Road to Hana Maui Driving Tour

We relied on this app for almost the entirety of our driving tours around Maui. It was clear right away that we made the right choice and were in good hands. User friendly, consistent functionality and the storytelling between stopping points keep you from getting bored. The narrator was entertaining and educational. Highly recommend.

Did the road yesterday and the guide was fantastic. Followed our route seemlessly using GPS, the option for offline downloads is a must because for most of the day we had no service. The stories, music, and information on the way there were helpful planning and day of. The return trips focus on history was a great way to end the day. I gotta recommend you try to break the trip up into 2 days if you really wanna see and do a lot. Highly recommended for everyone and totally worth the cost.

Lots of cool info and it gave great directions on how to get to the various sites/activities. Loved that you could download the tours and use them with your GPS because there were a lot of areas where we didn't have cell service. Definitely a must and well worth the price.

It was great to hear commentary along the way to Hana (where we spent 3 days) and back. Especially since they auto adjust regardless of any detours or back and forth we do. Suggestions are actually useful. Thanks!

We used Shaka Guide Maui on the road to Hana. The narration was very pleasant, the navigation was clear with plenty of advance notice when approaching points of interest, and best of all the information content was spot on. It's like having a personal tour guide in your own car. I highly recommend this app!

Did RTH today and the app was a huge help! On the way to Hana a lot of the parking was already filled up. Would've given a 5 if the same waypoints were pointed out again on the way back to stop when parking was available.

Accurate, informative and easy to use! Shaka Guide was my navigator on 2 separate trips to Maui (2017, 2022) It is much more than a navigator as the guide includes a rich history narrative and interesting stories. A wonderfully entertaining app!

Worth the money. Period. My family and I looked at a lot of different touristy apps and this eemed like the best bet in regards to content. It is NOT comprehensive and only covers some of the most major stops. However, it is a good narrative and very helpful for an easy adventure. The app itself works well as long as you read the instructions.

Fantastic app to guide you through the road to Hana. Great narration and seamless functionality. Basically download the tour, click go, and interesting facts and fun places to stop are triggered as you drive along. No interaction with the phone necessary once you've started. The info is great and the stops were high quality. Definitely do your research before driving the road, but once you've done that this app is the cherry on top.

The app was very helpful and full of interesting facts. We went all the way from Paia to the national park past Hana. We were returning the same way and wanted to make a stop at the rainbow trees mentioned on the way, but were not mentioned on the way back, so we missed them. Also some of the music was very sleepy. We would definitely recommend and use again!

Loved it! In addition to the navigation and stories, it gave helpful information on bathrooms, restaurants, and safety. The app does take a lot of power so you may want to grab a portable battery pack for your phones, if you have them, before starting out. Trips we took later in the day, when we didn’t start with a full charge, nearly wiped out our batteries.

Great app. Does use a lot of battery, so bring your cord and keep it plugged in the whole time. Helpful information about turn offs, viewpoints, stops, food, bathrooms, trails and hikes. There is some more historical information on the return trip back from Hana. It was definitely worth it!

Drove the Road to Hana yesterday using this guide and it was the most wonderful experience. It is impeccably timed and informative. I love the amount of Hawaiian history you get to learn from it, especially on the drive back. And the music was wonderful too. So appreciative of how perfect this tour made our trip! Mahalo!! 🤙

Great guidance to find the cool waterfalls and other sites along the way. I appreciated the extra info on natural and human history, fee and reservation requirements, etc. Could use info about a greater number of sites and fewer interruptions about fruit stands. The narrator seemed friendly but like a corporate guy trying to sound native? I loved that the autoplay was linked to GPS so we didn't have to count miles. Worth the $ if you are last minute planning and didn't have time to research.

Excellent driving guide for Hawaii! We have used this app for the islands of Hawaii and Maui. Both are excellent at giving directions, telling the history and legends of the islands & providing music & entertainment along the way. It really enhances our experience in Hawaii!

We are so glad we purchased this app for our road to Hana trip. We would have missed out on so much without it. I recommend getting the entire bundle. Also note, you can start the tour at any point so if the map doesn't quite match up to your plans, it's fine. You can stop at or pass by any of the suggestions and the app works fine. The app is awesome. It is very informative and makes our trip more fun. Even typically people own use it once during the trip, it is still worthy the money I think.

This is a fantastic app! Highly recommend making the purchase. So much better than jumping on a bus/van with 50 people you don't know. You can hear the guide, you pick where you stop, and you control how long you stay. The turn-by-turn directions are easy to follow and narrations incredibly informative. I give it 5 shaka' bra!!

Amazing app! They provide a great guide on the Road to Hana and up Haleakala. Not only did I know where to stop in the journey but I also learned a lot about Hawaii and the culture

the audio tour was a big help in finding the spots to stop and the stories were interesting too.

Was a very thorough guide for the road to Hana! I would recommend adding some music during the non speaking portions, just for some continued island vibes as you soak in the beauty of Hana 🤙

Great app. Very useful for the road ro Hana in Maui. We did the classic a few years ago. This time we did the reverse.

So easy and comprehensive! I don't love tours because I go at my own pace, but I'm also afraid I'll miss out on something - this app was the PERFECT balance, the guide was super likeable, and he made the complex driving route very manageable and clear. Highly recommend!!

Great app for Road to Hana trip. GPS integration worked excellent. The Hawaii history info was also great. Would definitely recommend. Check the app out prior to your trip for things like required reservations, etc. It is also a battery intense app so have power or battery backup with you.
