Resilio Sync

Sync lets you transfer files directly from device to device. Share photos, videos, docs without storage limits: our technology works especially well with huge files.
Create your own private cloud. Connect devices and sync files securely between your Mac, PC, NAS, and even server. Use Sync on your mobile to access the files you keep on your home computer or work laptop.Sync encrypts all files during transfer and never stores any of your information on third-party servers. This means your data is protected against identity theft or attacks.

No storage limits
• Sync as much data as you have on your hard drive or SD card.
• Add large files of any size to your synced folders and transfer them up to 16x faster than the cloud.

Automatic camera backup
• Sync will back up photos and videos as soon as you take them.
• You can then delete photos from your phone and save space.
• Set up backup of any info from your phone to a folder on your computer.

Any device and platform
• Access folders and upload files to your tablet, PC, Mac, NAS, and even server from anywhere.

Direct transfers, no cloud
• Your information is never stored on servers in the cloud, so nobody can access it without your permission.
• Transfer files directly and fast using BitTorrent peer-to-peer technology (p2p).
• Connect two devices by taking picture of a QR code, even if you are in local network without internet connection.

Save space
• Selective Sync lets you save only the files you need.
• Clear synced files to free up space on your device.

Supports all file types
• Sync photos, videos, music, PDFs, docs and books library to your Android phone or tablet.

To get the best performance and to avoid running up your data charges while syncing folders, we recommend leaving the "Use Cellular Data" setting off.

Note: Resilio Sync is a personal file syncing manager. It is not compatible with torrent file sharing applications.

I absolutely crave this app anytime I need to download or upload large files to any of my computers and NAS's connected. I don't think anything comes close to the level of incredible service this app provides. There is a bit of a learning curve. It is absolutely achievable. Just TAKE time and absorb. *I would like to suggest* a button to Reannounce myself, or to automate that, upon network change. I would love the ability to refresh my connection upon change or loss/reconnect of network

Amazing app. Backup my phone on my other device which backup to the cloud The two phones are next to each other on the same network it'd be nice to try to be able to make it back up faster as I'm copying 10 gigabytes.

This is how I lost ALL photos from my most recent trip thanks to Resilio Sync (this app): There's an option to free up space on your device if your files are already backed up. The surprise is that it doesn't actually check if the files are already backed up, it just deletes them all at once, causing a permanent loss of data. Please remove this app from the store ASAP to prevent more people from suffering suddent irreparable loss of data.

Resilio Sync will ramdomly delete your files permanently. For years there has been a bug: sometimes the app will erase the contents of random files, leaving an empty file behind with a size of "Zero Bytes". The file contents are gone forever: even the backup version in the archive is erased. This has been a known issue for years. It has been fixed a few times but then the issue comes back again. Obviously I can't use a sync app that randomly erases my data. I hope they fix it.

Been using this for years, only because there's no functioning alternative. This one is barely functioning. It always works well on the first sync to each device, which is a glorified copy-paste operation. After that, within a few days, various apps will just stop syncing. It even says "Out of Sync". But there's no button to tell it to get back in sync. Everything is connected and discovers each other as peers. If I use the "folder navigator" within this app, I can see everything, but can't download/open them. They're not here locally on my devices using other file explorers. So it just becomes an "out of sync" notifier. OK THANKS.

I have a paid license for this, and I still can't recommend it. It often fails to perform the task it's designed and named after: syncing. The app has been abandoned on Android as well as desktop/server, there haven't been any updates in a year and a half despite bugs that, again, prevent it from actually keeping files in sync. If your device can run it, use Syncthing instead. It's free, and actually SYNCS things/keeps folders in sync. Resilio is more suited to one-time, one-way file transfers.

It's good at syncing files most of the time, but sometimes it gets confused and has to be restarted. More seriously, the newest version of a file is considered to be the only important version of the file. So when concurrent edits are made on different devices, the newest one wins and the others are lost. You have to be really careful in these situations or you lose data. A better conflict resolution scheme would be nice. Show conflicted versions, for example.

