The app does not work as smoothly as it did before the update on May 16. Since then my messages to my clients don't go through . It takes me multiple times typing the same reply to a client before the message is sent. I have logged off, deleted and reinstalled the app and nothing has worked. Makes it difficult to talk to the pet owners and potential clients in a timely manner
Experience was fairly well on the app. However they just updated it again and it's terrible. Now your bookings and messages for the bookings are in 2 different places. This makes zero sense. No matter how many times I reload the app, restart my phone, the app will no longer load my messages. Says it's an internet issue, never had problems with that before 🙄 so I have to go to bookings, click on the booking I need, then click go to messages for this booking. It's an unnecessary update.
Good customer base, terrible app. Rover takes a whopping 20% from sitters. For a new sitter, it is necessary to undercharge in order to be competitive. It's a fine side hustle, but often the app is buggy. I frequently have to restart my phone in order to get Rover cards to open, and the cards are a battery drain. Just recently I have had several important messages I sent my client not go through to them, and I'm very frustrated about it. I'm also unable to edit request dates properly.
App is not intuitive at all, why can't I see a calendar of all my booked times? I can see them in upcoming, but not as everything that's happening any further out than day of. Wishlist items Would love to export my walks into my calendar. Visits to actually end when I click end instead of arbitrarily ending eventually. Calendar of visits scheduled instead of just day of. I'm sure there's more. It's a frustrating app to navigate thru
I have been a pet sitter for a few years now and like most features. However lately it has been having issues showing I'm still in the visit when I finished, or that the visit is still in progress. I've had to uninstall, close, reopen reinstall the app and still has issues. What's difficult also is the 20% cut hurts especially now with prices raising for everything.
They take a giant chunk of the money from sitters and customers. It does a decent job connecting you to a market of people but you can also advertise pretty well by hanging up flyers yourself and taking payments directly. The last stay they took more than 2 nights worth of the payment for their fees. If they are collecting fees from the customer there is no need to take a big chunk from sitters. They app itself is buggy. Always find another line of communication outside the app for backup.
I've had good experiences with Rover previously, but having just had my first truly horrific experience, I can't say I'm pleased with the level of support I received. I contacted them because my motion detectors hadn't gone off in several days, and while my sitter always said she was "going to stop by" around a certain time, she'd only used the check in feature in app once. My friends dropped in to find food/water dishes nearly empty, litter boxes full, and my front door unlocked. So frustrated
Garbage app, decent service. I'm rating one star because the app is pretty terrible. You can't even leave feedback when it asks if you like the app and would like to leave feedback. It freezes regularly, multiple walkers have stated that the app will not work on occasion so I get weird walk times, the profile picture interface is bad. The app sometimes won't let you hit "back" when you're in the middle of a booking. Minimal effort was put into making this app mostly functional.
Its a great app and has certainly helped us when we needed it. There is definitely more work needed though. For example, when we had a terrible experience with one of the sitters, she cancelled the appointment but we were not able to leave a review on the site to warn others. Also when the same sitter put up terrible photos, we could not remove them off our pets profile page, instead we had to raise a ticket to Rover's customer service team to have it taken down. Compensation is also very poor.
Kinda underwhelming for a 20% cut of your earnings. The app feels very 2010. Could use more features and be better organized. The suggested rates for services are well below what they should be. Also, if the person decides not to book you have to manually go cancel the request that they have already deleted. Not being about to export to calendar is a huge piece that is missing. If they aren't going to take it seriously then cut the rate to 5% of a booking.
River is such a convenient, reliable way to have your pets cares for when you don't have friends/family in close proximity. They seem to do a good job of vetting sitters (we've only ever gotten really solid people) and the rating system makes it easy for weary people like us to find sitters that we feel comfortable letting into our home unattended. I recommend it all the time to my friends and family.
In the last 3 months I have had to uninstall and reinstall this app in order to: access bookings that wouldn't let me click on the button to start/open a walk, and now appointments start on their own without me touching the button, or sometimes retroactively for up to 16 hours. Stunningly awful programming for such consistent and recent glitches. 💯 % definitely considering off-rover work because of the unreliability of this app.
Horrible app, as a Rover sitter it cost me time and money. It glitches and loses all the pictures I've taken during a stay on a Rover card often, it freezes and takes forever to load or work even when I'm on Wi-Fi, and that's just a few. I usually have to redo all the bookings and modifications because the majority of my clients also have issues using it. If you want everything to be run off of your app in the field, please make it work and efficiently.
