Great remake of the original but controlling movement with a finger on the screen does not replicate well the gameplay of the original. It would be much better if it used the tilt to move the cursor (and touch to fire). The hand would not be blocking the screen and would feel more like controlling a ship in flight. Also, I remember the levels lasting longer in the original game. In this game they end just as I am getting into it.
Close to absolute perfection for me. But the controls get in the way. Rather than a virtual joypad you just touch where you want to shout. This means you literally see nothing of the action. Just your finger and your points going up. With a virtual joystick this would be the best game on my phone! (the controls menu doesnt work at all. Just sticks on loading but maybe if that works then you can adjust it?) great job otherwise.
This is an interesting idea because I used to love this game as a kid, playing it at the arcade. The control system is what I have a problem with here. If my finger has to be right on the firing crosshair then I can't see what I'm shooting and I'm missing most of the action. As other people have suggested, I would go with a tilting flight control and a finger/thumb control in the corner of the screen for firing. Unless and until this is updated I think I'll uninstall it.
Decent. Looks exactly like the original, I understand the sound limitations (licensing). Would be nice if the screen rotation worked in both directions as opposed to forcing it to turn only one way.
I love it alot but it does not make sense. When i got in the game it started to play battle ship music from warship. Lastly after i look at the video i thought it will play that music in the youtube video i got really happy but when i heard the warship's battle theme i got disappointed please put the retro star wars arcade music that will get people to like and enjoy the game and put boss fights that will make it challenging for players.
Very nice controls, really cool retro graphics and progressively more difficult levels to make it not boring. Only complaint would be the ties are hard to hit when they are so fast and small but that kinda makes it more fun.
Great fun, just like the original STAR WARS coin op! my only issue is the curser is right under my fat finger so its nearly impossible to see what your shooting...maybe you could put the cursed above and to the left of the finger contact ? other than that, pure awesome !
A remake of a classic 80's arcade game. To me...this game is easier to play if you have a stylus. I have a Galaxy Note 10-Plus...and that comes with a stylus. Great game.
would be nice to option use gyro of cell phone orientation to steer xwing fighter like flight simulators use but getting accustomed to touch move and shoot . My best score at the arcade back ago was over 16 million and after 99 waves it stopped counting waves . I was number one until they wiped the scores off . The next hight score was 12 million and something . This phone version is challanging and i am rusty . Right now i cant get passed Wave 5 . Good for alertness and reflexes .. diff muscles
I would give 4 Stars but i feel like the way you move back and forth by firing is a bad mechanism. Can yall find a way to use tilting your phone as a way to move the fighter? or maybe add a ghost joystick? like whats in the gameboy emulated games
I have fond memories of the game from 1983 or 84. The graphics were very similar but the audio apparently can't come close due to copywrite laws.
Hard to play on my phone. Looks great. Has the same feel as the original arcade game. Just a bit clunky on my device.
A very good retro game, but have to buy all upgrades... an in game upgrade option would be awesome.
Really nice game, good recreation of the original I'd enjoy another control mode so that the "use the force" (not shooting during the trench section) bonus was actually possible
What a brilliant take back to 80's bridlington sitting in a a star wars arcade machine with a pound worth of 10p's!! Great game cant get joystick to worth other than that ace!
GREAT, it's definitely the original game just renamed, very easy controls too! all of the bad reviews are trolls
Yep, that's the vector graphic Star Wars game I remember from the 80s. I fed it a lot of money back then 😂
I used to put 2 quarters into this machine to play 1 time and that was alot for a 12 year old in 1984 i love it its like free money and old memories
The grafics are like the original, loved it. Couldn't stop playing for hour's.
Great, nostalgia filled game, love the arcade look and feel. Absolute perfection
Pore controlling no fire button cool retro could be great like last starfighter movie game
Crashes on the screen that asks permission to access storage. Samsung s9.
When I was a star wars fan I decided to find retro games. And I found this and I was like is the true or it is in play store? I love it because it is like atari!
Obviously the music had to be changed....but beautiful!!!! Thx
the game is fun to play and veary challenging its hours of fun it like star wars a new hope its great for all star wars fans
used to play this at the arcade shame it hasn't got the joystick but thanks for the memory
What others said about gyro control is true - couldnt we just have an offset touch slider so my finger isnt covering the only place I need to see?
Its great for all Vector graphics fans.....a classic from the past
Not bad. Close to the original, but not quite there. Fun. Would be nice to earn coins for upgrades along the way, instead of being forced to buy them with real money. But all in all, upgrades are not needed and it is a fun experience. Edit: Actually I do have one gripe for the game. The controls. I am lucky to have a phone pen, but others are not. Using your finger blocks most of the action and is simply not enjoyable. I might even prefer a thumbstick(s) setting and possible tilt steering.
