RetroMon (Vpet)

The is nice and basic which I like, but there are some flaws that diminish enjoyment. It is unclear the cause and effect of your training. What affects muscle? What effects strength? What do the vitamins do? Nowhere in the game is there a glossery of what each option and its effect does leaving you to guess. If I could give it a 8.5/10 I would, but a 4/5 feels unfair so gave it full stars.

I've played this game for a good amount of time. I changed my phone recently and the progress didn't transfer. I've logged in to the same google play games account and ID. But it restarted the whole thing anyways. Disappointed for now. Please make an account transfer system developers.

Game is fine as it is but I paid to remove ads and then I put this game on a different device and I still have ads so, needs a restore purchase option or something to tie important stuff to the account.

Great app! exactly like the original game plus with benefits such as seeing how many times you've trained, made care mistakes and being able to battle other people without having to link IRL. Ads are not as bad as i thought they would be, there's a constant small ad in the top left which doesnt bother me at all but also get a pop up from time to time but only last a few seconds so can't complain, if that bothers you then you can just pay $3 to remove them all which is pretty fair.

Well made, though some buttons are cut off on the screen like settings. Only improvement would be if there was a widget developed to keep on the phone screen to run in the background rather than opening the app. That's truly where any app like this could shine. Still haven't found a replacement for the one I had years ago. Thank you for bringing back my childhood.

its really good for what it is, which is just a app version of the old toys. I really like the battle system. I think there are a few missed opportunities with the app in retromon - like after you raise a monster, there should be some kind of record of its life, maybe a summary page showing its age, the stages it evolved through, and its fight history. It would also be cool to raise two at a time. And the battle system needs some more info: like an opponent preview when you select an opponent

Pros: - If you want a close emulation to the old Digimon Tamagotchi/Pendulum/V-Pet, then you got it! Even the beeps and icons are accurate. - Clever customization which sets it apart from other v-pet apps (can customize the emulator skin to be either the classic Tamagotchi "egg" design or the Digimon "brick"/"cage" design. Can choose from a wide range of colors and themes. Can even change the app background. The seasonal Halloween background even has background animations. - Online fighting is an innovate feature that makes this app stand apart. Cons - Unlike the old Digimon Vpet, there doesn't seem to be a way to synchronize your time with the monster's time. It would be nice if it used the phone's internal clock. An "alarm" or "clock"/"sleep" feature would be great for the reason below. -Care mistakes are inevitable, mostly because your clock isn't synchronized. It seems like I never really get a break from the monster needing something. Which is bad for when you want to sleep with your phone on, or when you just can't use your phone at the moment (work, school, etc.) - Fighting system gets boring very quickly. Other reviewers cover this, but the system is very simple and relies on stats and 50/50 probability. So not that fun. In conclusion: for barebones v-pet apps, this is pretty darn close to the real deal.

Nostalgia, man. The old games, though not graphically good, brings many memories that even today's games can't make it up to 100%. Well, I prefer oldschool games with simple graphics but great replay ability and content, and this one is one of those games. Kudos to the devs! I would like to suggest highlighting the boxes in the growth chart (with yellow, for instance) indicating the pets you've raised.

Great app with one huge flaw. The notifications do not work, so it is very easy to rack up care mistakes without even noticing. I only get the notifications when I open the app (which neither makes sense nor is remotely useful). I have reached out to the developer, who has failed to respond. Bottom line: Great vpet with one major flaw that could prevent you from enjoying it at all.

I had such a nostalgia rush when I found this app! I love it, but my only complaint is the pop-up ads that appear when you back out of menus at times. They take up the whole screen and if I'm trying to tap fast to something else I end up tapping the ad itself. The scrolling ads at the top are fine.

The game works well enough and is highly reminiscent of virtual pets of the past. However there are is an issue. The notifications show intermittently. Sometimes it happens, but not enough to avoid care mistakes if you need to. It's not a deal breaker though, as it does make me check the app every once in a while.