I've noticed that the 4 and 5 star reviews are from customers rather than sitters. I've read similar negative experiences from people who use this app to book jobs, despite updates. I've had to reinstall this app to stop a "visit" after I had been GPS tracked for several hours. The layout is illogical (why are past customers listed on the "help" page menu) and the link to leave feedback takes you to the "help" page, which isn't even particularly helpful. I find the app frustrating.
As an active sitter, I don't have many complaints. I have recently started the search for a sitter for my own pet and that is a completely different story. I added certain filters and they don't seem to be acknowledged as I am being suggested people that don't meet those requirements. I also think that the client should have the option to be able to archive requests just like the sitter can do. It is very frustrating to see how difficult the initial search for an available sitter is.
I used to give this app 5 stars. However with the latest update it's not working right. The notification that I have a visit in progress never goes away. A few times after the visit was completed and sent, the next time I open the app the visits still show as open. I have to end it again and hit send again. It has frozen on me, crashed repeatedly and this last time it started uploading photos from my phone that were not selected. I even tried deleting and reinstalling. Please fix asap!
Fantastic well done app. Very user friendly and easy to navigate overall. I have used this in two respects. The first being I was looking for providers. The second is that I have become a provider through the years. Both positions are done good. There are some quirky things that I wish could be obtained like being on a computer but I think it's done great.
It would be nice if I had complete control over my sitter profile preferences, like ages and activity level of the dogs that I can take care of, not only the pounds of the dogs. This is more than reasonable. Their app doesn't give me ANY control over my business as an independent contractor for them. Lastly, I should be able to see a client's address, not just them seeing mine.
I think this is a very professional app compared to others out there. As someone who cares for dogs in my home I feel I can put a good profile on the site/app for pet parents to understand where their pet will stay and be cared for. I believe the app could be improved by improving the search function to only show the service you require. I think vaccination/insurance info should be added to pet info as well as vet info on booking.
I love this app as it has made my life much easier to care for my dog. The app interface could be easier to use and has some limitations as to if you want to book a drop in feeding and just have him being taken for a walk. You can't seem to mix them in the same booking. The interface took a little bit getting used to, but I got the hang of it. Particularly the inbox messages and when first booking.
Pretty sure this is a scam. They require you to spend $35 on the background check (which is fine) but then inorder to get on their list to be featured you have to continually update your calendar. This function is supposed to be good for 2 weeks but it will, with no regularity rest so your calendar is no longer up to date. Additionally, they allow users to request services from multiple people and do not enforce following through with the customer.
Updating my review. So why don't photos stick when using Rover cards? I'll upload 3, 4, 5 photos and then when I go to finish or write something the photos are not there any longer. Sometime it will copy a photo 2 to 4 times. Annoying and wastes my time. App is so slow. Many times I can't start a drop in and have to message the client's direct number if I have it, letting them know I've arrived. It stays on home page without showing the days appointments. Very, very, very aggravating.
Im a sitter on rover and I absolutely love this app. Its so easy communicating with clients, and I love the apps layout and all the options. I would TOTALLY rate it 5 stars if it also put my bookings on my calandar. Im a visual person, and my months get pretty busy, so seeing everything layed out would make my life so much easier amd avoid double booking.
05/06/22- downloaded app, searched local sitters/walkers. Found 3 and they responded the next day. First one has a full time job in NYC, unable. Second one cannot sit large breed because she has a dog of her own (then why mention that you can), third unable because she is moving. Why offer if you cannot offer your services. In addition, the app search criteria is horrible, I asked for local and it gives me 10 miles+ away. By definition that is not local. Very disappointed.
It's really hard to find someone in this app. Either they're inactive profiles that should be removed from the search results, the availability calendar isn't properly updated, they show up when they don't service the area I'm in, or they just don't respond for whatever reason. With rates and fees as high as they are, Rover should do a better job of vetting people and keeping the inactive ones out of results. Pre-booking meets should be MANDATORY, esp for house sitting.
Love it so far! One thing I wish is that there is an option to choose exact times we sitters are available. It gives a time range for availability so if I'm not available from 3-10pm, or only from available from 6-10 I can't choose that I'm available that "evening" OR I have to deny clients, which is not something i ever want to do. Also, here in AZ it might be helpful to choose later times since it's so hot during the day going into the summer months.
The concept is good and, when I can find a sitter, it's great! The problem is that the availability thing doesn't work very well. The app will let me send a request to someone for the morning who is available only in afternoons. It would be so much easier for me to find someone if matches by available time windows was a thing
