Push notifications not working. Now uninstalling & re installing

Push notifications doesnt work even after un-installimg and re-installing the app. Old messages show up at 01/03/1970😢

Message notifications don't come through on Lollipop. Can this be looked at, as messages are not being read as a person isn't aware they've been posted.

I only need to see notifications relative to my children's grade/stages. Majority of notifications are spam. Very annoying.