Very awesome, and very faithful to the original! As I have owned a few of the originals so many years ago, I love the nostalgia! One of my favorite aspects was raising two mon simultaneously in different ways and fighting them. I would love to see the ability to have another digivice or two simulated and be able to battle them locally.

While I find this a great throw back to the originals I am a little disappointed that you advertise different case styles to choose from yet I am stuck with just the one. I spent the money to remove the ads thinking that would allow me to use different cases but nope I'm still stuck with the one. Besides that little issue this is pretty great give me case selection and I'll rate it 5 stars

After trying different Vpet emulation apps, clones and whatnots, I have to admit that as of now, this one is the best one so far. It's almost faithful to the original vpets but what I like most is that it has online features that lets you battle other people around the world, theres also barcode scanning which can encourage you to explore to find monsters to battle. If you cant afford a vpet one yet, this is a good alternative with online features. Edit: please add freeze/pause function

Ads are absolute f#ing annoying for starters unless you pay $3 aud to remove them.... Care mistakes don't show once at age 7 or 8 when in 2nd last evolution form ( one before last evolution ) unless checking settings to see, so now I missed out on last evolution thanks heaps! Makes you wonder if its done on purpose so you pay $3 to evolve.....Apart from that a good game.

Great game. A great alternative for people who can't buy dvpet. I hope you can make an acct to save. So when I buy something like remove add and change my phone. I can carry my purchases to my new phone. Also can you add more sounds on some action like when my pet are eating. Lastly please lower the battle time. Like why wait for 5 rounds if you can lower it to 3 rounds. Watching 5 rounds is kinda long. And Please add a WIDGET. It would be great to check your pet w/out opening the app.

Game is fun. Its what you expect from a digimon clone. Issues though connecting to my google play account for the leader board. Out side of that, it still works well. Only wish would be that there were more options for the case though. I like the box design but wish there were some anime esque design options to choose from.

Very fun I do hope that eventually that will be an update to where you can choose what type you want your pet to sleep. (Additional suggestion) If there's times where you're unable to attend to your pet they should have a feature to where you can freeze your pet and then resume later that would be a really cool feature to have. I would so download it again if such a feature was added I will always have respect for this game and the nostalgia it gave me.

It's nice to have a digimon vpet again. Could I suggest adding a widget so we can see the mon outside of the app.

Not gonna lie,the barcode scanner (non-digimon) option are cool!and I wish there's a qr code scanner so I scan my id to see what digimon I can fight,well thumbs up to the app!

App stopped responding after a full screen ad. Restarting the app kept the problem, as did opening it via notification. Seems to have potential as a good classic virtual pet game, but when monetization comes above and beyond basic functionality, it doesn't deserve more than 1 star.

Terrible. Won't even rotate vertical. Adds And in app purchases... Greedy. All the time spent on making money but can't even make it rotate vertical... Turning my phone and needing two hands, isn't really a fun pet on the phone... Nostalgia out the window from the adds ECT. Sigh... So close yet nothing adds up.... I'll just spend actual money and get me two digivices from Amazon or something.... Better than dealing with this .... I miss androgotchi...

Retromon is a Digimon V-Pet Style experience without the annoyance of the actual V-Pets, essentially requiring less constant care but rather balanced focused care throughout the day. I really hope they take inspiration from this and DVPet to create a more time-flexible and overall complex version as a sequel. The current game is a great break in for newcomers to V-Pets.

For those of you like me who played the first Digimon Tamagotchi virtual pets in the mid 90s, this will be a piece of welcome nostalgia! I remember "battling" my friends at break time, and trying to get one of those coveted Ultimates (which were hard to actually get to evolve into one back then).

Can you add a small guide. I don't know what the 8th option is or does and I can't select it. Otherwise a faithful recreation. Online is the selling point. But you should remove the ability to buy evolutions.
