Latest update started making the app automatically redirect to random apps on the Play Store without any input from the user. I like this app, so I ended up spending a few bucks to permanently get rid of ads but didn't know there was a separate premium app (what is the in-app purchase tied to anyway?). Anyway, this shouldn't have been necessary.

Dev team responded to an earlier review complaining of poor interactivity with comment threads - I suppose that's a positive for this app. The overarching issue that I see remains. Controls just aren't very intuitive. The devs clearly put a lot of effort into this app, and it is worth checking out, but be prepared for a long learning curve. There are so many options for customizing your layout and how the app presents variant media types, that basic interactivity with the content suffers.

Videos take FOREVER to load. Sometimes even images take 10+ seconds, appearing bit by bit like a dial up connection. I have good internet and I know reddit servers aren't THIS bad. It has gotten to the point where I need to look for a new reddit app. Relay just isn't usable anymore.

A really great alternative to the official app, though my only issue with it currently is that it offers the ability to download videos as GIFs, but when choosing to do so, it only downloads a jpg picture of one frame, really hope this issue can be resolved

The animations are smooth and my overall experience is quite good. Love the interface. Expecting to see more improvements on post distribution.

The last update requires to update consent for data use, and if you want to disable cookies sent to vendors (some of them with 1-2 years long duration) you have to do it manually for every single vendor, and there's hundreds of them. There's a button to accept all, but not for denying all. Shame, was a decent app until now.

Way better than the official app, but there are some major bugs: 1. The subreddit sort function omits results, or sometimes doesn't show anything at all. For example, you can find a post in your browser, go to the subreddit it belongs to in Relay, and it is nowhere to be found. 2. The app frequently crashes my phone when you hit the back button on embedded videos.

After approximately a month I like how the app works. it's similar to RIF, but looks much better and seems to work better. The only complaint I really have is that I haven't been able to get rid of all the NSFW filtering.

A very well thought out Reddit client for Android. 4/5 stars. The only complaint I have is that sometimes images don't load, but it's a known problem and the developer is working on it. Update: image loading problem is fixed! 5/5!

I've been using this app for years now and I absolutely love it. 99% of the time it's perfect. However, I've been recently experiencing an issue where closing the video player with the back button often crashes my entire phone and causes a reboot.

I've used Relay for a long time across multiple devices. The latest updates have broken Relay for Pixel 2 phones. If I watch a Youtube video in the app, and swipe it away/push the back button to close, it power cycles the phone with extreme lag, sometimes indefinitely. It's a serious bug that needs to be fixed ASAP. Since this problem began, I waited for another update to the app, but the problem persists.

App has slowly deteriorated over time. Now the bugs outweigh the benefits. It's unable to load approx half the images and videos posted. Extreme lag loading discussion threads, notifications not working all the time etc..

It's been months since the introduction of a new bug that causes the phone to reboot every time I click a video in-app. I have to stop using the app now, my phone violently reboots 10 times a day. I simply do not believe they can't fix it, as an engineer myself. If you are looking for a good android Reddit client, keep looking.

Shoddy, buggy, broken app. Has been this way for years, developer has shown no indication of intending to fix these many years-long issues that have plagued this app.

It literally just stopped working one day. Now nothing will load. Looked this up and it appears that my experience is far from uncommon

Impossible to watch a video for longer than 60 second without it giving you a playback source error, but other than that a pretty good Reddit app

Works well, and I prefer it over the mobile app. The only issue I have is with multireddits, and there being some weird stuff with how they're implemented in this app.

Been using this for reddit exclusively for a few years now. Never had an issue with it and using the official apps now just doesn't cut it! Highly recommend this app to anyone looking for an alternative to Reddit's own woeful app.

Ste. Mar 26, 2022

This message is for devs! Starting today, 25 Mar 2022 the app has been crashing every few minutes and I don't know why- thanks, otherwise the app is awesome! ... But please hotfix this lol

I've been using this for a while, I just realised the post colours are not just decorative hah, but I'm a kinda recent reddit user too. Good job guys, keep it like that. Best reddit client, no competition.

Tob. R. May 21, 2022

took some time to get used to it, but now I definitely prefer this over the original reddit app. One small complaint I have is that when muting a video, the next video that is opened is played with sound again. In my opinion it would be helpful to remember that choice until the user manually turns sound on again. This would make using the app while listening to something else a lot more convenient.

It takes more button presses to do pretty much anything. Upvoting requires a swipe just to show the button. Videos can't be paused or fast forwarded without opening the video, long pressing to bring up buttons, then press one of the buttons just to bring up the progress bar that you can drag around. Opening comments requires pressing a button to open a drop down where you can then choose comments. Overall just tedious. No idea why people reccommend this app.

EDIT: developer reply and lack of audio ads since makes it clear this was truly a mistake. I've changed my rating to 5 stars, because this really is a great app outside of the few times it blasted me with ads for audiobooks theyve recently added auto-playing audio ads that you can't pause or mute.... immediately looking into a new app

Qai. M. Jan 7, 2022

Been using this for a while now, and it works great. Only gripe is that whenever you try to save a gif as a video, the video bugs out in the gallery and corrupts.

Cop. R. Jan 18, 2022

The Official app is an infestation of bugs and ads, leading me to try out unofficial apps like this one. All but an odd one are feature-wise better than the official app. So for me, it was down to those with the most tolerable ads, they are Relay and RIF. Relay's ads occupy a small section at the bottom of the screen, with time, one can learn to ignore that area. Except for Dark Mode users, because some of these bright white ads can invoke enough photons to put a flashbang to shame.

Videos get replaced with a buffering symbol but the video still uses data and the video timer still plays.
