a couple of known issues with this app. If you’ve previously installed a version of this app then it’s possible that Option>Rotation Lock defaults to ‘portrait’. For ease of use this should be set to 'off'. This can be done by tapping on the icon. Also, there's no Settings option for the iDaptive Controls, which means that the opacity of the on-screen controls can't be changed. Consequently, they're invisible (indeed they're inactive) in landscape mode. There are probably other issues. We’re working on fixes for these issues and hope to include them in an early update.

Think of everything bad you could have in an app, mash it all together and this would still be worse. Pay to play (£3.49 PER GAME), terrible UI and random crashes. Seriously, don't waste your time with this
You have to pay before any play so you can't even test how good it works on your phone maybe if you actually got a 'working test drive demo' to see if you like it or not I would have probably given it 5☆ but it's just a bad way of extorting money from you change give people a proper playable demo on any game to see what they're getting your positive reviews will go up
Recreated keyboard does not work. Loses programmed keys every ti e. Disappointed. Could have been brilliant
Just played this for a laugh and Chuckie Egg brought back good memories. The controls are a bit odd though in okacemen8of the buttons
Paid 3.59 to play. Fine. Logged back 8n later and now wants another 3.59 to play! Daylight robbery I DO NOT recommend 😡
VERY DISAPPOINTED GOT IT FOR JET SET WILLY SO DOWNLOADED AND THATS WHEN IT TELLS YOU HAVE TO BUY IT I WAS NOT HAPPY BUT I PAYED FOR IT ,I PLAYED IT FOR A BIT THEN I LEFT THE APP WENT BACK ON TO PLAY IT AND IT SAYS I HAVE TO BUY IT AGAIN IF IT HAD SAID RENT I WOULD NOT HAVE GOT IT. I bought these games once, downloaded the app and says i need to buy again!
There are better emulators which are totally free.
Worked once but wouldn't work again. Didn't answer emails. Avoid.

OK SO I INSTALLED THIS APP AND AFTER LOADING IT YOURE PROMPTED TO PAY FOR EACH OF THE GAMES. SO I PAID AND PLAYED TWO OF THEM AND IT SEEMED FINE SO I THOUGHT GREAT. AFTER I TURNED MY PHONE OFF AND CAME BACK TO IT LATER TO PLAY AGAIN IT WOULDNT LET ME UNLESS I PAID FOR THE GAMES AGAIN. WHY WHEN IVE ALREADY PAID FOR THE GAMES IVE NOT PAID PER PLAY.........
I love the hardware for this app but if you reinstall the app all your game purchases will be lost and you'll need to buy them all again. The developers will reimburse you but it's hassle and takes time. Would be easier if they just fix the problem. Unfortunately feels like abandonware now. Fortunately I also have the ZX Vega which doesn't suffer these issues.
Having the actual Recreated ZX Spectrum hardware means I can play all the supported games using the web app and masses of them offline via this Android app. Works great on the big screen too when casting my tablet via my Chromecast. 26/03/16 Had to reinstall after having had tablet repaired now all my purchased games are asking to be purchased again the consume option doesn't work so can't play my games and the expensive keyboard is useless to me. Asked for support but still is the same bad place.
Dowload MARVIN instead and then redefine the keys. Games are free, work just as well with the Recreated ZX SPECTRUM. This app is just a sales room for games and it's not a very good one at that. Tiny icons leading to details pages that don't even display the game's title. The price isn't shown until the last page either. Ashamed much? Nothing useful like a user forum, tips and tricks page, comprehensive instructions, social media links, links to other content such as videos on YouTube etc. No reviews, no meaningful content at all really.
Tab S doesn't seem to support landcaspe view, even though S6 does but apart from that it's now working fine. Thanks Steve for contacting me.
Great fun, but more named save slots would be welcome, Sinclair Basic working well, need to be able to save with program name instead of going into tablet and re-nameing internally, this can only get better. 23/11/2015, have waited some time now, changes need to be made, more named save slots and extra stuff, don't let us down. 10-01-2016--still not able to name programs and still only 4 save slots, any news Steve ???
I bought the sinclair spectrum recreated keyboard especially for the dizzy games and slightly magic, but the selection of games is appalling, I paid £30 for what..
I paid for a game and enjoyed the following day wanted to play again and it wanted my to buy again I tried the consume button no didn't work. Maybe when enough people have complained and you get rid of this bug I'll try again :-(
Purchased the Spectrum a while ago, but just got round to trying it, now I fimd out all support has been removed. Complete waste of money.

Bought the recreated ZX Spectrum hardware and it does not work with the app. Supposed to give you access to more games but does not.
Paid 79p for manic miner and when I closed app I lost the game so next time I went to play it expects me to pay again ! Total con !
My phone won't even discover the keyboard. It just won't show up under Bluetooth using Android 8.0
Takes me back to the early 1980's! Great fun and easy to set up once you read the instructions.
Please add also adventure games like the ones from Level 9.... we now have a decent ZX Spectrum keyboard to dabble with :)
I got this app to use with the recreated zx spectrum keyboard. One of the selling points was that you could program in spectrum Basic. I was really disappointed to discover that BASIC is not fully supported. You cannot save array data with the statement SAVE string DATA array name. You can only save the program you have written, none of your data that you might input to your program like a database of names and addresses and telephone numbers for example. Not even an update to fix this issue.
