Super user friendly. Easy to map controls, built in save states, easy to select your core and upload a rom, good built in controller. It may be hard to navigate the huge menu at first if you don't have a video to walk you through the setup, and the file selection process requires you to select a directory then move up to the parent directories just to find your phone's actual directories, but that's no big deal. Preformance is also excellent, I expected much worse given my phone's specs.

It's scarily complete as an emulator. You could theoretically run a gigantic number of games on your phone. It even has the big big plus that it's a multiplatform emulator. You probably will need other emulators for some more niche games or options, not going to lie, but it's rare. You do have to fight quite a bit with the options and it's definitely not for someone who wants a Plug and Play experience. Overall good experience, after the studying.

So I have two phones, one is the samsung galaxy A20 and the other is the A32. I've noticed that this app is kinda slow on response time.whereas my A20, it's very fast when I push a button on my controller. All I'm saying is that the games on my A32 is slow to respond than on my A20, hope there's an update where this fixes this on my A32 phone. Other than that, the app is very good. You can play all of your favorite retro games.

Not the most user friendly emulator but the community is very helpful. The UI and controls need work on Android, everything else works fine. And that's just it. Everything works"Fine". This is a great general purpose emulator but you may still require some standalone emulators for certain titles. If a developer is reading this, please add a .nomedia file to the RetroArch thumbnail folder. The application is creating multiple albums in my photo gallery. I had to do it manually.

I can emulate Dreamcast games without a hitch. Unlike Redream, this app does not kick me back to the home screen. My only complaint is that it's hard to set up the emulator itself. You'll need to learn computer science to understand the different options of the emulator. Good one though. Hard to use but once you get it up and running, no issues.

Most people will be put off by how complicated the app seems, but with time you learn what's going on. With this app you can play most systems that can be emulated on Android with a lot of settings allowing you to customize your experience. If that was all I had to say I'd say it's a 5, however the only issue is that for higher end emulation, look elsewhere. My device can run GameCube, but through retroarch I can't play ds at full speed.

Retroarch64 is phenomenal. It's a big improvement over the original, sure it's not perfect but it's the best of it's kind. Let's talk about some minor flaws: the search option doesn't work, on Atari 2600 games some of the controls doesn't work I suggest for each core, the controls change (ex. if you're playing an NES game there should only be the b and a button and the d pad) and deleting cores takes a longer process than necessary. That's all. Great emulator.

The better version of Retroarch for mobile. Has most everything you'd need for non-PC emulation, and has run well with everything I've put on it. If a core doesn't work, or doesn't perform as well as you'd like, you've others to choose from. Touch controls can be finnicky, but in my opinion, that's just mobile gaming in general.

This is a great program, I'm glad that I have found it. Easy to set up. Its free. Covers all the retro systems I grew up with and more. A uniformed user interface, this make gaming on the phone painless. It has Touch controls and supports Hardware Controllers. Its is also cross platform, you can use this program on multiple devices. I play on my phone, but it can also be on a TV box, Pc, Raspberry Pi, etc.

Awesome concept. Unfortunately it's so buggy that it's not even worth trying. The normal version of the app works for most things besides PS2 (which doesn't work at all) but you're still drawing straws every time you launch the app. This version will fail you every time though with absolute nonsense bugs that make you want to drive into a wall

Its awesome. The organization works great. One gripe I have is that sometimes scanning the games automatically won't work, but most of the time that can be fixed by updating the game database or by adding it manually. Everything that I've played on this ran great on my Samsung note 8, except some shaders. for a wishlist, a way to change the gamepad overlay a bit more easily would lo d be nice. The ability to customize the menus would be nice too.

Wonderful emulator, works very well with most games. That being said, it has problems with Non-Nintendo platforms, especially with changing the overlay controls. Even with the NDS emulator, there are many issues. But other than that, my only suggestion would be to add a turbo button. Great work.

I very much enjoy and advocate for Retroarch. The good is that it will play any system you would want and you can customize your experience very much. Generally runs smooth. Unfortunately I find that I waste a lot of times when the app resets my system configs. And won't read my save state files. Sometimes not even the rom save. I have these issues on Windows and Android. Today it crashed on me with 32X. I configure the emu, and a week later, I get unreliable framerates or audio issues.

Only thing I use this is for nes games. It works fine for almost all of them except few. Only problem I have with this is controls are little hard. I would also like to move the joystick rather than having fixed joystick. Also, being able to change size of an individual button would be great. Overall, really great app.