Reliable synchronisation tool. Easy to use if you stick to basic set up and folders. Using and understanding more complicated arrangements is less intuitive and requires experimentation prior to running on live data. The documentation could be more helpful in this regard. However, in years of use I've never experienced a loss of data as reported by some other reviewers. I am currently syncing 3TB over 5 devices, some of which are encrypted on a remote network. As far as I can tell, all is well!

Sometimes at first there was confusion when creating shares etc. But worth it. Love it. Have been using it for several years. Especially since Dropbox changed their free plan to only include three devices. App seems to be working well on desktop, laptop, Android phones, and Chromebook. However, it would let me create a share on the SD card in my Chromebook, but then never actually worked. In that case, it looks like the share must be on the Chromebook local Drive.

Exactly what I needed. I've been looking for something like this for so long. It was so annoying that when I added a song on one device I then had to manually copy it to each other device. This does it automatically. Super fast to. My only complaint is it does used a lot of battery on my phone, bit I just turn it off there until I have something new to sync.

This is a GREAT app, but I have a problem... I have my DCIM folder synced with my PC for pictures. The pics sync almost as soon as I take them. I love it. But if I delete a picture from the camera gallery or quick pic, it doesn't get deleted on the pc. In fact, if I navigate to the file from within sync, I get what looks like a file placeholder (no thumbnail). If I tap on it, it gets transferred from my pc and appears again on my phone. How can I fix this??

Dj. D. Oct 17, 2018

Edit: slowly getting worse. It only finds a few of my folders when I use the share option on android. Syncs with other devices when it feels like it. I've synced files, deleted them off my phone only to realize they didn't transfer and now my files are gone It gets the job done. Sometimes have to force stop the app and restart to get it to sync. If i try to download a few files at once, the first ones I click will stop before they're finished. I wish it had thumbnails for pictures. Very easy to deploy. When it works it's very fast. I have 1gb up/down fibre connection to the house and 4tb of space running on an old Pentium D pc as a host and it's plenty fast. I've paid for the pro version but am considering switching to nextcloud

Sync used to be great as a desktop application and as the smartphone app, but it's basically unusable now. It goes "idle" on both my (different make and model) Android handsets and never wakes up. To force it to wake I have to exit the app, and it just says "Shutdown" forever. So I have to reboot the whole phone just to synchronize data. I often find myself away from my PC, expecting to be able to access data I put in a Sync'd folder hours or days ago, but finding that the files aren't there because I forgot to manually wake the app so it would Sync. This isn't how it's supposed to work. Please fix this app, so that it is once again as reliable and valuable as it once was.

Resilio Sync is a great app I have been using since it came out originally as BitTorrent Sync. Ever since the last update was released (2.6.3), the app has crashed nearly evey minute and has become unuseable. (Even after freshly installing) The good news is, by reverting to 2.6.2 and disabling automatic updates, the app runs perfectly fine and is compatible with the other clients. However, for an app I paid for, I would have expected an update to fix this by now...

The idea of this sync program is good. But after using it for a long time it becomes apparent: it is too buggy! Main issues: 1. extreme battery usage (not always or on all devices, maybe hung files, maybe the amount of files to scan? Unclear but definitely there). 2. it gets stuck on files (maybe in conflicts or when it wrongly thinks a conflict) with no way to resolve but manual deletion. 3. it is not easily to find problematic files, never mind resolving. Please do some serious design work.

Love it, have way more control over my data than with Google Drive, and it's not stored in anyone else's servers. Seems quicker to sync than Google, too. Literally the only thing I don't like about it is I bought the family edition and they still interrupt me to rate it. No, either it's free and I'll give you some word of mouth advertising, or I pay for it, and that is what you get out of me. Otherwise it would warrant five stars.

It keeps writing numeric ghost folders to my SD card. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling it didn't help. So now I just shut it down after I know that I'm synced and open it up again if I need to sync again. Basically if I just run the app about once a week for about a half hour I'm good. I'm concerned that the app hasn't been updated since last Aug. I give it 4 stars because it syncs my phone with my PC and vice-versa without having to use a cloud and I'm not aware of any other app to do that.

