Red Herring

This is a very fun and engaging game. It's great that you have three modes to play, each with a different difficulty. Asking for hints is vital on the hard mode. That said, you will run into a lot of stuff you won't know. It gets frustrating at those times, but you just get hints and move on. I've found the odd word I'd argue, but not often. It's a great feeling to solve a puzzle on hard without help!

As a non-native English speaker I'm used to not recognising some of the words in puzzle games, but this time there were a lot! Not that that's a bad thing, I learned a few new things while playing but it does make this less relaxing than I'd usually go for in a game. Being able to start over in a different difficulty when you're really stuck was great.

Simple interface, no annoying music or ambient noise, red herring swims across at beginning, and noise to indicate you finished is just fine. Over all a good game! Normal level is at a good independent level for me, with little challenge, just a good way to get your mind off things. Challenge level is just the right amount of frustration. Had to use a dictionary for one word and I enjoyed learning a new word. It's a keeper.

I was really enjoying this game, that I only found out about because it was in PlayPass. Completed multiple packs. About two weeks ago, the game crashed while I was installing a new pack, and when I tried to open it again, it crashed again. I get the first screen with a red fish on it just fine, but clicking to get to the pack selections crashes it. Sent a message to support that day, hoping for a fix that wouldn't lose my progress. They've not responded to me in the two weeks.

Incredible concept, brilliant in its simplicity. This game is everything a mobile game (and really, any game) should be. Easy to pick up at any time for a short challenge, but deceptively difficult to master! One of the best word games I've played, ever. I wish they put a little more effort into the graphics and design. I understand wanting to keep it simple, but a better UI would go a LONG way.

Unusual word game that has different levels of difficulty. Sometimes the answers are a little too obscure to get, but that's true of crosswords as well. I've never been so stuck that I couldn't at least finish on the easy level. Generally a game takes 1-5 minutes to complete. There are full page ads before and after every game and a lot of the games are behind a pay wall. But there's always one free daily game to play. Sounds are pleasant & relaxing.

Excellent concept, but most people would agree that this is WAY too money-grubbing. There's a point at which a game tries to make so much money that the player loses overall interest, and this game takes a huge leap over that line. The free games are decent, but are extremely limited (which becomes evident when one notes the hundreds of pay-to-play levels). Additionally, the culture-centric cstegories make it almost impossible for many, and some levels have multiple possible solutions.

Really like the idea behind the game and when it works the gameplay is fine and logical but it was unfortunately so glitchy I uninstalled it after a few rounds. (Tiles having one word on them when selected, another when they aren't; unpromped messages about purchases not being completed; etc.) I look forward to hearing the problems have been corrected and trying the game again.

A decent puzzle game of working out the categories that a collection of words have in front of you, with some 'red herrings'. No thrills graphics belie its moreish quality. Can be quite addictive for awhile, but tougher selections can leave you stumped, with all free hints gone & you have to pay for more. Here is the game's biggest problem - it can be repetitive but it's the £4.99 price tag for all of it that lets it down - even in stages with just 50 more puzzles for £1.99?! Good but overpriced

Really engaging, challenging game, perfect to focus the mind at the start of the day or over a tea break. It seem and looks very simple and in many ways it is, which is part of its charm, but don't let that fool you as some of the puzzles can really have you guessing when trying to match the correct words together; especially with the red herring words which give the name it's title. Most games I find I complete in under five minutes, which is perfect for this "quick tea break" sort of game, and has a new game to download each day, as well various other additional categories both free and premium. Only very minor niggle I would have is that some of the categories it brings up are very American-centric references which can be lost on non-American players such as myself, which isn't very helpful when trying to solve a puzzle. This is a very minor gripe though and is still a very engaging little game. If like myself you enjoy the odd five minute quick word puzzle sort of game, this one is worth a look.

I've played this game for years, on several phones. (Yes, this means I bought a few packs more than once.) I suffered through the recent bugginess and even tried kindly reporting. Only response was a snarky "reboot your phone." Of course I'd already tried that several times, and clearly the bugs are beyond one person's phone. Today I'm uninstalling, and I recommend they shut down this app if they can't fix the simple bugs.

(I like this game even more now but pretty please add an option to change the font size or at least make the font larger by default. These old eyes would really appreciate it.) Fun and challenging but more of a trivia game than a word puzzle. Sometimes a bit cringy with obscure groupings they're not too frequent. I look up stuff I don't know so it's also educational.

