It is very frustrating that I cannot get to the main page if for example i open Red by tapping a notification about a new message. It will only show inbox with no way to go back to the Red landing page or the sub main page except for closing the app and restarting it from the launcher
The only accessible Reddit client on android if you're visually impaired and use talkback/voice assistant to use your phone. This is a gem thank you so much for the app. I had a suggestion about scrolling through posts with screen readers, i sent it to the developer's email.
New subreddit search is way too slow. I wish it would still show the locally cached results as you type like it did before. I find myself tapping the user search icon then switching to subreddit search from there instead. Other than that, still my favorite reddit app
Fast and lean but navigation is a little clumsy, things like comment upvotes don't seem to work (all I see is ?? pts in every comment's header), and some of the setting's descriptions are kind of cryptic.
Way better than Reddit. You can view more posts per scroll, see less ads, read posts offline, and ignore annoying rewarded comments. Unfortunately, the nature of the app to download posts in the background results in the app rapidly becoming 1GB in size within a week. Although, the app does have an option to clear cache, which helps, but you can't choose what posts you want to keep and what posts you want to delete. But overall, this is one of the best apps to browse Reddit on.
Just started with this app but it seems to have very good customization. I'm going to be giving it a good workout but so far it's in the running fot the first or second best reddit app for me.
Great app. But I wish I could choose if GIFs and videos played while scrolling, rather than having to click the image.
A very good, performant and feature-full Reddit client. Does exactly what I need from the official client. Edit: "Share Comments" now works as expected. Thank you.
Can you add a way to view quarantined subreddit? Currently it return 403. My makeshift method is to open it in browser, login, continue to quarantined sub then get back to app. It irritating since many subs seems to get quarantined nowadays.
Just switched from 10 years of Reddit is Fun Platinum due to being open source. Impressive customization options and no history is a plus
Lean and clean UI. Runs lightning fast even on modest hardware. Easy to navigate simple minimalist UI. Everything you need and nothing you don't. If you're looking for fluff and decorations, look elsewhere. If you want a free, fast and efficient app that stays out of your way, you will love it.
Great app but needs more search functionality. There's no way to search within a subreddit that you're viewing and the main search requires you to manually type in the full sub's name. Seems like a major oversight. Also it would be good to have a forward navigation button in the main menu. If you accidentally navigate there you can't go back to where you were.
This is my favorite reddit app by far. The customization options are insane. My one request is to have a full-screen mode where the top bar only shows up if you swipe back to the top and swipe down (similar to a page refresh). I'm scared that it will burn-in onto my phone's oled display because it's static while scrolling through a sub. An additional feature would be a toggle for time in the video player (i.e. you're able to see how long a video is and how much has played).
Love it for my minimalist, data saving usage. Only gripe is that it force loads (in background, not visible but you feel it) media you,ve aborted loading.
Nice app, faster than the official one. The UI does have a few 'mad scientist' design elements, but it's not so unintuitive as to be unusable. Reddit recently began paginating results for profile posts/comments. It seems there was a change to Reddit's API, because RedReader can't load anything past what would make the first page of results on the official website.
This is fantastic it's open source, brilliant it's great to start seeing FOSS software come along to the store right when people are shutting people down just for stating facts. I will recommend this.
Awesome app but I cannot find how to open links from Google directly in the app. It does not appear in the list of proposed apps..
Just installed and love the app so far, but I noticed that when you back out of one of the settings categories (appearance, font, behavior) it takes you back out of the settings menu entirely. When first setting my preferences I had to reopen the settings menu every time I went to a new category. Is this something you could fix in the next patch?
The new 'Find Subreddit' feature runied the app. I want to type in a sub, not have your terrible search try to find it. Why meddle with things that work? Why?
Not a bad reddit app. Fluid. Navigation, like most reddit apps, is a little chunky at best, but nothing to complain about. Images and videos are slow to load, album nav is... Weird. Too much gesture needed. Recent change made images full size when browsing front page. It's really annoying when a dev applies an update that make a change without consent.
Seemed promising looking at the reviews, but it doesn't let me log in as of yet, although I've been informed tht this is a reddit side bug. Have to say other than this the app does seem to work very well, had no issues browsing anonymously in the meantime, on a device that croaks when running the official app, so I would recommend it for anyone with a lower end device that can't get a smooth reddit experience otherwise. Hopefully the login bugs are ironed out. If so I see this being great.
Best Reader ever! Can only recommend this masterpiece. It ist lightning fast and really customizable! Love the left hand mode, so few devs think about that. As a leftie with a big Phone and little fingers this ist life saving! Only Feature requests would be a dedicated button to reply. Longpress to reply in a Thread or pressing the Options menue in the top right ist cumbersome and mit really intuitive.
Amazing free FOSS reddit app. Simple and has the required feature. Swipe to vote works smoothly.
fast. better than official app by far. after a short, sharp smack to the head by the developer, I spent some more time going through ALL the settings and found the features I was looking for. still a bit cramped, and I still want bigger images, but happy enough to give it 4 stars. 😄
Real nice app! It would be great to have feature to continue from where we left off. For example, if i have scrolled down a lot in a thread and then click the back button close the thread, when I go back to the thread it should auto scroll down to where I left off. Same with scrolling in a subreddit.
GREAT APP! Exceptional at saving data while browsing Reddit. Great effort dev. I only have one suggestion, adding a small icon to indicate that the post is an external link. Because I keep clicking on posts that are links for external websites or apps when I only want to navigate in this app.
I love this app! The only thing I'm missing from other apps is the ability to change the post views, such as full cards, fixed height cards, etc. By default, the images are a little small when you've been used to other apps that let you change that to your liking. Otherwise, it's an awesome app!
Before the latest update I was able to quickly, with auto complete, go directly to the subreddit I would type in after hitting 'enter'. Now that's been replaced with a search function I now have to fully type out the subreddit name, then hit 'search' then wait for the results to show. It also won't find the subreddit unless it is exactly the same. For example if I search for "world news" it doesn't display /r/WorldNews as a result. I have to manually delete the whitespace then search again.
