Take control of the music in the gym! Pretty wide selection of music, all the songs that would be "inappropriate" are visible but not available. You can gain "levels" of your DJ status. Rating system to see what songs other people have liked and disliked that you have played. Sometimes the gym I'm at won't show up or it's grayed out, however this is rare. Overall a very smart and useful app. Pretty cool name too.
This app unfortunately will randomly decide when it wants to play music you selected or music that was already in its queue. It should probably always prioritize user selected music. Additionally, giving a thumbs down to a song doesn't stop it from playing. This isn't for user selected music but for its preselected queue. It simply pushes it back to be played later. No matter how many people don't want a particularly disliked song to be played it'll march closer and inevitably be played.
"Hearts" songs or artists after one play, sometimes its a member request that I'm playing from my phone because they can't figure out how to do it themselves. Would be nice if more songs could be requested when there are only one or two DJs.. for those times I'm alone in the building. An optional 5 or 10 second clip of a song to make sure its the right one would be cool.
Very disappointed that I cannot play any song from my Spotify account nor could I find a (search) option within your app. You need to at least keep up with Spotify as far as the depth of your musical library goes and then you need to also allow the user to be able to play any song of their choosing (as long as it isn't vulgar and offensive). Until then, you get a one star from me.
I work overnight at a planet fitness, and always hated listening to the same newer songs over and over again. There were many days that I went home with some stupid song stuck in my head, because the old system literally played it 8 times in one night! No More! Now if I don't like the songs they are playing, then I can make the playlist. Thanks rockbot!
Rockbot is a great jukebox like experience and implements a popularity based song voting system and other features that are well thought out. The main problems with the app are met with venue options, when venues are able to control the pricing and types of songs that can be played it can make for a boring or costly experience. Rockbot would be better off with a base price for it's services and without the censorship of what songs can and cannot be played. Despite this, if you're able to find a good venue with full song variety and good prices, rockbot is the perfect jukebox replacement!
User interface makes no sense. Does not allow me to see or hear my own music in my own playlists on my own phone. I try to prep my music first, for when I go out but u have to connect to a venue first which is of "course out of range."So the only option to fiddle with music is to select Rockbot HQ(which does not do anything and is pretty much pointless.) In HQ, I tap music it says I have too many songs on queue and ppl start liking the song I selected when I can't even hear it myself.
This app is at my dispensary, and it does help with with the aura in the workplace, but it still needs work. There needs to be a vote skip for songs not selected by anyone, the requests shouldn't be limited since we have so many good song ideas that keeps the morale high, and when they add great music, they end up either taking away other great songs or end up taking that music they just installed off in a day.
NEW REVIEW: Very great communication between user and developers, they are willing to take suggestions on what to add to their lineup of music, I hope they are able to include as much music as they can. This could actually make my gym sessions more fun as I'll have to "DJ" between sets 😁 Old review (2⭐) App works but has barely any songs, and of the songs they have they're all over 4 years old.
At First, the App worked Great at Planet Fitness Sarasota. Over the last month, the music selection was reduced by over 90%. No reason... the music is just NOT AVAILABLE. The gym has no idea, it really has an impact on the environment there. If it was fixed... it's a 5 Star App!
Should give more control if you're the only dj logged in. The auto select songs mostly are terrible trash songs with few exceptions. Also many songs and artists are not available. Songs that play on public radio but some how deemed inappropriate in a gym of all places. Its nice having a few songs get priority over the auto selected trash but that ends quickly.
A little clumsy, but pretty nice. The integration with Spotify is poor and there is some ambiguity as to how/whether songs are recommended for approval. To be more specific with respect to Spotify, you can link your spotify and sync playlists, but nowhere in the Rockbot UI (at least not apparently) can I access my spotify playlists or songs.
This app only seems to download about half my songs. I ose this app at planet fitness, sporadically I can't hear any of my music, it seems to play music with computer enhanced vocals. I like alot of classic hard rocks song from the 70' and 80's.it they improve upon that ill change rating to 5 stars.
The rules and algorithms have made a very customer-unfriendly turn in late 2019. Often I'm the only person (and definitely the only Rockbot DJ) in my small gym at night. A lot of slow, gym-inappropriate songs show up in queue. I used to be able to downvote these and they'd fall off the list for that round. Now, it takes SEVEN votes for a song to exit! There aren't even seven people in the entire gym at the time! Why when100% of listeners downvote it is it still played? It used to work fine!
Decent but if you want to just use shuffle played instead of paying it will ALWAYS pick the same song. Example, I pick Tech n9ne, yeah I like It deal with it, and it's always the song I'ma Tell, every day, I hit add another shuffle, can't songs already on the list, and every time I hit shuffle add I get that same message. Aside from that the ability to pick music is awesome and I hope to see stuff like this fixed.
Great concept, but execution needs some work. I have two main gripes: 1. Very often people will downvote every other song so that theirs to get to the top. This is pretty toxic, so devs should maybe limit the amount of active downvotes you can put out. 2. Second problem is selection, it isn't terrible, but not great. It seems like they are partnered with spotify for some stuff, so they should just open up spotify's library to be suggested. The first issue is bigger and I'll update if fixed
The app lags and doesn't update your recent plays. When you try to request a song, it won't bring up the search option. It just keeps spinning trying to load and then says it couldn't connect. Makes it frustrating when you want to play your choice of music while working out.
The app needs a way to deal with queue times. The most common use for RockBot is in college dining halls and similar environments, so the average user is only around the music for 10-15 mins or so. This means that peoples' songs often don't play until they've left. If the system could detect this and skip songs when the requester leaves the area, user experience would be significantly improved. The app is also extremely slow, especially when querying data. It seems there is no caching.
