PreparationTo use the RS-MS1A with a supported transceiver, you need an internal Bluetooth unit or the OPC-2350LU data cable. See your transceiver’s instruction manual for details.

Note:
- The RS-MS1A may not work with all Android devices, even if it is one of the tested devices. This is because an application program on your device may conflict with the RS-MS1A.
- You may need to install additional file managing and image processing software.
- Your Android device must be USB host function compatible to communicate with your transceiver through the OPC-2350LU cable. Even if your device is USB host function compatible, the RS-MS1A may not function properly.
- You may need to connect to the Internet through a Wireless LAN, a 3G network or an LTE network for some functions.
- The RS-MS1A supports only portrait orientation. It does not support Auto Rotate.
- Remove the data cable when the Android device is not used to reduce the devices power consumption
- The RS-MS1A program may lock up when transmitting some high-quality or large size image files, or continuously operated for a long time. In that case, restart the program.
- Depending on the Android device, the power supplied to the USB terminal may be stopped while in the display sleep mode or power saving mode. In that case, remove the “Screen timeout” check mark on the Application Setting screen of the RS-MS1A.
- When you transmit an image file with the baud rate set at 4800bps, some of that data may be lost. In that case, set the baud rate to over 9600bps.

After hours of trying to get it to work. Found a single comment on another website about the ISB-C to standard USB adapter that comes with you phone. This dose work! Even after this adapter the app is absolute junk. Will not connect to the radio reliability and requires hours of trouble shooting every time. This may be my last ICOM radio.

Can't get it to work on my IC-9700. Consistently reports that USB cable is not connected. Would help if ICOM provided some simple set up assistance for the different radios instead of leaving you to guess...

Works fine on Bluetooth with my 5100A but will not connect with my ID-52A where I really need it. Incidentally, VS-3 headset pairs easily with the 52, so the 52 is not the problem.

Does what it is supposed to do. It would have been good if the audio was also played on the Android device. Note that this app works in Android 11

Would like to see a DR scan feature added.

I really do not expect Icom to even read any of these reviews but..... It would be nice if to be able to sort repeater list by different options like GPS distance. Also, screen orientation should be selectable. I wouldn't mind paying a few dollars for an app that is little more full featured. But I guess I expect a bit too much from Icom....

There is support for the TH-D74, but doesn't support alot of the radio's capability.

Nearly impossible to get it to connect to id-51. This app hasn't been updated in nearly a year?...come on! This app is a total waste of time unless you have an engineering degree.

I connected this app to my 51a Plus I changed some settings and it works perfectly. It's not the most useful app ever seen but it does work I am using a samsung tab e 7 inch tablet with 4.4 Kitkat operating system if you look at other comments for this app you will see the radio settings you need to change there are just a few and it's very simple

I have been unable to get this application operating with my Icom ID-51A Plus radio. When I connect my RS-MS1A cable with my Samsung S2 and try to run the application I get the following start up error message: "Error Failed to communicate with the transceiver. Check the transceiver or application settings." I see from various comments on Youtube that I am not the only one with this problem. So far I am out $80 for a cable that doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? UPDATE: I finally got the damn thing working. You have to follow the instructions in the ADVANCED PDF manual (not the small paper manual that you got in the box with the radio). Your radio's CD has the advanced manual on it or you can download it from Icom. What you have to do is go to section 16 in the advanced manual and follow the instructions for turning the data jack on. See page 16-76 of the advanced manual. Follow those instructions and it will work just fine. It's really ridiculous that this information wasn't included with my RS-MS1A cable. It would have saved me a lot of time and aggravation. I'm docking it one star for this "oversight."
