reddit offline

Download contents from reddit when you have Internet, and read them when you don't.
Everything in this app was designed with offline in mind. Being able to use this app when there's no Internet is the top priority when making any design decisions. It currently pre-downloads text posts, images (including gifs and imgur albums), and all comments, for offline use. You can also schedule the app to download at specified times.

This app does NOT have ads, and it will NEVER have ads. The limited screen-size on handhold devices are too valuable to display ads.

This is a beta version, with lots of new features coming. Please visit /r/RedditOffline for discussions and feature requests.

Permissions explained:INTERNET: for syncing with reddit.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: to check whether you have Internet connection.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: save the cache files.SET_ALARM: scheduled sync, so you can have it to download reddit every morning.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: so that scheduled sync feature can survive a phone reboot.

This is an excellent app if you have little or no mobile data. Or even if you just want a nice clean minimalist interface. Though I do want to mention to the developer. Since the recent UI update the app insists it does not have wifi available when every other app does. I am using a G6+. I hope this helps! I do love this app and for others reading this. The issue is very easy to work around in the meantime.

the UI is a bit cumbersome at times and a little confusing to maneuver but ultimately the app does what it promises and it very good at it. Often times, imbedded GIFs and videos do not save properly so they can't be viewed. Im not sure if there is a remedy for this, but overall it has not impacted the experience too much.

Flat out the best offline reddit app out there. But would be nice to be able to download and save images/videos from cached posts seperately too. A feature to sign in and be able to vote on the posts and comments (such that the votes would be uploaded when I regain an internet connection) would also be fantastic, but I guess that might be too much for such a simple offline app :) Overall a great, functional, beautifully designed app that does everything it says on the tin and more. Keep it up!

Great app! My only problem is it seems that in a recent update even though I don't have it ticked to skip videos it isn't downloading the videos. Also if that is fixed is there anyway to download the accompaning audio with the videos since that never had it or is that not possible? Just one extra thing and this might not be possible to do but it would be great if I could save a post or mark it in some ways so that it isn't cleared with the cache. Again great app! thanks for making it!

The app is not that bad, but it has HORRIBLE performance. It is incredibly laggy. I really don't understand what is this app doing that it is always getting stuck and it evens makes the whole phone lag. If I'm listening to music, the music will lag too. What is this app doing that uses so much resources?! I really wanted to give this app a good review, but the performance issues are way too serious and happen all the time. Every time I try to go to the next post

It used to work great for me. Now its very slow and sluggish. Everything very unresponsive. Pressing the back button has a 1 to 2 second delay now and no way to verify button was pushed making it a very cumbersome app to use. It worked great a month ago. I dont really use it anymore

The newest update screwed up gifs/videos for me. Almost none of them load after downloading them and switching wi-fi off. Yes, there is the option to convert videos to gifs but the quality is terrible.. this is my only complaint with the app and it's a shame since this is my number one app at work where we have weak signal.

First of all, thanks a lot for making this app. It's really great for people like myself who have no data. My only qualms with it is the fact that when I clear cache, as I have a small amount of storage space, it clears the subreddits themselves from the list along with the content. Is there a way or can you add a way to keep my list of preferred subreddits when I clear my cached content? All in all, it's a really well done app.

New update made this app mediocre. Slow and unresponsive after the November 18 update. Pressing back button, app only responds after a second.. It's a shame that the interface has changed, while functionality seems to remain the same. Still no cross subreddit support for example.

Add subreddits or even just a subject, name, place, ect choose a category and how many post to download, wifi is great but if you have very slow or limited data plan you can control in the settings how many pictures or videos if any to download, as pictures uses more bits of data then just text and video uses more then pictures do. allowing the user to be more efficient with their data. you can save it on SDCard schedule or manually downlaod subreddits. Dev great dev! no ads somebody give a Tip!!

Amazing App. I love this app, and find myself using it a few times everyday. It is easy to use and has no ads whatsoever. This app is good for people with little to no mobile data, so you can download a few hundred posts in the morning and look at them on your commute to school, work, etc. Would recommend.

Great app, and I appreciate that the developer is actively working on it. One thing I would like is to be able to save pictures and gifs into the gallery. Currently one has to use the browser to do that, or a different reddit app.

Lots of issues. Videos of posts next to the post I'm watching start playing, including audio, in the background. Audio frequently doesn't work in the downloaded videos. It's usable, but needs fixing.

Cla. D. Aug 16, 2019

Add a download button and make videos keep audio (they often do not) and this app would be perfect. Cheers I would also like a larger post cap, but understand why its the way it is.

Overall a solid app for time when you won't have data/wifi access. Wish it could pickup where it left off downloading when the connection is interrupted.

It's a really great app! I'd recommend it to people who travel a lot with necessarily no data. It's definitely a good way to stave away boredom! Props to the developer!

Massive decrease in functionality in newest update. Harder to access subreddit list, harder to change what subreddit you are browsing. The sidebar is far worse than the old method and there is no reason to remove the button leading to subreddit list.

This is my favorite Reddit reader. Your favorite subreddits are downloaded automatically saving you time and data. It's worked perfectly and the interface is very intuitive.

Jam. O. Jul 5, 2019

Nice app! 5 stars because it mostly works and is free. Sometimes a connection timeout will make the subreddits screen behave strangely and seems to stop downloading. It should either skip that post or retry.

The UI and controls become more crappy, but also more stable with every update. Still the best app to view reddit content. Prefetched content displays instantly.

Ten. Mar 3, 2019

I don't like that when I exit the app, it brings me back to the subreddit home, instead of staying where I last left off in a thread. I would like to be able to open a different app on my phone and go back to reddit offline and continue reading. Please bring it back as a feature. :(

Great app, I use it almost exclusively instead of the website. Great level of user control regarding download scheduling and mobile data use. The developer is also really engaged and actually seems to genuinely care about making something great for the community free of charge!

The only true offline app for reading Reddit that I have found. The UI is straight forward but the offline functionality works very well. Love this app.

Eva. D. Jun 25, 2019

while this app does provide offline access to reddit, it barely does. i cannot get the auto download to work so i have to manually run it. on top pf that it does not download everything in a post, it only downloads the comments that are visible. on posts with large comment count you get limites heavily and dont get to read comment trees very well

First impression: approaching perfection! Description for Skip Videos has me a bit confused. But I love how light it is, and it's already working extremely damn well for my needs. Keep it up guys! 😁

Love this app - it is a god send during my underground commute. By the time I roll into work i am clued up on the day's memes and current affairs. The only downside is my new phone doesn't auto update but I have a feeling this is cos it's Huawei, not because of the app

Eri. a. C. May 20, 2019

overall very happy with the app, few bugs like videos and pics don't download all the time, but nothing you can't live with.

Bin. R. Mar 5, 2019

best experience for Reddit, even when online. great especially for taking and the subway and don't have internet underground. Also is a huge data saver.

Ava. Mar 19, 2019

Amazing! Only issue is that it times out then "redownloads" the whole thing. Not enough of a problem to knock it to 4 stars, though.
