Movement controls could be more responsive, but it does kind of add to the challenge when you cant dodge fights easily. Translation could be a bit better in some parts as it does have typos. Non-linear gameplay, tons of abilities and stupidly good music, especially during the mini boss fights. Please squarenix release RS3 now!
controls take some getting used to, but they're nowhere near as bad as the extremely-exaggerated reviews; you control movement pressing anywhere, and are not required to actually press the graphic element to do so. Great to see a full game wirhout iap's and this is why i own almost all of the square enix library on mobile
Gameplay is fine as always, too bad offline support is nonexistent. Also it can be outright brutal at times, thank God I can just restart everytime anyone dies in my party kek. I do like the challenges though.
two stars for bringing back an otherwise completely lost game in english speaking territories. The inconsistent resolutions which kill the retro aesthetic could have been overlooked. The terrible on screen controls could have been overlooked. The weird issues with lag thay cause monsters to be able to move before you can, etc etc all could have been overlooked. However after trying for hours i can now say it is consistent that upon beating Wagnas my game crashes. Squeenix pay your porters better
Glad this game got localized into English. First thing first, the remastered graphics look absolutely great. But, the abysmal controls and UI need to be fixed
Have a love/hate relationship with SaGa games. They can be incredibly intimidating and challenging until you learn/master the unique mechanics, but the payoff is worth it to me, especially if you are a fan of old school jrpgs....but yeah the learning curve on this one is especially tough and not a game you can easily slide through. A lot of the mechanics are not properly explained but there are some great Tips videos on YouTube that helped me a lot!
Meh, story is bland but overall I was looking for a challenge. Random 1-shotting throughout every stage of the game means there's not really anything you can do to preserve your characters. So why bother? I wouldn't call that difficult, just bad mechanics. I don't like how the enemies scale either. It makes levelling up kind of pointless.
Game is absolutely incredible, but the controls are just awful. The game is still playable despite the terrible controls, but it is very hard to avoid enemies, which is sometimes vital to progressing in this game.
Ok. Love the game, but the controls are infuriating. I'm playing now and I just accidentally threw some very valuable consumanble items away because the directional control is difficult. Other than that, it's awesome.
Good luck trying to do literally anything. Menus randomly dont open, go to screens you dont want, select choices you don't want, go back when you try to select something, go forward when you want to back. Want to pause the game? The pause button works once in 75 presses. Want to choose your character name? Sorry, youll be tapping all over the place trying to get the game to let you input literally anything...then youll be tapping everywhere trying to delete the jumble of letters. DONT BUY!
Good game, but horrible controls as per usual with square enix mobile games. I don't even know why I give em a chance anymore. Controls really affect gameplay and make it difficult just to talk to npcs in a town, let alone trying to avoid enemies on the field...
The SaGa series never ceases to amaze me with their excellent gameplay mechanics and fun exploration. I love the Free Scenario system as well, allowing me to play as I see fit. SaGa is one of the JRPG series with the highest replay value. Definitely one of the best JRPG series ever, easily surpassing most of the others.
This game do not buy if you have any appreciation for time, there is a big challenge here but eventually you ask yourself why? It is not fun to repeatedly switch players after investing time in them, they have no backstory and frustrating to level each up only to die easily by an overpowered random enemy in a dungeon which in most cases as tougher than the actual bosses. The gameplay is monotonous and there is nothing to make it worth spending more time, not worth it, buy something fun.
Hilarious to read the pathetic reviews bashing the game. If you expect to play this like another Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest game then you will get filtered HARD after a certain point. Learn the mechanics and think outside the box and you will be rewarded with a unique JRPG like no other. How fun and how much enjoyment you get out of this game depends on how you play. Just don't expect the game to throw you an auto win like all other easy simple games. Have fun and thanks for the port Square!
I'm so happy that I can even play this game now since it's in English and available in the states. I've always been a fan of JRPG's for years and enjoyed Romancing SaGa on the PS2. After purchasing this over a year ago, I decided to start playing it regularly recently. Be advised that you will not be playing as the same group of people throughout the game because it takes place over many generations, like over 1,000 years. I'm getting near the end and so far, I'm getting my money's worth.
Great game. It plays exactly like the original snes game. Touch control is pretty bad, highly recommended using a gamepad instead.
It'd be great if this game did not rely on login credentials upon opening a near $20 game, but at least it only needs verification for 5 seconds or less.
A masterpiece of a game, but cloud save is broken for everyone right now. 5 stars when it's fixed.
Doesnt work. Just downloaded and it doesnt open. Keeps crashing and stopping.
It's great so far but needs a reticule or a pad to show on screen, please add!
Needs bug fixes, game pad support, and Android tv support. Also fix the need to be online to play an offline game.
An eastern classic finally comes to the west. Great SaGa combat, intriguing gameplay mechanics and beautiful world building.
Thie game is awsame and nice to see it still gets updated. Its challeging but with the right time base rpg tactics, it sould be easy. Great game.
Online only DRM makes this game impossible to play when you'd want to play a game. Emulate instead.
Awesome game and series ... Look up play tips before playing seriously challenging but also rewarding...
The best RPG game experience I've had so far with an interesting battle count system and generation gameplay
This is a very difficult game. It was so difficult I did "New Game Plus" in the beginning, and even after that it ragequitted and uninstalled it. But I reinstalled it and ended up beating it. In the beginning I followed guides to the point; later on I used them less as I was actually progressing the story on my own. So I didn't unlock everything or see every scenario. I didn't the craziest characters at the end, but I found a strategy that basically wouldn't let the final boss breathe.