Perfect! Great way to play your favorite ROMs on your phone. Los of options to tinker with, but really, easy enough to use if you don't care about the options as well. You might have to do some research on some, but for those that want to make it work.. it's nothing you can't handle. Sooooo many cool features if you're a classic gaming nut! Thanks!! 👍👍👍

This is the best emulator to have on your phone for an array of games!! The only problem I ran into is that when I play a PSX game that uses the select button on the controller my PS4 controller is rendered useless, as the share button nor the touchpad act as a select button!! I don't have a different bluetooth controller, and I absolutely HATE touchscreen controls!! Could you please fix this??

Die. O. P. Sep 9, 2021

The contributions Libretro and Retroarch have done for the emulation scene are priceless. Yes it is complex to use initially and full of options to get lost. Once you get the hang of it, you will have the most customized, accurate, and up to date emulation experience you could have. Congratulations to the Retroarch team and keep going.

Honestly, there's a lot less setup than I thought there'd be. If you're not picky about the onscreen display or if you have a Bluetooth controller (I'm using a ps4 controller), this app is almost plug and play. Especially after setting up retropie on a raspberry pi, this is streamlined and simple. Best free multi-emulator platform I've used. Edit: I imagine arcade and MAME will be more finicky, I'm currently not using any of those emus.

Previously was getting constant crashes, latest version seems to run well, even using xmb menu system. So far haven't run into a serious problem, thanks! Two things on ChromeOS I do see: 1) I can't map the "back" button to menu or see an option to set "back" to menu, which would be nice 2) Framerate, even in menus (including glui), rarely goes over about 20fps, even on a semi-beefy system (Lenovo C630). It's pretty noticeable. Might just be ChromeOS though

This app is amazing. I really enjoy having an all in one emulator on my phone its perfect for controller use. But my one problem is that I installed the ps4 format and I can only navigate through it with a controller. Touch screen with this format is impossible to navigate the app I hope you guys can fix this soon. Other than that and wanting some more cores this app is truly one of the best!

Arm. Q. May 16, 2021

Def acting up weird and more complicated than it needs to be to setup and running! The idea is great and I love it! RetroArch should consider writing or make a detailed video explaining how to setup on Android in general, then controls, shaders, cores and introduce the emulator front ends etc etc I definitely hate the UI, setup, the random cores not loading roms and the thing I hare the most is the controller, it's multiple layouts, customizing it, usage 😱

Joh. C. Oct 11, 2021

It's a Very Useful Emulation Beast that lets you play all sorts of Classic Console games, from early Atari to the later PSP games. You just need to boot up a core and have the necessary games to go with said cores. My only Qualm is that, for some reason, While Playing on A Bluetooth Gamepad, it tends to disconnect my gamepad, then reconnect it, but to a different virtual port (Port 2, 3, etc.) with no way to go back to port 1. And it's not my controller doing that. Otherwise, It's amazing~

Clo. Feb 14, 2022

A large amount of emulators (cores) in one place with tons and tons and tons of customization! But there is one problem... UI.. I have been emulating for years and I have tried every major emulator on Android and I have 50+ on PC but... I still can't navigate this app well.. it's far too confusing compared to standalone emulators. I have no idea how to change touch control layout, video settings, etc and I just download every year but fail to use this properly. I've supported from beginning tho.

Har. M. May 10, 2020

Pretty good, the only things that are missing is to be able to delete / install cores, having option topve the controllers to make it more personal and having it look like the actual control like for n64 maybe make it colorful and remove some buttons that isn't needed (like control would look like) other that I would recommend downloading it. I have no problem playing the games

A.R. T. Dec 17, 2019

The interface is still complicated and it needs more modification. Different GUIs are not compatible with all phones. The inputs and overlays lag and the cores are crashing sometimes. The instructions are not accessible through the menu. However, this is almost the only app in google play to gather such various retro consoles in one place.

Eri. C. Oct 3, 2021

That version of this is pretty decent you get automatic updates that you would normally have to manually if you went to the website only bad thing is you can't download cores as you want with the App instead it makes you do them one at a time which does take a little longer but once you have them you're all set. Definitely love how I can play everything that I have on this app a lot easier than getting multiple emulators for each game system.

Stu. A. Mar 2, 2020

Great emulator but I would really like to be able to move the on screen settings like dragging the dpad and buttons around, along with dragging the screen to adjust. Would make DS games way easier to play since they span into the space where the controller is. Other than that, great emulator and I can't wait to see what other games it can play
