RIDGID OCTANE™ Battery

My experience is that it is very difficult to pair the batteries at all. And if you don't open up the app every time your at the jobsite it doesn't connect to the ones you do get paird up. So if you want to locate a battery it shows you the last place you successfully connected to it was. The application has some huge potential but until it is streamlined I think the batteries are over priced due to the Bluetooth technology that is sketchy at best.

Some of the reviews I'm reading are hilarious! You cannot use the GPS to track your battery it has to be near your phone in order for the GPS to work, kind of pointless. I left my batteries at home today and while I was at work I tried to turn the batteries off (4 miles away)and it wouldn't work, the only way I could turn them off was if I was in Bluetooth range which is kind of pointless. It would work awesome if you saw someone steal a battery and take off running with it then you could turn the battery off but then again that's pointless.

Buggy. If you connect to a battery that's on the charger, a pop up window appears showing the current charge level. The only option is to choose "OK" to dismiss window however the app becomes unresponsive at that point and actually impairs the entire operation of the phone. The only fix is force termination of the app. Restarting produces the same issue.

I bought one of the most expensive batteries for my new drill. Retail is $199. It won't pair up. You have to press and hold the battery button and get a prompt after the light turns blue. I accepted the pairing request. It says to continue holding the button, it keeps timing out. Tried a dozen times or more. Doesn't work. Afraid to keep trying as I don't want to ruin the button on such an expensive battery.

Bluetooth connected right away, show live info on the battery. Honestly some of this is ridiculous, it hasn't been updated, the new charger isn't included in charger section of the app and it would be nice to change the temperature from farenheit to celcius. Update Still haven't added their charger that's been out for a couple years. I dont think there has ever been an update for the app...

Half the time it doesn't work. Can't upload receipts and batteries don't respond the way they are supposed to over Bluetooth. Registration of tools should go MUCH smoother than I've experienced. It's simple information to submit, but they are constantly having errors and not allowing you to submit. Took me two weeks just to get my tools registered to start the process because of this.

Hey Guys im a ridgid User and have many many batteries. I haven't had trouble with the octane connecting. out of the 13 octane batteries I've had only 1 had trouble. Well I got lil trick. install it and reinstall app. when you start the app. instead of putting your ridgid ID or account skip it. for some reason it bypasses whatever keeps it from connecting. I don't buy retail. there are alot of sellers out there. don't by retail. I got almost 30 batteries for half price. just research.

Absolute junk, constantly loosing connection to battery and the lock feature is useless when it comes back into range unless app is always running. I would rather have a dongle that I can carry and when I move away from tools it locks batteries when I come close it starts working again, I think dewalt has this. Otherwise the app is a total disappointment.

Cautiously optimistic... So many bad reviews here, but I just bought my first 4 Octane batteries during the Cyber Monday sale - installed this app and all four batteries paired just fine. I can lock/unlock, show metadata, edit names, locate each, etc. - no problems at all. I'll see if I run into any of issues mentioned in other reviews... but so far, everything seems to be working just fine.

Great idea, bad Android implementation. Android phones generally will not pair with batteries made in 2018, it usually takes literal hours to get them to pair. I got the same experience with a pixel 3 as well as a Lenovo tablet. Connections are hit-or-miss, I can be sitting a foot away from a battery and it takes 5-10 minuets for it to be found. If it times out you need to go into a batteries details and back out to get it to keep scanning. My wife's iPhone pairs and connects almost instantly.

Everything I try to do in the app that requires communication with the battery, i get an error "Firebase sync failed". Notifications constantly flood in every second after I turn ed notifications on and somehow I can't turn them off now! This app is way too buggy to be available to the public.

Tried on two different LG G6 phones. The "battery full" pop-up within the app hangs the app, the phone, or both. System notifications don't seem to happen at all. The app repeatedly asks to choose a charger even though a default charger is already set. The Bluetooth features of Octane batteries are rendered useless by this flawed app.

My experience with the batteries are ok but as far as the lock feature I already had to get a replacement cause one battery got locked out and could not unlock it so the battery is pretty much useless to use with only having it not even a year. Hopefully the developers can figure a way to justify having people trashing batteries cause the app doesn't lock them out.

