Update: fixed my one star review because they fixed the cloud subscription issue I was having. Also, zenbeats 3 is a total beast! However I am getting alot of crackles and glitches in my audio from any source and don't even have that much running. I've tried the audio buffer to the extreme. As well as disabling the UI animations... But also. I have been using wireless Bluetooth earbuds, I know it causes a delay, I'm fine with that... Could the Bluetooth buds be causing the crackles?
Before Zenbeats, I used Stagelight, and from my experience, it was a lot easier to use than the previous app. I'm updating my review from a 5 star rating to a 2 star rating because of the functionality of the app. The update made the whole app better, but shortcuts like saving using ctrl + s on my chromebook are gone. It also stopped working after the first time I opened the app, and my whole computer decides that it's not able to play audio from anything anymore.
I have a lot of desktop and mobile apps and this one is pretty underrated. Doesn't overwhelm you with a lot of unnecessary information, especially because on your phone you probably have limited real estate. I've had good luck connecting class compliant devices and using them as both I/O and MIDI. Is able to see Bluetooth MIDI from my Jupiter-XM even though the Android operating system itself cannot. I can import patches from my Jupiter XM and the internal synth (ZC1) plays them back. Not bad.
Had years of working on this platform until I updated to 3.0. The application won't open now. This app has worked just fine on my Samsung Chromebook plus for years. Hope something can get figured out. I have fully unlocked for windows and android, but can't use it on my Chromebook on the go. First time I've been let down by this platform.
Though not a full daw great for loop building. Update 3. Just downloaded and like the looks and feel. Tried to come to terms with the editing for audio and that is the weakest point but the midi ...Aaaaahhhh. The midi is awesome !!! Audio editing seems to be easier outside of Zenbeats, still though I can't isolate a loop section and remove it while preserving loop length thereby making a new excerpt to re use, let's do some digging! since work flow is different in ZB..But selling unlock 3???
This would be one of my favorite mobile DAWs, except for some pretty bad latency on Chromebook. It basically has most of what I like about Cubasis and FL Studio Mobile, and I would use this as my main DAW if it weren't for the latency. Of course, it is possible that the specs of the Chromebook that I'm using aren't all that powerful, so your mileage may vary.
New review: just updated and the app now crashes everytime I try to load a song. Fortunately I had the previous apk backed up so was able to restore it (others should consider doing so as well before updating Zenbeats to 3.0). Unfortunately I didn't back up my previous songs so lost those. I'll give Roland 4 stars again for a prompt response.
I'm learning :) It's quite powerful and I'm hoping it grows and enjoys Roland's long term support, integrating with Roland's outstanding hardware library. It would be a shame if something so nice were abandoned. With Ableton, FL Studio, Reason, and others out there, it would be great if Roland made this their DAW for the next generations of musicians and maintained and developed a software backbone for their fine hardware products. Please Roland, make your toys all play nice with each other!
After updating to version 3 I tried opening the app multiple times, but it will not open. I've forced stop, uninstalled and reinstalled it and it is still not working. Not sure what could be causing this issue, but needless to say I'm disappointed.
Great application. However it's unable to record the sliding effects of pitch bender. The pitch sliding effect can also be made contineous like in guitar instead of, in steps with notes.
The Update on 22nd December fixed the startup issues I was having, Many thanks. In general, it's proven to be a great app to have for quickly sketching out ideas with when all you have available is the phone. Despite a lot of the controls/functionality being fairly self-explanatory and obvious, I'd still suggest that you do need to read the manual/go through the tutorials etc, especially if you're too used to the ways of other DAW software, as I was..
i am getting a serious issue in zenbeats it is regarding the exporting of my audio well it says it is rendering and the loading bar isnt visible and the song never gets exported so i reuest roland to fix this problem 👌
In the last update I had to change the folder which holds the files that I created using the app. Now these files are unaccessible and they are no where to be found. This is unfortunate because it was a five star program before. I hope you can fix this because the folder where the files are housed do not show up during a search of my operating system. I was a huge fan of the program before but now it is useless because I cannot access the files. Please fix this in a future update.
There is no sd card support - all sounds, patterns, downloads, must be on the internal storage, why? Plenty of other apps can be moved or have cache moved to sd card. This is a serious limitation in what is considered a "serious" music app.
Latest update broke Zenbears for Chromebook. I've lost all my songs on my Chromebook when I tried to reinstall. Won't launch at all. Totally useless.
Zero stars! No opengl, no animations, no multi core is the better performance. Just fix the wake lock bug on no opengl as it's the easiest to fix. Opengl and multicore are broken even on desktop, and judging from your reply i doubt it will ever be fixed.

Downloaded this new version today and will not open at all. Continually crashes. Uninstalled and reinstalled and still will not open. Using Samsung Galaxy Note 10.

Doesnt work on chromebooks now which is annoying as all my work was done on it. updated the app and now doesnt open at all
Midi in driver error on every midi controller I connect, both via otg or Bluetooth, despite the fact that every midi controller works with every other midi app that supports midi in. Sadly this app appears broken or simply not finished
Battery drain. Even though I haven't opened this app in weeks it's been using 25% of my battery daily. Great idea for an app that is so poorly designed that it's worthless.
This app is simply brilliant. It's not for the novice, however: download and study closely the PDF user manual provided, follow the videos and tutorials. Buy an unlock pack or a membership. Spend a little money, get a huge music experience in return. Powerful tools for those who want to get into music creation. Kudos to the genius of Roland engineers!
I am editing my review. Sir, I have found the option to put it on slave mode is still there. However, the red outline around the transport bar is gone. Previously a red outline used to appear around the transport bar indicating it is waiting for sync when the record button was pressed as a slave. The UI got definitely better. Thank you.
