I am testing with two batteries. One smoke detector and one carbon monoxide detector are located within 10 feet of each other. My initial testing is showing that even when the alarms are located this close, the notifications are coming from the correct alarm. The ability to custom name batteries it's great, because the battery can be used for water alarms, smoke, motion, CO detectors. Need ability to pair to multiple Wi-Fi routers and to notify multiple emails and SMS numbers. Need in Canada!
The latest update now gives false alert. I have it set such that it alerts me if my garage remains open for >10min. After updating it now alerts that my garage is open even though it is closed. It happens randomly, even with no new event. It used to work fine before the app update, for almost 2 years now.
No notifications, what's the point. Just installed new device and app and I don't get notifications for either temp nor relative humidity so what's the point of the app. In addition, I only see weekly chart, but all your other updates on your website show daily so are we losing functionality?
Unreliable. Lots of false alarms from other loud noises picked up by the battery. No firmware updates possible so beware that they might become unusable at any point when Roost decide to change the Roost cloud connection. 2 of mine did after a year. Very expensive plain batteries now.
It needs more customization options when it comes to alerts. I also wish it had ability to integrate with other services such as Google Home, Alexa, or IFTTT. Otherwise works well and does the job it claims to do.
Tried setting up my leak detector countless times over many months. Despite the effort, the device only managed 2 check-ins total. Setup was cumbersome, and the app often redirected to my web browser. Only satisfaction I got was when I took a sledgehammer to it.
The app is ok. Roost itself is getting worse. I use it for garage door position. It will randomly warn me the door is up when it isn't. It wasn't like that before and has been happening more and more. I may have to get rid of this system.
Alerts do not send any notification, neither a text message nor an alert. This has been the case since day one. When I hit 'Test' notification the alert sounds ironically. Once this is fixed I will update my review and rating.
Doesn't work, don't know why. Google Play & Roost website both said it was compatible with my device, so I installed it, but as soon as I try to open/click on icon an error box pops up saying 'Roost has stopped'. Can't do anything with it, so Roost devices a waste of money.
Fixed the problem with no notification after the initial one. Multiple emails describing the problem and details helped them figure it out. Now the app is useful again!
Worked for a week. Haven't been able to get it to connect since.
Can't login. The app used to work, wanted to see if my smoke detectors are fine but when I try to login I get some firebase auth error. It used to work on this device, tried rebooting and reinstalling but nothing helped.
Internet Hog! Don't bother trying to use the internet for anything while these are installed. Between the app and the devices, no one else could hardly use the internet! And we usually have 5 to 10 devices using internet at any given time, so our internet is not the problem.
This app can be used only if you provide your or in the case of installing on a tablet, someone else's, cell phone number. There's absolutely no legitimate business reason why you have to give a phone number to register the app. An email address should suffice. It just a scam to harvest phone numbers and should be illegal. Companies like this have been emboldened to intrude on our privacy since people share their personal information willy-nilly.
woah... would you believe it? My Roost Garage Sensor is still working. I removed the app after getting new garage opener with the MyQ Chamberlain wi-fi. Now, we're having problem with that wi-fi connection on the garage opener. I though "why not see if this Roost sensor is still working?" Voila... install the app and the garage sensor is still working. Way to go, Roost!
Being one of the user and a beliver in this product since launch on Kickstarter back on 2015. After 3 years of use, I can conclude thet this product is over-advertised, as not performing as described: -battery lasts 3 and not 5 years , -when adding a battery app took ages to sincronize with the cloud therefore failures expected and restarting process from scratch, - recently no more support for EU or rest of the world, as product is acredited now only for USA and Canada! One of the most disapointed experience, was that recently my teenage daugther forget meal in own, kitchen completly in smoke, and NO alert sounded!
Terrible for connecting to phone. I have smart devices all over. This is the only device that has issues finishing.
The water sensor can't connect to my wifi and it ain't a signal issue. Garbage app and device.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! The product disconnects and requires you to go back through the entire setup process again. The return process is terrible and requires a fight.
App is great. For install use the "sound" setup if available, it's a snap. Recommend Roost change the install process to use that method first.
30mb seems quite a lot given the limited scope of this app. (I don't have a problem with the app, but have to wonder why it's so large)
Three out the four batteries have failed in just over two years. I will not be investing in more.
Was fine at first but now keeps alerting me of a leak. Very poorly designed.
Every time I try to set up my device, the app crashes. Absolutely useless.
