Have a love-hate relationship with this game. love the core battle system, the wide variety of units, the sheer number of my favorite RWBY characters on display, and the overall look of the game. hate how hard it is to gain Lien, experience, and arena points, and how easy it is to lose them. easy to get stuck in a losing streak that's nearly impossible to break out of. will keep playing, but refuse to spend another dime on this game until they get the core issues fixed.
Great concept, ruined by a broken pairing system. While the presentation of the game is excellent, the ranked battles left much to be desired. In my last 10 matches, 8 opponents have been over twice my player level. For those who have not played the game, this means that my units have significantly lower stats, my home base is much easier to destroy, etc. In short, it's an unwinnable match. Ranked battles are the only way to get new units, so there is no avoiding this. This was so close to great
NEEDS MORE WAYS TO PROGRESS The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay fun, and its stunning to watch, but you can get stuck in a rut with no way to progress or expand your deck. The only way to win is with PVP games. No AI matches, no small thing to help the loser along, nothing. You can get way behind the curve, and struggle to keep up with the rest of the players. I don't mind losing, especially in fun games, but progression is so stifled that there is nowhere for the new player to find their feet outside of the tutorial. Would love a VS AI mode for rewards that increase the harder the AI get. Would be a great if not slow way to progress, and sort out the lopsided progression system currently. Other than that, its a well made game, it just needs the final finishing touches to make it on par with the likes of DC Legends, and such.
A great game in theory, but many problems. The game menu can get buggy if you fail to connect with another person, forcing you to restart the game. Even if you do connect with someone, the game is likely to freeze up, causing you to lose the match cuz you can't place anyone. There's also no offline mode like a story mode, which makes the "pick up and play" appeal kind of dull. Besides that, there's not much variety. Characters you expect to be there aren't, and the arenas aren't different from each other, they're just reskins of the first one. Add more characters, make arenas with different layouts, give it an offline story mode, and fix the bugs. Then this will be a great game. Just hate to see another botched RWBY game.
While the game is good when it works, it rarely does. The menu is frequently unresponsive, making buying cards and chests a chore. The matchmaking seems to either find a match in 5-10 seconds or not at all. Upon completing a match, the game will lock up most of the time, preventing you from leaving until the room is deleted by the server. And on top of that, the app won't even get past the login screen half the time, which gets especially frustrating given the frequent reboots required to make things work. Give it a try if you have the patience, but don't expect much until they clean things up. Update: Things are MUCH more stable now, and I can easily recommend this game to anyone who likes either RWBY or Clash Royale style games.
I really, really wanted to love this game when I heard about it. As it stands? I don't. In concept, the game is great. The characters are all unique and enjoyable to use, the art is beautiful. And it's bug-free, for me at least. ... And then you get past the tutorial and the game plummets straight into "I really want to uninstall this" territory. The game does a good job of matching you up with players that you should -feasibly- have a chance against... except it doesn't. Tower levels matter a lot, and the game will frequently decide it would just love for you to take on that player a level higher than you are, with higher tower stats. And how do you level those, you might ask? Oh, simple enough, just level up your units, primarily. Except you have to win the battles to get the cards in the first place. And once you even GET the cards, in the correct quantity and number you need, good luck having the Lien (currency) to afford to upgrade them very far! So, unless you pay money for easy chests/cards/lien, you get stuck in a cycle of losing most battles, and getting junk from the battles you don't lose, that you can't afford to do anything with. Exactly how this game has lost me.
Very fun so far! The only issues I'm having, however, are that I can't play more than two games without getting a connection error. Closing and reopening the app fixes this, but it's annoying having to do it every time. I also don't like how you can only have five keys, and instead have to wait hours before opening them. Why not just be able to open the crates without keys, like in literally every other video game? Overall, though, this is a great game! (Btw Vol 6 hype)
It's a good game and worth trying. Being new it still has things to work on which is why I can't give it 5 stars (yet) the biggest issue I have is the amount of gold you gain compared to the cost of upgrading characters. A victory will get you, at best, 10 gold but the cost to upgrade one unit is over 100, even 1000. The cost for upgrading is understandable considering higher level and or rarity means more gold, but it doesnt change the fact it is hard to get enough gold as it is. Not only that but keys regenerate very slowly. I don't know the rate, but after maybe 5 win you have to wait however many hours to get more. If you don't have any keys, even a win gives you no rewards making it difficult to play for long periods of time. If there were other kinds of game modes that gave you a way to make gold or whatever other rewards without keys that would be great and give more reason to play for extended periods. It would also be nice to have a way to save crates that can be opened later with keys so, again, we can play without losing out on rewards.
The game is fun, and I like that the units frow stronger as you get more of that specific unit. The game is online only and intense on my battery, but getting games is quick. Unfortunately I find that the game often fails to start up or crashes just before the main menu. If the game didn't fail to load I'd play a lot more, but as it stands now the instability of the game launching keeps me from playing most of the time.
After they fixed the issues at launch, this game is pretty fun, if a bit limited. The game doesn't have a lot to do, and it's difficult to even get better units or level them up since the lien drops are incredibly small when compared to how much you need to do. If the game ever gets a story mode and a daily lien allowance of around 150 to level up and purchase units, it would be a perfect 5/5.