Works but appears to have a limit only allowing 6 batteries to be paired in the app. The 7th battery won't pair and gives no error message. Forget an old battery and the 7th will pair without issue. This seems like a very unnecessary and restricting lol imitation that is not documented.

Garbage cannot pair 2nd battery. I've disabled enabled Bluetooth the scan times out every single time. Battery does not pair. I don't know why it's so hard to pair a stupid battery! Frustrating after you've spent almost 2 hours with no luck. I am puzzled why I was able to pair the 3ah battery and not the 6ah.

3ah battery not reading (says ?ah in app) correctly even tho app says fixed and Ridgid isn't sending the email verification link. I can't access any features without confirming my email. So far not impressed I have a bunch of old batteries that refuse to charge not happy with that either something tells me all the tech in these batteries prevents them from charging. Adding 2 chargers in app confuses the charge time

Very useful app for monitoring Ridgid batteries. Knocked 1 star off for it continuously asking me what kind of charger I am using even after setting the default. (I only have 1 style of charger.) Knocked another star off for being a royal pain to get the batteries to pair the first time as it kept timing out. And knocking a 3rd star off since half the time the batteries don't connect to the app even though they are right next to my phone.

I love the tools but still trying to completely figure out and learn the a purpose of the bluetooth feature because located if it was stolen doesn't work because you have to look close enough to look up Bluetooth I connect to it if someone steals it and they're a hundred yards away from you you still not going to find it because it can't connect Bluetooth how far it is to be connected via satellite digital radio waves or something but if anyone can help Meowth with any helpful information how to

Will read the battery condition and history, but any action (locate, lock) result in "Firebase Failed, connect to the internet ". I'm connected. An app with a lot of potential but poorly implemented and supported. Don't make a tool buy decision based on the feature

Decent app, i like the idea, but notifications are broken. i have 2 batteries both only charged once. in both charging instamces i recieved over 100 notifications telling me the charge was finished and my phone ui crashed trying to handle the notifications....had to turn notification off in app......

Does not keep the bluetooth connection with the battery, you have to keep the screen on with the app open. Reconnecting takes forever. I want loud notifications. A lot to improve.

Paired just fine. But anytime I try using the lock feature or locate button I get the same error. Firebase Sync Failed. It says to connect to internet which I am fully connected to the internet. Not impressed.

Ridgid needs to step up the game. I like the tools but they are falling behind. I have Milwaukee tools at work and love the "One Key" app(good job). I still like the power and reliability of Ridgids tools concidering im still using my original Gen 5 imact and hammer drill from 4 years ago. The tech is lacking convenience in an embarrassing way for any Ridgid fan. At this moment I physically can not recommend anyone to buy into a product that does not work. I really expected more from Ridgid.

"Location Unavailable" and the battery won't show up in the app. Its connected to my phone via bluetooth, but won't pull up in the app. It worked on a battery that wound up being a used battery, took it back and got a new one, and it won't work in the app. Did I mention that it won't work in the app?

Best cordless tools on market, hands down. Been through them all. But this app will not pair any of my 3 new batteries. Tried different phones. No luck. Didn't really care and not practical for a real job site. But thought I would test it out.

Doesn't connect to batteries. I got it to connect to 2 of the 4 batteries I have. This scares me as it seems to not want to connect to batteries that I can lock half the time as well. What if the battery is locked then this app won't connect again do I have a brick? Probably so... So my advice is DO NOT USE THIS APP.

Bluetooth Security for a $200 Battery?! Hell yeah! This app tracks everything you could ever want for a very expensive battery. I feel very confident about taking this battery to large job sites. This type of security along with the Ridgid Lifetime Service agreement makes these batteries the perfect choice for people who only want to buy batteries once.

I wish this app worked. I could be useful. I have 8 batteries will only let me connect to 6. Now half of the time it won't find those anymore. The only reason I give it 2 stars is the hope that Ridgid fixes it.

Extremely disappointed with this application, I was originally able to peer three batteries with the app but after a couple of days I can only connect my (9 ah) and (6 ah) but my (3 ah) battery will no longer connect to the app to provide a status.

Paired to my battery within seconds. Displays all the correct information. All functions in app working perfectly on my Samsung Note 10+. Really excited about the unlock/lock feature!!
