Downgrading my review because the developer is not addressing a bug that has been present in the app for months. No response to emails. When you submit a post and the subreddit requires flair for that post you will get an error message. If you add flair and hit submit again the app gets stuck. If you close the app and go back in your post is gone. I have contacted the developer about this several times and got no response. It's extremely frustrating to lose content.
Great app in terms of function and user experience. However, only nitpick I have is that I paid for this app only because the "Remove ads" paid feature recently stopped working on free Relay, even though I paid for it a long time ago. It costs the same amount of money as Relay Pro, so I feel it would be better to offer either Relay or Relay Pro instead of the in-between "Remove ads" option which has this chance of not working.
Great app. Feedback: would be great to be able to turn off animation for images etc opening and closing. Just takes up time. I don't ever want to hide posts, so the big floating button that hides all read posts I don't really want. In addition I think posts could be more dense and have less spacing. Overall very very good though. Would give 5 stars if it wasn't for animation.
Really hate to have to downgrade my review. This was the best Reddit app out there but the Devs haven't updated/added some basic Reddit features like chat and the ability to upload videos. I had to download that ghastly official Reddit app to be able to do these two things. I really want to continue using Relay because I love the app but if they don't update some basic Reddit features I might have to uninstall 😔
Definitely my favorite reddit app. It's so nice to use, and does everything I want to quickly. The design also looks pleasing to me, I never really liked the official apps design
Every so often I wonder what else is out there and find I find myself running back to relay. This is one of the best purchases I've ever made Edit: still true over 4 years later
Constantly takes ages to watch even the smallest videos. Uploading an image to a post or comment is broken, it just gets trapped in a loop "uploading".
Great alternative to the official app. It's fast, looks great and can be customized in so many ways. Stop questioning if you should get it and do it already.
The closest I could find to an App like Apollo on iPhone. Really great layout and interface that is easy to navigate
Nowadays every update seems to be solving on thing and ruining another. I can't post any question or anything when I want to post something on a subreddit. It's stuck at loading and it's really annoying. I also saw someone complain about it on your subreddit but you didn't answer. Kindly fix it
Slooooooooooooow. Boost, official reddit app, RIF and even Firefox and chrome load reddit 10x faster and better than Relay. Good thing I only wasted a few bucks on the pro version.
This app has fundamentally changed the way I use Reddit. Cleanest Reddit UI on Android and has a lot of unique features that personally speed up browsing and writing posts/replies. Customization is there, but feel there could be some more , there is enough to get the job done however. All in all great app,y favorite Reddit replacement on android
Good but lately images have been taking forever to load, or sometimes they don't load at all. They're only 1-4mb, but takes over 10 seconds to load the images or just hangs halfway through. It's not my internet because images load instantly on desktop.
Using it for years now and it's always been solid. UI is not always the most intuitive, but not so confusing that it detracts from overall experience. Skip official reddit app, get Relay!
Great app, except it doesn't properly filter "new" comments. I click "new" and it still shows top.
Overall OK, some strange UI choices but you figure it out. Devs need to fix blocking accounts as that's currently not working and they don't seem to respond about it on reddit. Example blocking bots doesn't work. Moving to Infinity.
Best Reddit app, ever. I've used this app for over 5 years and it never disappoints, never had any issues whatsoever.
The app is pretty good and all. But really I want an option to change my flair in subs and to search or divide results by flair. I'm rating it 4 stars but really this is a bad enough fault that I'm looking at other options
App works well, but constant pop-ups begging for rating is irritating and unacceptable, especially in a paid app.
I found a problem. You can't follow a user as I only see "add friend". Am I not knowing where the follow button is? I shouldn't research on how to just follow someone. I love the UI look though but it just rubs me the wrong way. Pretty good app to avoid reddit keep trying to push bad recommendations.
I really like Relay, it is my go to app for Reddit, and has been for a while. Love the features, love how it makes easy to watch videos and read threads. However it has been crashing a huge lot lately. It just shuts down when I'm in the middle of reading something, and when it opens back I have to scroll down and find whatever I was reading. Very frustrating.
I've used Relay pro for over 5 years now and I'm finally giving up! It's a shame because imo it is truly the best designed app for Reddit, I just can't take the random crashes anymore. Without warning, weather it be reading a post, viewing an image or watching a gif the app will shut down with no warning seemingly at random and quite commonly. It's as if I've pressed the home button but when I tap the app again it has to reload and starts of at the top of the feed. This makes the app an extremely frustrating experience to use and it's not worth the money, I've tried the clear cache trick but that did nothing. If I could get a refund I would.
I could speak for hours about the good features but will instead add what I want to see in future updates and I will add a few things that the app lacks. Firstly, I want to be able to customize the color scheme by myself. It seems like a rudimentary thing to add (and it is). Secondly, I'd like a gallery option in which I can swipe right to see other pictures as opposed to individually hitting the picture to go back. This can be found in the official Reddit app and it's what Id like to see soon.
Amazing app, been using the free version for a long time, and finally switched to the pro. However there's a bug that really bothers me, the app kinda times out after 20-30min and suddenly closes without a single message, and when you open it again you go back to the frontpage, no matter if you were writting a post, or leaving a comment. Besides that, the app is amazing.
Works fantastic 90% of the time. But sometimes it will bog way down when it comes to fetching images or whatever. And it will stay like that for a day or two and slowly start functioning again. I've got unlimited data and my firefox browser pulls the same content instantly so it's down to the app. Really annoying when it does that and I am going to a browser instead when it fails.
Basically my favorite reddit app. Very comfortable to use and worth the purchase in my opinion. Only thing I have a problem with (and it's a big one) is that lately the loading of photos and videos in-app had been absolutely terrible even on 4g full bars. So server side needs work but it's fixable. Other than that, highly recommend. Edit : the photo /video loading got really terrible. It's honestly frustrating. Edit 2 : even after an update, the video loading isn't great. Edit 3: video load..
This has been the only reddit app I have used for years, but for the last week or two I have frequently been getting Failure To Load Content on the frontpage. But all other options work just fine. Even searching for individual subreddits works, so does the "Popular" option. If this isn't fixed soon I will be moving to a different client.
