Not a fan of this app. RV Trip Wizard is a decent setup on a PC for mapping out a safe route and looking up park information but the app is pure garbage. The map it uses contains minimal data to help me keep track. The last two trips I took the entrance location to the park was incorrect. However it still helps keep me from getting into restriction trouble so I'll give it that extra star but other than that it's a 1 star app.
This app was one of the reasons to pay for the RV Life suite. It is a major disappointment. No Android Auto. The iOS app does support Carplay though so we use my wife's iPhone. The app crashes. All. The. Time. Everytime it has to "recalculate" the route, it'll say"recalculating" and then crashes out. We can't even get it to start navigating if we're not already on a highway because it'll just constantly crash until we get on a steady road. Sometimes it'll crash repeatedly when opening. Junk.
We love using RVLife to plan our trips. We do find we have to zoom in and review the route very carefully as sometimes it has us do couple of u-turns when we only need to go straight. We also find the GPS doesn't always show the correct information as to the next turn. For instance...the banner on the top of the screen will say Exit on 3 miles but our next exit is in 91 miles. We get frustrated and go by written directions or map it out in Google Maps from the RV Life trip planned.
I've been using this app for years. Over the years the GPS mapping has improved. But over the last year the GPS mapping is getting to the point it's unusable. Too many bugs are rearing their ugly heads. I can no longer recommend this product and highly recommend people quit using it.
horrible app. just trying to setup a simple trip. create new trip. adds one stop (if you're lucky) and then throws you out (I think). won't let you research simple info about the cost of an RV park. I'll just manually plan it myself, it would be easier and less frustrating.
Only reason I purchased this is for the GPS to keep me out of danger and give accurate directions with good navigational guidance. I have to revert to other apps because it gives me incorrect data. Top and bottom headers which show distance and road name to next turn, total miles to destination, and estimated time of arrival are all incorrect. This is dangerous when in a congested, busy road in a large city. No time to make necessary lane changes. I emailed support Sue said programmers aware.
Horrible Navigation! I like the planning portion of the app and was looking forward to using it. I planned a couple of simple trips, but the navigation is rudimentary and position on the map lags behind your actual position. Sent me on a route that was 43 minutes, when Google maps route was 20 minutes and was very RV safe... tried another same thing sent me on some weird routing when I know exactly how to go via Google maps.... im not even going to try until you get this right.
Great trip planning tool, makes it very easy to find a Campground along the way. I can setup my trip on my iPad and then view and navigate from my Android phone as well as download all the maps you'll need on the trip when you lose cell signal.
waste of money . the off line thing is useless . any thing the app sort of does you can get on Google map that works better . this app adds more stress when traveling than there already is . I would ask for my money back but for some reason they don't respond to anything negative.
was working well for a year. early April 2022, gps stopped accurately giving directions to next turn and total distance to be traveled stopped counting down. tough to troubleshoot because only happens while driving and they ONLY provide email support. hopefully it's just a bug with the April 12, 2022 release.
App no longer works. "Error getting refresh token" error when trying to check in or run a speed test. Also won't display reviews. Very disappointing because the app used to work well. Possibly stopped working after the update on 4/22/2022.
After initial issues more than a year and a half ago, things are running smooth. Mostly. Drop support a line of you have persistent issues. Not that I personal had any for a long time. RV Life with trip wizard has become my go-to trip planning app. Navigation is up on my 10 inch tablet. I still have Google maps running parallel on my cell phone. Traffic conditions leave a little to be desired. It now takes a long time to start up. That needs to get better.
Thought to review the updated appz since the older app was very buggy. No difference in new one - non stop crashing. Go to maps, enable FILTER. Click on filter to disable - crash. Asks for permission each time on open. Thousands missing RV parks on map view. I really want to be able to use it as one place to go, but it is unusable, unfortunately.
Becoming less valuable. RV GPS is questionable. Loads really slowly. Often have to launch and wait several minutes to complete the process only to find a blank white screen. My workaround is to exit the app and re launch. Surely debugging and enhancing the user experience can't be rocket science. C'mon guys, you can do better than this!
It's been worse since the update. Made us do an unnecessary uturn, and the top banner doesn't give accurate miles to the next turn. Very unhappy with the GPS. The Planner however works great.
It just didn't work, figuring out how to create a trip is not an easy task, I'm still not sure I did it correctly. I told it to avoid tolls and it took me up I95 that had a toll between Baltimore and PHL. I exported the trip to Google and Google changed the route, but at least Google skipped the tolls. This app would be better if it just marked/highlighted bridges and tunnels my rig is too big for and let me build my trip around those obstacles.
If you are looking to get the RV trip wizard within this app, that is not the case. You will need to purchase a subscription to the RV trip wizard once you start your subscription to the RV Life app. This does not become apparent until you start your 7-Day trial of RV life. Once inside, you will note that you will need to purchase an RV trip wizard app as well. The sum of both is approximately $118 in order to integrate both. It appears to be a good value in the beginning. IMHO.
We were excited when we first got this app,, but it didn't last long. GPS takes us on unnecessary trips off the freeway on TERRIBLE streets bad for RV travel that end us back at the same place we started 😡. Such a waste of time! The directions use different street names than those posted making if quite confusing. The RV Pro app is good for accumulating details of your trip in one place, the campground reviews are good, but GPS kinda sucks.
Good app be as perfect on setup of rv very accurate on distance and route, but not so friendly going from one stop to another. took a bit to figure it out.
Good app for planning an RV friendly trip. It would be great if the app worked with Android auto & Carplay. 4 stars because it doesn't integrate with android auto or Carplay.
Second try in 9 months. Still doesn't work well with Android. Won't switch to landscape mode with GPS. Will continue to use SmartRVRout for GPS.
great direction...still not displaying the upper line yhat tells distance to next turn...etc...details aspects are glitchy. i used a planned route from laptop to android and tablet. both as no changes to route option...
1st time user, hoping it will make trip planning and travel easier, so far the planner and app have been good, more to follow as we begin the trip.
Navigation is junk, doesn't update, lags behind, causes problems. I purchased for RV friendly routes but can't use it when traveling.
Maps function is dreadful. When I try to route RV safe directions, it keeps telling me it cannot because I am offline (which I am not) or I have too many avoidances (and I have none selected). Such a shame as it would be very handy but the app is very buggy.
love everything about it... have an RV that's 12'-7" high and never had an issue with a bridge. paying for premium. worth every penny. love the review option...
Unable to get the fuel expenses to work right. Always defaults to full tank and figures cost from that. Probably me but just want to add in our gallons we add, at the price we paid.
I cannot make heads or tails from this app. I want to cancel my paid subscription. We went from Austin, TX to Athens, GA and and return and never could get it to do what I wanted.
Not very user friendly through phone app. On the road, the GPS is very slow to respond compared to Waze or Google maps.
Hi, the new update won't go past three help screens when you select Trip. It will not actually load a trip as the help screens will not close. Frustrating. Update. After login and out several times. The tool functioned as expected. It updated while driving and loaded trips correctly. Was not liking this tool at first, but since new update and logging out and back in, really liking the tool.
