Ryobi™ GDO System™

New update posted today and I had the hope it would solve the constant crashing. Unfortunately, it has not. Clearing cache and data made no improvement. Reinstalled and it still closes. At least now it realized it keeps closing and a prompt to send info is available. I am extremely displeased with this system and software.

Just shows the title screen and doesn't do anything suddenly. Uninstalling and re installing didn't help. Can't use Alexa with this. Didn't work when you need it to when it was working. Total garbage buy another brand.

So many problems with this application. Sometimes randomly disables itself. Othertimes complains about wifi disabled while it is enabled. We are stuck with it but never buy their products again.

Constant failures. I bought this garage door opener for ease of use and the ability to use it in an app on my phone. After having this garage door opener for the last 4 years I can honestly say that the app doesn't work more than it works.

Update 5/20/2022: Latest February update crashes with Android 12 and the March update. Application hangs at the splash screen and can't even open my garage doors and literally this app is useless. Send a message to the developer via the email below and I'm waiting to get some more information. This really is a bad buy. App update crashes version 1.2.8 on Android 12. Version 1.2.5 works fine. Please update.

Unreal!! I have so many ryobi power tools that work great and have for years EXCEPT this pos garage door opener. Sure it opens and closes my garage but the app has been nothing but problems FOR years!! Its always something and that something is ALWAYS on the ryobi side smh. I'm have the same issue this time as the many other reviewers here. Honestly how hard is it to create an app that works?? I've never had anywhere near the troubles that this app has with all my other apps combined! #RefundMe

The app is broken again for the 100th time. App opens and hangs at the splash screen. Absolutely Garbage of an app. App works again,.won't connect with the openers!!!!

The opener and app have never worked 100% as advertised. Almost 2 weeks ago, the app stopped working so I deleted it, only to find that it was removed from Google Play. Now it is finally back but still crashing immediately.

Update 02/22/2022: App will now not open and has been this way for over two weeks. I am appalled that Ryobi has completely dropped the ball on this. App used to work fine. Now it stopped working all together and randomly opens and closes. No response from functions. Door opened at 4:30am this morning by itself and app gave no warning that it was opened. Door also closed on me randomly at 5:15pm the other day. This is a huge safety concern. App must be fixed or rolled back immediately.

This review is being posted Feb 22nd 2022. The app still isn't working and when open it immediately closes. No control over garage door whatsoever. This application was working fine until you changed something whatever you changed unchanged it because the app was working great.

Update: Now it keeps saying the WiFi is disabled. Why? Just stop updating the app, you're introducing bugs. Just fix everything and let it sit, we don't want new functionality we just want the app to work.

App works as well as it should work opens and closes garage door. Had problem like everyone else for 2 weeks did not work and crashed immediately is now working perfectly. Battery status still unavailable but I know it works because I tested often.

Backup battery charge status has been broken for years. The gdo has performed well over the 4 years of ownership though. After lawsuit loss Ryobi has thrown this app to the wayside. Downgrading review as the app now instantly crashes when trying to open it as of 2/23/2022. 2/24/2022: Working again. Backup battery charge status still doesn't work.

What is the deal with this app? Keeps saying my wifi on my phone isn't on when it is .. was really looking forward to using this because I have the camera... Now I guess I'll just go buy new smart garage opener and new cameras. Thank you so much

App is terrible, never sends alerts for garage door opening, being open too long or when its closing. Now the app doesnt want to open and auto closes before loading.

The app pretty much only works for opening and closing the garage door opener. The open/close sensor does not indicate whether the garage is open or closed, you cannot set the light for any time limit in the app, it will not save the setting, nor will it save any height presets. The connection to the camera module specifically does not save any setting either, or allow you to use the record audio function.

Not dependable at all. Several times a year, the app will stop controlling the door. I've tried u installing and reinstalling the app, clearing all data, etc. The app shows the status of the door properly, but no buttons work. This happens several times a year, and each time it happens, I email the support link from the app. I never get a response to my emails. Suddenly, it will just start working again. Notifications are not consistent or reliable, either.

Incredibly glitchy, I've run the setup process approximately 20 times and it hangs in various stages. I've never fully completed the process. The app shows the door as closed when the sensor isn't linked instead of showing as an error. I've only gotten one opener responding to the app, the other opener shows up but doesn't respond to the app. I plan to spend a few more hours working on it when the weather is warmer but don't have much hope for success. Works great... when it works at all. The software has not been updated in the two years I have been using it. Its effectively useless as I can never tell when its going to work. When it is connected, ot may take 5 times hitting the button to open or close the door. Just not worth it. **UPDATE** was able to, at least, get it to work once in a while. Now, I can't even connect because I don't have the wifi relay - which I guess came with the newer openers - time to delete and buy Chamberlain!

The program is slow to respond and appears to hang in the "Negotiating" status during the Wi-Fi setup. After giving up in the configuration process, I did see the opener when I returned to the app. The I was able to open the garage door from the app, but I could not get the garage door to respond in any way to close the door. I had to unplug the door and redo the whole travel distance setup.

It used to work great. Had no issues about a year ago. I got everything hooked up. Received the new hub that you have to have with it now in order for it to read up or down and logs. It works opening and closing but it does not show it. It doesn't give me any information. Just says door closed. With all the money Ryobi makes, you'd think their app would be flawless! Please fix. So annoying. 😠

Update July 21 2019. This app is still junk. the only thing that works if the open/close buttons, and you have to be on the same WiFi as the GDO. Nothing else works. notifications don't work. viewing the accessory camera doesn't work. The garage door opener works fine using the connected button, but the app is nearly useless ( which kind of defeats the purpose). It will activate the door, but there is no way to know if the door changed position , as the always reports the door closed.

Stopped working since a few days ago. Gets stuck and doesn't do anything when opened. Had to reinstall to fix. Also randomly signs me out every once in awhile. Would be great if you can offer an API (preferably accessible on the local network) we can use to check the status and control the garage door. That way the smart home functionality is not affected by outages or potential lack of future support.

Just now, the app doesn't work like before. Trying to reset WiFi connection several times, but the app stalls by negotiating network. Never pass that. Reinstalled the app and gave it all permissions, it still doesn't work. By the way, I have no idea what that hub relay attached to the door is. Never got it connected to the WiFi since day one. No proper instruction to connect that thing.

Until today I've really liked this whole system. I've read all the negative reviews but have not had anything go wrong with the system. Enough to buy 3 accessories to go along with it. The speaker being the most recent purchase as I was planning a new years party and knew people would be smoking in the garage. So you can imagine my frustration and disappointment when the app suddenly stopped working. On New Years eve of all nights. Brutal.

I dont typically leave horrible reviews, but this thing is really awful. I've been w/ tech support for 45 min running through steps to try and connect it and something always happens to screw it up at the end, then i have to start all over. I can't get the door sensor to connect to the hub, then i do and the app crashes before it's done setting up. I've rebooted my router, removed the gdo from my account, uninstalled reinstalled the app, reset everything. nothing.. it's just the worst.

The app doesn't do nearly what it's advertised to do. First, it should be easy to connect your garage door opener but that's far from the truth. It also should tell you whether door is open or not and it doesn't do that eather. I follow the step by step instructions and they don't help, though they had potential. This app needs a lot of work. Also if it fails halfway through connecting your garage door, relay, & door sensor, you have to start the entire process over after deleting everything.
