S&T SkyWeek 1.2

SkyWeek is the new, interactive, mobile version of Sky & Telescope magazine’s super-popular “This Week’s Sky at a Glance” web page — a day-by-day calendar of events to observe in the changing night sky. “This Week’s Sky at a Glance” has been Sky & Telescope’s most popular online offering for 21 years.
SkyWeek now adds interactive, custom sky maps that are automatically set for your location (not the static version’s compromise for the center of North America). And starting from the sky scene that’s displayed, you can pan all around your heavens, change the scene to other times and dates, and zoom in or out.

• All major sky events: eclipses, conjunctions, good meteor showers — miss nothing!

• Zoomable constellation charts: pan around your whole sky, and change to any time or date!

• Automatically customized to your location worldwide.

• Links to more info.

Whether you’re a newbie skywatcher or an experienced amateur astronomer, SkyWeek will become your handy, everyday guide to what’s up.

Does a good job of giving current sky information, but competely fails with the sky maps. I can *only* download the sky map files with a wifi connection, making this nearly useless if I suddenly want to check something away from home. Warn me about data usage, sure, but always give me the choice; it's not like we're talking about a huge download here. Also, why does it even need notifications? It has *never* sent a notification for anything.

I like SkyWeek, BUT the download is not visible off-line (why delete information needed under dark skies away from the internet?) Fix that bug & I'll give it 5 STARS.

It looked right the first time I used it. Now there are no longer constellation lines and the stars look dim. If there is supposed to be a settings page it's not showing. It still does what it's supposed to but is harder to find stuff. I uninstalled and reinstalled, same problem.

I give it a C. It's ok for what it does but it would be nice if it notified you *before* a rare event, not just gave you a list of past and future events. Smart phones have calendars with customizable notifications, alerts and alarms. It would be a great app if it integrated with Google calendar. This is what the paid iPhone version does. I want that!

Not working on my Samsung S5 Neo. Keep getting "Unable to download this week's events. Please check your Internet connection." when on WiFi and data connection.

Not a complete astronomy app of course, but great for keeping up with current sky events.

Handy for the latest happenings in the sky. Been using it for awhile now. Good. Would trust more if it didn't ask for so many permissions.

I like the app, and have figured out everything except how to get it into the 'night mode,' i.e., the red screen, How is that accomplished?

Ot doesn't mention rare events like the one reventbevent of Saturn and the asteroid Vesta being closer to the earth that it can viewed with binoculars. The Weather channel knew about them.
