Finally had to give up on my DSR1 after getting one the day they launched (even after multiple launch delays). The Perfect Tune app to control all the functions just never quite worked, and looks like RF has mostly given up on the DSR1 with no updates in over 2 years to the app and almost 2 years to the DSR1 firmware itself. In theory this should be an amazing piece of audio tech, in practice seems riddled with issues big and small. Dumped my OEM head unit and went with an aftermarket using the Maestro RR2 and have never been happier. All the functions just work, sounds is amazing, finally a set-it-and-forget-it system
Buggy. Time alignment doesn't work. Also, there's quite a bit of lag between button switching and when the dsr1 actually makes the change. It seems like the buttons can forget to change when the actual setting has changed, such as for the polarity switch. Would be five stars if they fixed all the bugs
Using a Galaxy with this app is a nightmare at times. You lose Bluetooth connection when you switch from your audio app and back. Also the screen doesn't work in landscape mode in certain aspects such as trying to access the advanced eq settings. There is more but I doubt anybody is listening. To me it was a waste of money.
Constantly disconnects or wont connect. More often than not, when using the app, the DSR1 stops responding to tuning changes and just makes popping noises when you try to change time alignment. Basically totally useless. iOS version of the app works fine most of the time.
Constantly disconnects using Android. Have tried multiple devices and multiple DSR1s and have the same issue. Good for about 2 minutes then disconnects and can't make the changes needed. Same result on Android 11 and 12. Apple devices don't seem to have the same issue but I hate Capple products.
Product is good. Bluetooth is not connecting, after few min automatically disconnects, don't know, what is the reason, eager to use the tuning function at speaker level for the past 1 week, DSR 1 should have auto calibration tech also implimented asap.
Honestly the DSR1 is great in premise but falls short in functionality. The app is buggy and just really a pain to use beyond a very basic configuration. I could go on for hours talking about the issues but let's just say skip it and get something else.
Ok the disconnect issue is annoying. But why do we only have one sub output level? And only one control for punch eq, sub vol, and master vol, when it clearly asks for 2 to be displayed? Come on Rockford, I just dumped alot of cash for my Rockford fosgate system, please fix these issues, this is the only way to communicate with the dsr1, I'd like to be able to use it to the full potential and not have to buy an iPad along with the system
Worst app/product ever. it connects to dsr-1 1% of the time. when it does, it takes forever for it to respond. now randomly it Won't output any audio other than subs... and I can't tell if it's a hardware issue or software issue since it never connects or works...
Awful app for Android using a t-harness. Not to sure if its my Essential phone, the app, or the unit itself but it connects ok, just can't tune it because it states its still in Maestro mode. Used my wifes iphone to tune and it works flawlessly. App seems to have major issues with Android.
This device is amazing when it works. But with the new update you are stuck and cant really do much. I have a sound off competition in 2 days and i had to spend $600 on a radio to go around this issue until they fix this app
DSR1 is a good product but Perfect Tune apps do not work on Android Oneplus phone, actually it cannot detect the device but on ipad it works. Why you guys not updating the app for connection issues on Android. Awaiting your reply. Thanks
Pure junk for the Samsung Galaxy phone. Opens fine but can never import a DSR tune. We tried everything. Ask for Rockford's help thru their chat and their (Steve) answer was "call us during business hours" and hung up. I couldn't even respond back. Worst customer service I have experienced. Some of us work for living and can't do things during business hours! Won't be buying anymore more Rockford products if thats how they talk to their customers. Their app is mainly written for IPhone and patched together for Android
App won't connect. It acs like it connects to the dsr1 but none of the controls works. Had to use an old iPhone which I don't want to have to always carry with me if I need to make changes to any settings. Would give a 0 star review if I could for the android app
Settings not being saved in TIME ALIGNMENT It's really disappointing to see that the customer care representative stating that there is no such issue existing. And this was declared by the agent on the US TOLL FREE NUMBER. However after checking the reviews it is clear that the issue is related to software bug...
Not a good App or purchase if you looking to upgrade your Harley. The APP will not recognize the Surface PRO as a usable device, The DSR will not connect VIA Bluetooth to my Galaxy S9,. Its possible the DSR only connects to Ijunk. Was hoping to upgrade my Harley Road Glide system but now its just loud distorted music. This is trash if you dont use Ijunk. Android users are SOL but thats not what tgey told me when i bought it. DO NOT BUT THIS AND EXPECT YOUR HARLEY TO SOUND GOOD IF YOU USE MS.
What a horrible afterthought of an app. Continuous: "Disconnected... java.lang.Exception: The DSR1 timed out during communication and is unresponsive" Completely unable to make any changes with the android app.
Most of the times App control is not responding...seems DSR Bluetooth is not responding too. It will be better if this app have inbuilt RTA and pink noise generator. This will help to adjust the EQ manually or an auto option to set EQ accordingly
Under developed compared to the IOS app. In vehicle configuration it lacks FR Tweeter, FR Midrange. FL Tweeter FL Midrange. RR Full range, RL Full Range. Subwoofer. Which utilizes all eight outputs. Available on the IOS app not on the Android app.
This app is basically useless on Android. Thank goodness I have an iPad to use on it. Doesn't connect, and even if it says it does, you couldn't tell because it does nothing.
Doesn't save settings despite multiple attempts. Android version is unusable. Had to use Apple version on wife's iPhone to get DSR1 to work properly.
Android is left with limited functionality. Tune controls do not work so why bother with purchasing? I don't have the luxury of having an apple anything to make it work. Really RF?
never connects to my phone. when it does it closes on its own. forget it if you use bluetooth as well junk in my opinion what happened rockford?
Please update your android App " im unable to see the Eq values in the graph , as a programmer your app is not optimized for different screen size phones .. there are more Android users out there with the same issue.
It works when it want and sometimes I get this noise coming out of my front left speaker and when I'm reversing the sensors alert its super loud that it blew one of my tweeter out n it has no adjustment
Once you get the Bluetooth to actually connect and stay connected the app works well. For the average user this makes a big improvement in the sound. Navigating through the screens can be a bit confusing when you have no idea what these setting's are or do. A little help with some basic setups or information as to whete to start would be helpful. With some time spent on the internet I was able to establish a starting point. I have a lot more reading to do to figure out how to fine tune my setup.
