There are several benefits to using SavvyBud Roku Remote as compared to regular RF remote:
1. There are some commands in SavvyBud Roku Remote which are not available in Roku IR remote, such as ability to navigate to a channel directly or enter text using keyboard.
2. Some older IR remotes may not have "*" button which allows rearranging of channels.
3. You can also control your Roku from anywhere in your house where you have WiFi network.
4. Version 2.7 onwards of Roku SDK introduce hidden channels. These private channels will not show on the channel springboard, but can be launched with SavvyBud roku remote.
5. Although not recommended, it is possible to control your roku player over the Internet if you setup your router for port tunneling (for example if you are using sling box).

The logos for the channels do not load up, like none of them do. HTC one M7.

Most user friendly Love it on all my devices
Added the roku player and worked like a charm. Cool interface. I have the iPad version of app as well and this is very comparable. Love the icon.
The latest version has very nice improvements. Love it on my Nexus 7.
Agreed. It is a bit awkward. But. It's great in a pinch. it always connects for me. I use it as a quick temporary fix till I find me real remote.
I have the same app on my iphone, which is a lot better than this . I find this to be very annoying . I hope it gets fixed like the iphone soon

This Roku remote has a lot more features than that official Roku app. You can switch from channel to channel via a side menu. Bear in mind, you have to pay $1.49 to get this feature. That seems worth it. Also, the app did not find my Roku, perhaps because I have it on Ethernet and not WL. But, adding the Roku manually took about 60 seconds. If you want to control your Roku with your mobile device, this is your answer.
