The app does not work well if your from the US/Canada You need to use PayPal, I also experienced an issue where it wouldn't work until I used a credit card through PayPal instead of directly from my checking account. Still a very convenient app, but they should try to get foreign credit cards working But the biggest issue is that it doesn't tell you why it doesn't work, it wasn't until I read the reviews I realized the issue wasn't with the card itself
Good app for tickets for 1 person except you will need to get paypal if you are not from a scandanavian country (which isnt that hard to complete in about 2 mins but annoying why visa or google pay is accepted like other scandanavian transport apps we used). Complicated if you want to buy a ticket for someone else and dont live in Scandanavia - was too hard for me to figure out!
I've used the app in '18 and it worked fine. From '19 they changed the app, making it more difficult for ticket purchase. It has become impossible to buy a ticket unless your credit card (mine was Visa electron) has been issued in limited number of european countries.Staff weren't much helpfull. Save your time and energy and go buy the ticket in near kiosk (if you 're at the airport). I've expected more from public transportation system.
bad, after it was updated. It was a good and comfortabke app, but after u guys updated it it works awfull! It shows the wrong schedule, for example tram #13 left 2 min earlier than it was shown by the app. And it happened thrice. It also shows different schedule of one and the same day depending on when u check it.
This was the Worst paying app I've ever used, or at least tried to use.. It does not accept foreign credit cards! I tried to use it more than 10 times with 3 different cc and it did not work! Public transportation in Norway is super expensive and when you need to fight in order to buy ticket, it's just don't worth it.. Bergen is much nicer and actually has a working app, you should go there and not Oslo.
Addendum: I followed someone's advice in another review and got myself a TransferWise debit card: it works! TransferWise sent the card to me at my Norway address in about one week. This won't help if you just got to Oslo, but it's a lifesaver for me. If you're a visitor to Oslo, know this: you can't use this app unless you are Scandinavian. Also, you cannot use cash. Instead, you'll have to buy a Ruter card at local stores and remember to keep it replenished (when they're open, so don't go wandering the city in the evening or on a Sunday). When you board a bus or train, you'll tap the card to the reader, and half of the time, it will not work. Then you'll have to explain to a controller that you did in fact tap the card, they won't believe you, and they'll give you a ticket. The best part is that you can pay the fine right on the bus or tram and THEY WILL GLADLY TAKE ANY FOREIGN CREDIT CARD! Note: I read the replies from Ruter. Four years ago, they still allowed foreign credit cards. This notion that they're "adding" forms of payment is not true. They're returning a feature that was already in place before. I have heard them promise that they will allow foreign cards again, and four years later, they still haven't. The good news is: Oslo is a wonderfully walkable city. Also, the Oslo bike share system takes foreign credit cards!
I have entered the train in a hurry in the morning and bought a ticket using this app, soon after there was a ticket check up. In the time of ticket checking, I had a valid ticket, but I was still fined after hearing some nonsense in local language. It made no sense to me and bad experience. Whats the point of using the app if I had to purchase the ticket way earlier? ://
Unusable. It won't accept an Australian Visa card, and I because I am travelling with a European SIM card, I can't receive the verification SMS when trying to pay with PayPal. It looks like you can also only book a single ticket per app anyway, so not helpful if travelling in a group.
App was looking promising, but everything failed on registration of my credit card for purchasing tickets. I tried both VISA and MasterCard / EuroCard from Bank in Slovakia but both failed which was quite disappointing following my positive experience with similar app in Bergen where everything was working smoothly. Feedback from the support team was useless as it arrived after leaving Oslo.
As a Canadian who's been to Oslo six times in the last year and a bit, this app is completely useless to me. Not only can I not use my credit cards, but I can't use the feature where someone sends me a ticket since I don't have a Norwegian phone number. What a complete waste of my time.
Why did you have to remove supplementary tickets purchase? I use physical travel card and now have no option to buy an extension ticket. The phone can scan my physical card, so why can't you allow supplementary tickets when a valid physical card is scanned or registered in the app? Why removing the option completely and making life more difficult for the users? 👎
I have used this rarely . Last what happens is wanted to buy a monthly pass and they take from my account price for 3 !!!!! I call the customer service 2 time in between with a 2 weeks and they send money only for 1 monthly pass but , they must send the price for 2 bcoz 1 is in use and the rest 2 they should send money back . After 2 weeks i still have in my account only price for 1 pass !!!! i report them to the police . Take care people they still your money and invoke is the network and whatever else .
Super super SUPER annoying that you cannot use US or Canadian credit cards. I hate using PayPal but it was the only method of using app in Oslo. At the very least they need to make it work with Google Pay. Delete, goodbye and good riddance.
The newest update came with a bug that don't allow me to open the app, I re-installed it, put the app ID to restore my ticket and just came a message that says "an error has occurred".
Has arbitrary restrictions on the credit/debit card country and doesn't indicate this anywhere. Just fails with "transaction failed". I wouldn't be angry if it just told you what types of card are accepted instead of giving a misleading error message.
Worst app I have ever used. Doesn't accept my visa and master with error appears. Foreigner are not welcome to this city. So I go to Tromso and foreigners are welcome there. Never go to Oslo anymore.
Useful when visiting Oslo from the UK. Very easy to use. Also saves you having to buy multiple tickets by using 24 hr or 7 day options. Can also use from airport - if you have 24 hour zone 1 ticket then you can just buy the portion from Zone 2 to 4N. Saved me 30Kn
Could not register my Visa card with the app, continually got 'transaction denied, try again' had to pay with cash, which was more expensive, and not exact, so it cost me more.
Why can't I buy extra zones when I have a plastic card? It makes no sense to me that you can't do that. How do you want me to buy extra zones? Do I have to pay for the extra zones on the bus or train were I have to pay extra? What kind of service is this? I don't trust cell phones when it comes to digital tickets. I even work in a telecom company
Why new update allows buying extra zone only if period pass from Mobile ? I prefer my pass physical as often mobile is discharged. Bit period ticket extra zone is rare like airport. It was very helpful to buy extra zone while in hurry on app.
I tried two different Danish cards and the app didn't accept them. Plus, the customer service centre won't answer. And why remove the ticket machines if the app doesn't work?
It doesn't work, it keeps saying that I don't have internet connection while I can use 2 different networks and WiFi. How solve it?
The payments don't go through. Tried two different cards, from two different banks (both MasterCard). Same error (Transaction failed, please try again).
I cannot add a new payment method. I unistalled and reinstalled the app but the issue is not fixed. This is really unacceptable!
Just says transaction failed every time I tried to pay. Had to read reviews to find out why. Maybe let the user know ahead of time because this made things very difficult for me.
Very useful, works with PayPal,sends receipt directly to your email, what else ? Came for two days, been able to travel very easily, thanks !
The app does not accept my credit and debit cards. Both of them are working in Norway but not with this app. It is just useless for me.
Really easy and handy way to buy tickets. I wish we had similar apps in other countries as well.
It needs a widget for departure times for your selected stops. So many years and still don't have such simple yet usefully functionality. Instead of opening the app and getting lost in the menu it should be accessible from the home screen. I remember having a widget providing this from an unofficial developer over 10 years ago! Their priorities is obviously wrong as they keep raising prices but never improve the customer experience. The busses is always so dirty I'm close to vomiting evrytim 🤢
