I'm updating a review I posted a review a few days ago giving 1 star because it once worked on my Samsung Note 8 then suddenly didn't. It said the video I once edited with my Note8 was not supported by my phone. Now it's working again and I am ecstatic. I've had no trouble connecting the camera or importing the video and the editing and control is very easy to learn after experimenting for a while along with watching some of their tutorial videos. I am happy again!
They sent me a New in the Box Rylo finally! it updated when I plugged it into my phone and didn't have trouble powering on like when I tried to update it through that SD card last time. But I still cannot get it to connect to my phone so it can be used as a remote for the camera. If I click Rylo in Bluetooth says need an app for this but it doesn't show the remote in App. Since the update my camera will no longer connect to my phone nor will even power on to take pictures
What a piece of junk. Nowhere does it say you have to have a very specific few phones to work this app. My phone isn't trash , it's even better than most of the phones on the list hardware wise. But it won't even play a video I've recorded. So yeah, good luck. Super rad looking paperweight.
I doubt this app is designed for Android. While editing in horizontal display, the save button on the save pop up doesn't show! (Only visible in vertical disply) Fast speed clips are viewed in edit mode as normal speed. Saving a 3min clip takes more than 10 min. Just name a few. Returned the camera. When the app is ready, may buy it again.
when i Bought the Rylo camera there was no support for Android, so I used an old iPhone to sync with the Rylo camera, when the android version came out, I bought the Android sync cable, worked perfectly. but recently upgraded to the Samsung s9+ and purchased the usb-c sync cable. but I run into a lot of issues connecting to the phone, some times it connects other time it freezes. thinking it may be a defective usb-c sync cable.
Honestly I hoped for the best and got the worst with this one. Camera is fantastic and seems to produce great quality video and images, but I can't access them because of their proprietary broken app. At this point I'm pulling the videos directly from the SD card and looking for desktop ways of updating their raw video into a proper 360 video
I just want to get this out of the way right now - I love this app and camera. The smoothing is like buttah and the ability to edit on device is so simple and yet so very powerful. I love the ability to just put my camera anywhere without worrying about the shot. The magical combination of the Rylo camera and app make me feel like I'm a master cinematographer when I'm just a first time amateur with suspect camera skills at best. With that said, my GoPro and DJI Pocket are going on Craigslist.
Really disappointed, downloaded the app before i bought the rylo and the app says my phone is good enough. i go to plug the rylo in to sync and the app acts as if it cant see the rylo and wont sync or update. I cant even get past the intro examples because the app freezes on the skier. Update: And the fix they chose is to update the app to say my phone wont work, great solution...
This product is truly amazing! If you are unsure about purchasing this product download the app and edit some of the sample videos that are on there. That's what I did and I was instantly hooked. My buddy has a GoPro that he uses to record his biking adventures. His videos always come out shaky and out of focus. They look like they are super low quality. That is never the case with Rylo
Using a Galaxy S10, using the cable provided by rylo to connect my phone to rylo, nothing shows up, I've tried updating my phone, restarting my phone and it still will not connect. Don't understand why I am having issues now after switching from a S8 to the newest S10. Worked once before when I had the S10 and I really got the rylo with hopes you were going to make a windows app that would connect but that was a lie im guessing? Not sure what happened I thought this would be so much better.
It's mind-blowing how it stabilizes with software instead of a gimble, the phone interface is really easy to use and intuitive, and I think it's so nifty how it can magic away the camera grip. Very cool app, its SUUUPPPPEEERRRR!
I just want to be able to view and edit the videos shot on the camera. The editing software isn't user friendly and it's incredibly hard to get the camera to keep a steady heading. Would not recommend. Android user for what is worth.
WARNING: VIDEOS CANNOT BE EXPORTED. This camera is a novelty item. The app is not stable enough to export videos (export will fail every single time), and the editor crashes within 1-3 seconds of opening. DO NOT BUY. THIS IS NOVELTY EQUIPMENT AND DOES NOT FUNCTION.
The camera only works with their app and their app only works with select phones. Not to mention, they've sold the company to VSCO who charge you to create your video content and don't connect to the camera, as far as I'm aware. What a wasted investment!!
I hate I discovered Rylo. My moto x4 can't handle properly stitched 5.8k and my two powerful w10 pc's cant be used until when? I just discovered that the app cannot see footage I copied back to an sd from PC to edit, so now that my footage is useless I need to return this camera. I did work with support, and basically Im too poor for this camera. Rylo should not claim android support. They should pick a few premium devices as compatible, not android 6.0 and up support.
Interested in purchasing the camera I checked out the app. I think camera is awesome I would definitely recommend the camera and the app seems very easy to use unlike some of the other products out there. Simple icons and straight forward take alot of the guess work out.
App does not work on my brand new pixel 3. Rylo said my phone was powerful enough. When I connect the cam, it promptly disconnects. The app says that my camera needs a firmware update. It will begin the install process and then stall. A warning message "Can not install due to an issue." I have not had an opportunity to utilize this camera because of this lousy app. Rylo does not have a PC app. I am sending this cam back to Amazon. It's sad that poor apps can render great hardware useless.

Galaxy 8 plus and 1 year with Rylo. This action camera is just plain awesome. When I think there's nothing more they could do to make it better they come up with and idea and make it come to life with a flawless update. Never an issue with any of the updates and exceed my expectations. Keep up the unbelievable features Rylo Guys. Thank You.
Absolutely garbage app that doesn't work with a ton of photos. It says you phone doesn't support video then hangs. Well... At least let me do 360 phone sphere!!!!
No updates and can't save videos on my S20. So basically the camera is useless because I can't edit and save videos with my new phone and there no desktop software for PC. So I just have hrs and hrs of raw footage that I can't upload or save.
Just be honest from now on, "Rylo - Only for Apple". Your android app has NEVER worked for me. It disconnects before you can ever download a video. And now no Windows app!! I was an early backer and now have 2 years of videos I'll never view. The only way I can right now is to put the memory card directly into my phone, blindly copy 1-3 videos, view, delete, repeat because that's all I have the internal storage for. So disappointed in Rylo's complete neglect of 50% of their customers! Waste of $
There are many times the app freezes at the end of a file save. No edits are lost, but there is little choice but to force an app stop, app restart and resave.
Terrible connection issues. Cannot connect via Bluetooth on either my OnePlus 6T Pro or my iPhone 8 Plus. Both phones and apps are up to date. Guess I'll be returning this camera to Best Buy.
The Rylo app was working fine until I updated the new 5k software, now I click on the Rylo app and it doesn't open. The issue was solved, all I had to do was change my SD card from external to internal use and restart the phone, 5 stars for the prompt feedback and 5K update...
Great app, works wonderfully. Please add more editing features and improvements like the ability to link several 360 photos with hotspots to create VR walkthoughs to be used with VR/cardboard goggles.
Half the time I can't export the video, I'll try everything to get it to work, leave it a few days, and then for some reason it will work. I've contacted support, they were slow to respond and after a bit of back and forth they transferred my case to another more specialized technician. But now I haven't heard from them in weeks! I've got a whole heap of footage I want to edit for a video and I can't... Other than that, the app is great, easy to use, lots of cool tools you can use.
