Reiner Knizia Tigris&Euphrates

Tigris & Euphrates is set in the ancient fertile crescent with players building civilizations through tile placement.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

In fertile Mesopotamia between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, lies the cradle of civilization.

Your goal is to develop all 4 of the key spheres of civilization: Settlements, Temples, Farms, and Markets. To do this, you will position your leaders, create and extend kingdoms, build monuments, and resolve conflicts. Tension arises when kingdoms connect and leaders clash on the board, with only one leader of each type surviving. You will thus aquire victory points in each of the four spheres. The winner is the player who develops their civilization in the most balanced way, without revealing a sphere of weakness.

With no setup time required, no pieces to lose, and no arguments about the rules, the future of board games is here and Tigris & Euphrates gives you exactly what you want -
- to play!

How to play:

During their turn, the active player may carry out up to two of the following actions, in any order:

- Position (place, move or remove) a leader.
- Place a tile and earn a victory point.
- Place a catastrophe tile.
- Swap up to 6 tiles

The active player may choose two different actions, or the same action twice.

Sometimes crashes, but when it does can resume the game where you left off. Sometimes it does strange things, like not resolving all conflict, so left with say two kings in one kingdom, both getting points for a new black tile. At the end of the game you cannot review the board position easily, because it is covered by the final score overlay. When you close that, it goes to menu screen, and cannot get back to the board. But apart from these niggles it is fun to play.

A decent implementation of the original boardgame. Loses a star for not having a LAN or online multiplayer option although the local multiplayer is nice. The assets look a little messy, but if you can see past that it's a good game to kill time.

A game which really needs a bigger screen than my phone has, but still a good introduction to a brilliant strategy game. The AI is good enough to challenge for a while, until you're hooked into buying the cardboard version!

A classic and definitive board game from a legendarily prolific designer with a functional if somewhat barebones implementation. The combination of long term strategy with short term tactical considerations is deceptively deep for the relative simplicity of a tile laying game. I love the physical version of this game, and this mobile implementation provides the same brain burning puzzle on a lunch break at work.

lightweight literal translation of the game, no frills asked for, no frills given. If you want a solid app of a rock solid euro, this is a study in how to do it right (unless you crave online play, but that's a frill, and this doesn't have any.)

The app always crashes when you build a monument. The last time the app was updated was in 2013, so I have no hopes to be able to properly play it in the future.

Very good app which solidly recreates a truly great board game. My only complaint: THIS DESPERATELY NEEDS ONLINE MULTIPLAYER!!! And it is really that missing feature that keeps it from being a full 5 star.

A lot easier than trying to figure the actual game. It just has a lot of little bugs that sometimes break things. Unfortunately they are the type that are hard to report.

Good app of the boardgame, but isn't compatible with my chromebook with android functionality, which is a shame.

This game is an absolute classic. The lack of online multiplayer is the only reason I can't give the app 5 stars.

Excellent implementation of one of Dr. Knizia's best boardgames. Decent AI, public leader values actually aids usability over the wood and cardboard edition

Intense and difficult decisions throughout! Game starts and ends strong.

No multiplayer, funny interface, no multiplayer, small icons.

Top notch implementation of a great game

Overall it's a good game, a great way to play this in your spare time. But it has drawbacks: It loses one star for non-handling of backspace and menu bottons, and another star for having no multiplayer. Plus it would be nice if it supported the alternate map in the latest edition of the game. But still, if you like T&E, then this is a must buy.

This board game is a classic, and I've had many hours of pleasure with friends enjoying the physical version. This brings that experience to your pocket, and although the app doesn't have all of the social aspects of sitting around a table, it does replicate the intricate strategy and refined game play of Reiner's masterpiece. Highly recommended.

One star taken off for the direct port, but that's totally understandable given the nature of the app. It's well done, the AI does a pretty good job, and it runs great on the variety of devices I have tried it on. Hope more boardgames come to the android side of things like this. Very well done.

The implementation is pretty good: I've only had one stability issue. No online multiplayer yet, but that's not a crucial feature. The game itself is engaging, the interface doesn't get in my way, and the tutorial was pretty helpful, although it requires a play or two before the strategy really sinks in.

Saw this app whilst browsing and bought it on impulse having played the board game Carcassonne for many years. And it's a fab little app. Once you master the basics, games are quick but always a challenge. And it is infinitely replayable. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that the high scores function is broken. It works ok in a session, but exit the game and scores are zeroised when next playing. And not sure what the arrows at the top of the score screen do. But for pure gameplay it's 5 stars all the way.

Of course this remains one of the most awesome board game mechanisms. But the UI is often confusing. The AI is very simple, not providing much surprises (I. E. In conflicts). The game is lost if you close the application. Would be nice to restore it. There is no multi-player which could be cool.

Highly disappointing iPhone aspect ratio. Cheap port. Unnecessary use of invasive permissions. If the game updates to support proper screen sizes for Android then it might be worth checking out. Hopefully it'll update to add online multiplayer with the new Games service too.