Its really good but slow. I know it just came out but it has so many bugs. It takes forever to log in. It takes forever to find a match and when it does it takes me back to menu. If i finally get to play and i win itll immediately pop up a message saying sending back to menu. I dont get a chest even if i have the keys to open it. I feel like the turrets need to be able to hit stronger as well. Not too much but enough where they can defend themselves a bit. I really hope theres an update soon to fix all those problems.
Consistantly glitches out during matches which is a guaranteed loss during the game. The game tries to tell me that I have bad internet, I know this can't be true because I have the fastest internet you can get and it works fine with any other game. Also, the matching system needs a little work. It seems like it's based on trophies which is fine but it needs to either lower the units strength or give a better way to upgrade your characters. Many times you are pitted against someone who has units two or three times as powerful as your own.
Not unlike the show, the animation in the game feels cheap. There is no real story and the mechanics are no different than the other hundred games like it. What you will find different is the portrait view. That is the extent of it. Be prepared to enter ranked matches against people at the same level with massive advantages because they spent money or used cheats. The tutorial was enjoyable, but uninstalled it after the first rank match. It's impressive how someone at level 1 was able to tear through all of my characters with one hit and drop a new one every second. At one point, they even ran out of characters to place. What good is being stuck only playing practice mode.
Updating my review. The learning curve is brutal, but stick with it and this can be quite fun! Takes a lot of trial and error to find a deck that works, but once it does, it feels great. I still feel that account levels give too much an advantage though. I've lost a few games by a few hp, simply because he has higher stats instead of better strategy. But definitely worth overlooking and sticking with.
This game gets a low review until they add a concede button. You can end up in an unwinnable situation, and the game forces you to stay in the match until you fully lose. Usually in that situation, I just close the app and do something else. But it's the kind of thing that would make a concede button great, if nothing else out of respect for people's time. Edit: Rating even lower due to the absurd lagging issues. Skill goes out the window when you only see the units when they're killing you.
It's a fun game and there are a few different winning strategies at lower levels. Once you get to higher levels the same basic strategies appear, and it's actually really frustrating. It's not losing to better players, it's losing to unbalanced cards at higher levels. Level 2 cards taking multiple hits, or specials not upgrading to keep up. There is also an advantage to airborne units, not enough options to fight them. Really hate the spam and neon decks too. So fun, and frustrating.
I'm really loving the game so far. It can be a bit addictive. The only problem I've had is once in a while after a match match, it's like the game freezes for a second then gives a short message about how if I won he game it will be saved in my record except it never is. The only time the game counts is if it doesn't do that little freezing thing or give me a message. Hope that bug can be fixed in the next update. Other than that, I love the game.
I now can play the game, so, problem solved. Now for my impression of the game, it's a solid game for RWBY fans but it suffers from 2 major issues. Input lag and lien shortage, chests give far to little in the way of lien and make it very hard to upgrade. As for input lag? It's awful, there have been dozens of times where I have attempted to place a unit or use an ability only for my characters to not respond, leading to lose of towers or even games. Fix these issues and it'll easily be 4 star.
App won't start, I don't have problems of space and my phone isn't rooted so I don't know what's the issue. Can you guys specify the system requirements? EDITED: I was finally able to install and play the game for a while. While at the beginning it was too similar to certain other game of clashing factions I'm happy to see the game has sta lished its own identity and trying new things constantly. It helps keeping the game fresh and entertaining. My only gripe is with the battle pairing system.
Game creator. Please add a versus Ai option to level and earn rewards. Not just to spar with. I had really high hopes for this game but honestly it doesn't reflect Rwby at all. There's no story mode after the tutorial. Everybody has the same cards and it's just spamming rather than strategy-based. What's the point of having an academy if you can't play with your friends? All it is is a grinding game of who is the most competitive. You lose out on the having fun part when you're constantly trying to just make it to the next level. It was a cool concept but I would have rather have gotten an actual Rwby game rather than a tower defense game riding on Rwby's coattails.
Great, addictive game. I'm not having the matchmaking problems others describe. I'm almost always matched with someone at my level or one above. Occasionally have had an opponent 2 levels in either direction, but that doesn't seem to influence outcome. I haven't paid and am up to level 8. Takes time to level cards, but isn't hard. Only gripe is the occasional disconnect from server in the middle of a fight. Doesn't happen often but its annoying to lose 30 trophies because you couldn't drop units.
It's a pretty good game. The matches are fast enough that you don't need to commit to heavily to play just a round or two and it doesn't feel like yout time has been wasted if you lose a match, despite the lack of any sort of consolation prize. That said, the game systems still need some tweaking, with many matches feeling more up to chance than player skill.
RWBY Amity Arena is a great game! The different modes, the music, the characters... But i don't know if it's only me but i feel lile there's a ressource problem. I never have enough to upgrade my cards so i lose, but then i don't have gold to upgrade my cards. So i think maybe you should be able to win more gold on the "battle of beacon" thing? But then again i'm not a developer .
