The prayers that make up the Rosary are arranged in sets of ten Hail Mary, called decades. Each decade is preceded by one Prayer of the Lord, followed by one Glory Be. During the recitation of each set, one of the Mysteries of the Rosary is considered, which evoke events from the life of Jesus and Mary. Five decades are said for the rosary. Other prayers are sometimes added before or after each decade. Rosary beads help to recite these prayers in the right order.

The rosary begins on a short passage:

The sign of the cross on the Crucifix;
Prayer "O Lord, open my mouth, God, help me, Lord, take your time to help me," still in the Crucifix;
Credo of the Apostles, still on the Cross;
Lord's Prayer with the first great beads (for the Pope's intentions and the needs of the Church);
Hail Mary on each of the next three beads (for three theological virtues: faith, hope and love); and
Praise Be on the next big beads.
Then there is praying for decades, repeating this cycle for every mystery:

Announce the secret;
Lord's Prayer on a large bead;
Hail Mary on each of the ten neighboring small beads;
Praise be on the surface before the next big bulge; and
Summarizing:

The Salve Regina;
Loreto Litany;
Any further intentions; and
Cross sign

The mysteries of the Rosary are meditations on episodes in the life and death of Jesus from the Annunciation to the Ascension and beyond, called Joyful (or Joyful) Mysteries, Sorrowful Secrets and Glorious Mysteries. Each of these Mysteries contemplates five different stages of Christ's life.

The 15 promises belong to the category of "private revelation" and as such they are a devout tradition in which one can freely believe or not.

Whoever will serve me faithfully through the recitation of the Rosary will receive signal favors.
I promise my special protection and the greatest favors to all who pray the Rosary.
The Rosary will be a powerful armor against hell, will destroy vices, reduce sin and overcome heresy.
This will cause the blossoming of virtues and good deeds; for the soul, he will receive the abundant mercy of God; it will turn the hearts of people away from the love of the world and its vanity, and will set them to thirst for eternal things. Oh, these souls were sanctifying in this way.
The soul that recommends to me through the recitation of the Rosary will not perish.
Whoever says the Rosary devoutly, following the considerations of his sacred secrets, will never be conquered and never overwhelmed by misfortune. God will not punish him in his justice, he will not perish by a failed death (unprepared for heaven). The sinner will convert. The righteous grow in grace and become worthy of eternal life.
Whoever has a true devotion to the Rosary will not die without the sacraments of the Church.