It's a neat idea, but the actual puzzles are awful. The point of the game is to organize words into categories, but the categories are confusing and arbitrary. I got a puzzle where 7 of the 16 words were all cities in Italy, so obviously one of the categories was cities in Italy. But which cities are included in that!? The categories can also be things as vague as "things that are round".

About 2 weeks ago the app started crashing when I tried to play it. I have written 3 times politely asking for help and gotten zero response from the company. I have reinstalled. Restarted, cleared cache. Etc. All the normal things one does to troubleshoot and still crashing.too bad. Like I said, I had really liked this game. *update : right after getting this response I reinstalled the game and it worked again. Not sure what changed. But happy it did.

As oft mentioned here, it is quite enjoyable to play; however, the cost to value ratio is misaligned. $2 USD per pack of a paltry 50 puzzles? Absurd! If an "All future packs," and a "Remove ads," purchase option were available at a reasonable price, then I would happily pay for the content. But, it's currently $40 USD to purchase all of the packs, and any new packs will be between $2 USD and $5 USD. Many 4K console games cost less.

It's a fun game about sorting things into categories. That being said, some require some niche knowledge to figure out. And what's available without purchase runs out quickly, and the prices for add-ons are quite frankly absurd. It was fun for 30 minutes, but ultimately I uninstalled it.

I saw where I gave it 3 stars a few months ago, but I've been playing it a while now and I give it 4 and 1/2, easy. Only thing is sometimes it's a bit TOO hard, but that's what a game is about, right? Not many ads, no distracting graphics, a real thinking game. I play it every day to warm up my brain; I love it! Thanks, developers!

Very good idea, but two things : I find it annoying when an item clearly did belong in a set when said set was revealed, but was excluded from the set for no apparent reason. Secondly, I find the US-centricity hampers my enjoyment somewhat. But on the whole, a really good game and we'll worth pursuing.

A really good game and well executed, but often there are words that belong in a list that aren't part of the correct list. This is in the normal category, and it is either a mistake - or something added simply to make the puzzle harder. It doesn't seem to follow logical rules and feels like a cheap cop-out. Because this game is very clever, I'd suggest eliminating that sort of thing. Afterall - if it is a correct choice and fits the list - it is not a red herring haha. Play by your own rules!

One of those games you decide to play once and just keep going. And going. I love it, but take my advice and pay the pittance for hints! Okay, it's a while later and I've uninstalled because the app constantly stops working. However I love this game, and will reinstall once I read that any bugs have been fixed.

When I play this game, I can feel my brain working . It's very stimulating, educational & addicting! I really enjoy this game, I gave it 3 stars cuz eventually you have to pay to play. You get 10 hints that go quick. Once you run out there is no way to earn any back & you have to pay for more. You start with a set of puzzles. If you complete the set, you have to buy more or there's nothing to play except a free daily puzzle.

Great little game if you're a word nut. Simplistic no frills design with good challenges and level options of easy, normal or hard. No annoying music and pretty much no adverts at all too. however at only 25 levels free before you have to pay at £1.99 per 50 extra puzzles it would cost near around £87.59 to purchase all levels. Because its a quick simple game I guee you're best off playing it slowly and choosing whichever extra levels take your fancy.

I like the challenge this game provides, but the app itself needs work. Too often I notice words overlapping if I switch from this app to another and then come back. I'm sure it's just a little bug that needs to be worked out, but it loses one star since I have to restart the app to fix it.

Everything needs to be paid for. The game lacks actual levels, there isn't a way to get hints unless you pay, they need more hint options as well ex: show me wrong entries, show me one category, etc. The game itself is a good concept, just completely lacking design and ingenuity. Also doesn't feel very new or good on design, reminds me of playing a game of my dial up internet in the 90's.

Love this game! There are 3 difficulty levels to choose from, gameplay is smooth, and best of all, it's not constantly showing me ads! I love the challenge of the game, and that there's hints if you get stuck. I definitely recommend this game if you're looking for a more unique word game!

Played this game before it was really fully available like it is now. I've been waiting for it because I just love it! You can pick the difficulty game by game, if you wish. It's not very expensive. You pay a few dollars and get lots of games - but they're yours. It should get you to think in different ways, open your mind, and you might learn a thing or two to boot. So glad to see it here! Thanks a lot! (And I love it's "sister game" also.) 😊

Uninstalling. Downloaded and went through the free puzzles in a very short time and they only offer one new free puzzzle per day AND the game freezes all the time so you have to close it and then reopen it. 2 stars because the concept is good but they need to fix the app and add more puzzles for free because you also are hit with ads.
