The Android app has a bug. Changes made don't always take effect but app still shows them. For example, if you turn heating off and the message doesn't get through to the boiler, then the app shows heating as off even though it is still on. To workaround this I: 1. Make a change in the app 2. Wait about 30 seconds 3. Close the app and reopen it again 4. If the change hasn't happened I repeat from 1 again until it works This just wastes my time. The app needs to show proper feedback to user.
If your plumber has suggested a heating controller that requires this app DON'T! Unfortunately I couldn't give it less than one star. Useless. The app has just turned the heating off while the house is still cold for no apparent reason. Also, it would be good to be able to override the schedule for e.g. an hour and then it go back to the programme. From the lack of response to my original review I guess either the developers are overwhelmed with poor reviews or they don't care.
Rubbish app. The whole system is rubbish. Constantly have to re-pair. The app usually takes a few tries before the schedule actually changes. Such a frustrating piece of equipment. Had I been able to research and pick my own app (gas installer set it all up) I would never have picked this one. Steer clear!
It is a pity that zero stars is impossible. This app worked perfectly for several months and the stopped for mo apparent reason. We have to on several phones and it stopped working on any of them. We tried rebooting and reinstallatiom all to no avail. The sheer lack of reliability makes it redundent. I will be installing a new device but rest assured it will NOT be Altech.
unreliable app or the thermostat itslef. turns off for no reason. constantly have to check if the heat is still on. Salus support says everything is fine, but there aren't any actual logs or event registry they can check. even more, they have remore access to the internet module, which i'm pretty sure sounds link a backdoor to my home network. low quality app for a 100 Euro price tag...
This app is frustrating to the point it mitigates it's usefulness. It never works first time, even when I'm controlling whilst on the same WiFi as the receiver. I have to open and close it multiple times before it will action the request. Spend a bit more money and get a Hive.
Got a new boiler in October and guy installed this thermostat and app. It worked brilliantly until about a month ago. Now, it has completely crashed. Have reinstalled it several times. App just is not working. It looks like I am not the only customer experiencing these difficulties.
Relying on an electric heater via a remote switch plug socket to keep me and baby warm this winter while the app refuses to do anything and I can therefore either have the heating off all night or on all night. It's ridiculous that I can't set timers on the heating without an app but absolutely shocking that the app then doesn't bloody work! God knows how the elderly get on with this rubbish. Honestly guys sort it out. End of November is probably not the best time for an update that crashes everyone's heating really is it. Awful.
I need help! It doesn't let me do any settings whatsoever. Since registering the circle button on the top right is greyed out when it is meant to have a green dot in the middle? I tried closing the app down completely and restarting, installed on a different phone too but no difference. So boiler can only be turned on and off manually.
When I first had the sallus installed all was fine I was disappointed that I couldn't schedule and control the hot water from here like I could with my old 1980s controller for water and heat. First disappointment but now I can't use the app to set times etc or anything Tried uninstalling tried reregistering tried contacting support but got this message back "Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances our Email Technical Support Services are temporarily unavailable." Not what they sold eh
Appalling app. No switch to select between manual and schedule so not clear which is working. Interface is ugly. No confirmation of connection to 'stat. When you update a value there is no confirm button. Sometimes it will be off when the temp is 2-3° below desired. No idea why. Do not buy this thermostat.
UPDATE: Contacted support - new firmware is available but not thru the app. Updated remotely. All features available and working as aspected. Device firmware: 11.5 + 1.5.2.0 .............................................................................. Stuck with older firmware . No update available therefore no schedule, no temperature offset, no calibration. Most features advertised are missing. Android app version: 2.1.1 136 Device firmware version: 10.7 + 1.5.1.8
Rubbish. Won't update. Unreliable, waste of money. Looked down all the reviews salus haven't answered anyone's concerns. It comes on when it's turned off and sometimes doesn't work at all. And also have to log on every time I use it.
So far so good, but took ages to work out how to get the thermostat to pair with the receiver. Would be very handy if the app allowed you to swipe between thermostats rather than having to keep going into the menu.
I had a new boiler installed at the end of the summer. It now the 2nd of November and the app has completely stopped working. I have had a few instances where it would not register me turning the boiler on via this app. Now nothing will work. Not a happy customer.
I does not work properly! It does not connect or if it does it is too slow to connect.... Login is required every time. Histerisys below 2.5 does not exist on settings. Please fix it... It wasn't that bad before the update even if it has problems
No stars. Awful. App is obligatory to schedule heating and isn't responsive. And frequently drains my phone battery. This so called smart thermostat was recommended and installed recently by a gas engineer on a new system. Can't wait to get this app off my phone when I have this thermostat replaced with a different brand.
System failed after less than 3 years. Spent 6 weeks trying to get help from their tech support and being simply ignored. Gave up and replaced it with a system from another brand in the end. Suspect a bad firmware update bricked it and left me without heat. Others complain of similar experiences on FB. Dreadful company and products.
It is very buggy, switching between manual and schedule is a pain, as you are never able to do it in one click, you have to switch between them several times in order to activate them.
It would be great to have Google and Alexa control possibility. The distance alert is pointless why would I want to know how far from home I'm? It would be more useful to trigger an action when coming back hom, maybe start heating when in certain proximity.
It's not working!!!! My builder installed this device to my boiler said I can download the app to manage the boiler's on/off time, temp...etc. So I downloaded the app and added the device into the app, BUT it's simply just NOT WORKING!!! The device cannot be activated, i.e. to show the green dot on the top right cornor, it's completly useless and wasting my time and money!!!
Another 2020 disaster! When I installed a whole new system in the house 2 years ago, this app worked...ish... but it was never quite right. The timings set in the schedule don't actually match the times the boiler actually turns on and off, its supposed to be 'smart' and the house should be that actual temperature at that specified time. Well, thats the idea anyway! I've had enough and have just bought Hive. To be installed ASAP! Bye bye salus. Its not been a satisfactory union....
Keeps wanting to update firmware but then won't actually do it, preventing me from accessing the bloody temperature controls. Now the thermostat doesn't work! Load of rubbish. All was fine before I started using this ap.
When I try to adjust the starting hour and change the hour from 12 to 11 it jumps back to 12 and when I change from INDIVIDUAL to ALL in the menu it erases all the hours and temperatures from the days I had set in INDIVIDUALS. Please fix these bugs
This used to work fine, but now I'm unable to configure my device either from my android phone or my partners iPhone. So now I'm left with a thermostat that can't be controlled, great. Just spend the extra and buy a nest or something else. This is literally useless.
For some reason in scheduled mode it does not switch the heating on in the morning, the flame icon blinks on the thermostat ( the temps is also well below the target) but that's it, eventually it will come on but much later than the programed time. No issues in manual mode, but in essence that's only 1 set-point. P.s. Seems to be fixed with the option to turn off the 'optimised start' in settings.