Surprising there aren't more sync apps that allow just that: simple transfer between pc and phone wirelessly. Resilio Sync has a bunch of handy features for more advanced syncing and storage that I honestly don't care for. I just want to be able to transfer files between my phone and PC quickly and without hassle, and Resilio's free app thankfully lets me do that. There are other apps that let you sync wirelessly but everytime it feels so needlessly convoluted... Not with Sync. "It just works."

Great app! It is fully functional. Love the UI. If you connect phone wifi-hotspot to your pc, syncing DOES NOT CONSUME INTERNET DATA! This feature is there by default. This might have been obvious to TECH-SAVVY people & i'm pretty sure there is a way to sync without internet whenever devices are connected via the same network somehow, BUT I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW! The only minor issue is that it doesn't often autostart, you have to click the app icon to get it syncing-they Last Updated it in 2018!

Used it as a simple way to move files from Essential Ph-1 Android phone to my Windows 10 (64) desktop. Installed home version on desktop & designated a "shared" folder. Installed the free version on phone. Used different user names on devices. Connected phone by photo of QR code to see the other device's shared folder. It was that simple! Then Sync became useless. Rescanning the QR seemed to work but after that nothing worked. Not even the supplied bread crumbs prompts. Sync would simply not sync or move anything - all for a paltry $50!

I love the idea behind Resilio and peer to peer syncing so I really wanted to like this Android app. Unfortunately it has issues. It has a persistent notification (so that it can run constantly in the background) and it has eaten up my battery on several occasions. I mainly just want a reliable way to back up the photos on my phone to my NAS. Unfortunately I don't think Resilio will work for my needs.

I have paid for the full version on desktop, so you can assume that I am happy with the product, but on my OnePlus 5, the app just goes to idle never to awake (the icon in the tray is there, and the app comes up, so android does not kill it it seems). Symptoms in this state: when I try to list the peers it just hangs, if I try to list the content where I can set selective sync it hangs, when I click on Exit, it is "Shutting down" forever so I have to force close it from Android settings.

I paid 100 dollars for this app to work with me and my family. The customer support was contacted TWICE and I have no reply at all for the past 3 months that I have waited for a single reply. I have tried troubleshoot and it works temporarily then it stops working. I have been trying to troubleshoot it myself for the past 3 months, I just want to download my music, but it is horrible and uploading works perfectly. Don't get this ever.

Used to be a very promising tool, so I even got a pro license. Unfortunately it seems it's now abandonware, haven't been updated in 2 years, and in fact it's showing: synchronization works really unreliably, sometimes the app gets stuck on "idle" and won't start syncing until the app is fully stopped and restarted. Also UX had never been great and would really use improvements.

The setup was so ridiculously complicated I lost interest. No tips or explanations during setup. Partitioning drives, setting up RAIDS, and installing Win10 was easier. The help tutorials are too fast and garbled, they're like click, click, click, click (and on and on) and look how easy and amazing this app is. I deleted everything and continued looking. They should spend a little more effort writing scripts to simplify the setup process.

The app works but leaves much to be desired. If I want to actively sync my folders, I have to open the app. I cannot find a way to make it run in the background, but maybe there's a way. I'd also prefer to be able to set it to run a check every hour or on a set interval to maximize convenience and minimize battery usage. There's also a frequent bug where I'll have the app open and it'll detect no peers, even when they're online. I have to restart my phone to fix it and it's frustrating.

This great concept when it works. Many times I have my devices sitting on the same network right next to each other and they either dont recognize the other device or take longer than expected to begin the sync process after file changes. About the only program I know of which supports Windows, iOS, and Android. I would love to see some ftp support to sync files back to my home router through my vpn.

Not updating this app for a year. Used to be the best way to sync!! Now it gets intermittently stuck and it stops syncing. EDIT: it's officially TWO YEARS since they updated this app. Obviously it's a miracle it still works with last Android OS. And in fact, it doesn't fully work. Sx months ago I wrote to their customer service asking if they plan to updated it. And they said they would update it soon. Lies.
