RP3 Rowing

RP3 ErgData is a free application designed for the RP3 Rowing Ergo meter to run on newer Android devices. Once connected, it provides an advanced training tool that any rower or paddler can use to get real-time stroke rate, speed, distance, heart rate and other data. The big advantage is the real time Force Curve, which gives you a detailed feedback over your rowing stroke. Every stroke of every workout is recorded and saved for later review. Additional it can upload your workouts to the RP3 Rowing Online Logbook (in a future version). You can build your own workout scheme based on time, distance, strokes and heart rate.Furthermore the data can be adjusted for boat type and weight to get the right output, which can be compared with the boat you are rowing. This data is accurate within 0,5% to the times on water. With every stroke you have a choice out of 20 different data features to display. Just tap a tile and you will get a list of all the possible data, select the data you want and it will be displayed. In this way you can build your own screen. The workout setting is easily done by adding the different training goals you like to go for. Set a number and hit the ‘+’ button and it will be added in the workout scheme. When you start rowing the programmed workout will be shown in the top of the screen and a pacer and a countdown will tell you how much to do. Enjoy all future upgrades.

This has the Makings of a useful training tool but the user interface is cryptic. Publishing instructions that are complete for the most recent release would be helpful. Somehow when I installed the app it let me set user weight and boat type then would not let me change it. I signed up for an account and can change weight but not boat type.

Great improvements with the newest update! The new UI is still a great change, and most every good function from the old app is back now. A persisting issue is that split and meters still do not align with watts--the old app followed the C2 watts:split conversion (the rowing standard, for better or worse) & I find that my pieces are 1-2 splits faster than they should be. This bug makes it impossible to compare test pieces with old results. I also cannot locate the boat type setting. Great work!

The newest version of the app is pretty bad. I can't get consistent watt-to-split conversions within even a single session.

Three things this new version of the app needs: 1. The ability to delete past workouts and preset workouts from both the web portal and the app. (A bit weird that you can't do that yet.) 2. The boat type adjustment for splits has disappeared. This was a good thing. It would be great to have it back. 3. Allowing the user to adjust defaults for the display during workouts (e.g., HR instead of energy for all new workouts). The rest seems to work well (including syncing to the web). Integration with strava works but isn't automatic (for each training session you need to manually sync). It would also be good to record intervals as intervals on strava, rather than just a continuous workout (though this may be more difficult given strava limitations). Thanks! Andrea

The new layout is great and the information on the screen is adaptable. Thanks for the update. In the history section, when looking at results, can the distance readout be changed from kilometers to meters? Thanks Vic

Cannot delete history. Will not email session with a server error 500 please try again later message. Newer is not always better.

Works really well during a session and has a great UI but has some issues that desperately need fixing! One of the biggest is it often deletes workouts immediately after finishing which is very frustrating! Also it would be nice if there was some support for converting RP3 workout files to Garmin FIT files or even a way of connecting a Garmin device. Also as a fellow developer whats with the closed source? It would be awesome if you made a Github repo so people can contribute and the app is worthless without the machine anyway so it's not like you need to worry about copyright?

Won't connect to my Polar HR strap even though the RP3 Race app easily and automatically connects. Always buggy. And why is there not an option to pause a workout?

The software for the RP3 is outstanding. I hope they update the way you log your meters. Todays log format came thru a little different so I guess they are working on it. Great machine Great software. Thanks SG I'm updating my previous review. The new dashboard works great. Uploads seamlessly however the Strava link sends all data wrong. Not sure if its a strava thing or RP3. Anyway great job on the upgrades.

Great app, but workouts are not automatically saved to the web dashboard, even when saving to the Cloud directly from the app...did I miss something ?

When will there be a version for Apple users? I like the way the information is presented and I really like the RP3, but if our club is to purchase any of these ergs, there will need to be usability across all popular systems... The kids are there to compete.

This app does not seem to connect to a OnePlus 5T running Android 8.1.0

The app works fine. However, I cannot delete workouts and memory. Some presents workouts are really weird and cannot be deleted. Please improve quickly. It would be also nice to adjust the scale of the graphs. Not everyone does 800N

Worked okay first time. Came to log in again. Password and username do not work. No way to reset. Notice from reviews that I am not the only one to experience this. Please sort this out developers

The core functionality is good and working well. Its the best way to display and get data from rowing ergometers that I know of. However, there are several annoying issues with this app. For example: *If not logged in, you can create training plans but you cannot delete them. Attempts to delete give the deletion animation but the plan just reappears in the list. If you are logged in, deleting plans does work. *If you try to create a login but do leave empty the fields for body weight or height you will get an error message that the username or email is already taken while it is not. Confusing. *Currently, the app is asking me to change my password after every login. When I try to do so, it says that it failed because there is no internet connection. Well, there is. *This last point is probably hardware related: I have to switch off all power saving options on my tablet and put it into performance mode otherwise the app will lose connection to the RP3S ergometer after approximately one minute. I'm using an Asus ZenPad pro 8 z380m, android 7.0, connected via the USB to go cable that came with my RP3S. *Maybe I've missed it but I cannot remember seeing an EULA when I stalling the app. What happens to my personal data and rowing data linked to my account? Where is it stored? Who owns it? Is there a way to access it other than with the app?

Ste. L. Aug 22, 2017

It's a great app, but resetting the password doesn't work so I'm currently unable to access it at all. Please fix this!

Kri. J. May 12, 2017

This worked great - when I could use it. Logged out of the app and can't log in because the password reset requires me to remember my username. I can't. And I can't create a new account because, of course, my email is already associated with and user - me.

Was very excited that this was able to be loaded onto my andriod samsung galaxy s4. But I cant log in, the reset password doesnt work. The password i get from the emails dont work.
